Chapter 174 What brings you here?

There weren't many people on this business trip; there were only seven people from all departments combined.

After everyone arrived, they introduced themselves. Of the seven people, only Song Mai and the young girl were women. The girl was from the legal department, and the others were drawn from various departments to join the project team.

After the introductions were finished, it was almost time to board. Song Mai was about to follow the others to the boarding gate when Lu Xun called them back.

"Wait, there's one more person."

Upon hearing this, Song Mai and the others exchanged glances, their eyes revealing their confusion.

She remembered that there were only seven people on the project list, so how could there be an extra one out of nowhere?

Just then, Lu Xun waved to the distance, and a tall figure walked towards them from afar.

The man was backlit, so Song Mai couldn't see his face clearly.

I just felt that his figure looked somewhat familiar.

It wasn't until he got closer to Song Mai that he truly recognized him.

"Manager Ji? What brings you here?"

Before Ji Fenghe could speak, Lu Xun urged, "Alright, alright, everyone's here now, let's board the plane quickly."

In just a short while, the crowd that had been queuing up had all boarded the plane, leaving only a few of them.

The group quickly boarded the plane, and after sitting down, Song Mai realized that her seat was next to Ji Feng's.

Lu Xun, who was sitting in the row behind the two, stood up and leaned against the back of their seats before fastening his seatbelt and said:

"You two are in the same department, so I chose seats for you two next to each other when we were selecting seats. You can chat along the way without feeling awkward sitting with other people. You're welcome."

After saying that, he sat back down in his seat.

Song Mai: "......"

Song Mai was speechless. Sitting with others and having nothing to say was just awkward, but sitting with Ji Feng was a bit of an ordeal.

However, she was full of questions about Ji Fenghe's appearance. Even though their relationship wasn't that good, she still couldn't help but ask:

"Are you also going to the West on a business trip? Or have you joined our project team?"

This project is quite important to the group, so only reliable people were selected from various departments. It was not advisable to have too many people on this business trip, so Lu Xun streamlined the list of personnel again and again, leaving only these seven people who each had their own responsibilities. The others came from different departments.

But now that Ji Fenghe has arrived, there are two more people in the translation department. Song Mai is puzzled: is it really necessary to have so many translators for this business trip?

If someone else really needs to come, why make Ji Fenghe come in person?

He is, after all, the department manager. If he leaves, who will manage the department?

Moreover, Song Mai was with Tang Lanlan at the previous press conference, so if someone is needed this time, why not just have Tang Lanlan come?

Ji Fenghe was fastening his seatbelt when he heard Song Mai's voice. He glanced at her, his eyes seeming less fierce and more gentle than before.

"The company was worried that you were new and wouldn't know how to handle unexpected situations when working on projects, so they temporarily assigned me to help out."

Hearing this, Song Mai was somewhat skeptical.

"Since you don't trust me, why doesn't the company just assign someone else to be in charge of this project? Why not just give it to Sister Lan or someone else?"

She remembered that Ji Fenghe had only given her this project, and later said that if she was ever too busy, she could choose a partner from within the department.

Since this project is so important, the group must know that Ji Fenghe entrusted the project to her. If they know that, why are they still worried now?

Ji Feng gave her a cryptic look.

"Can't figure it out? It means the group is willing to cultivate you. In case of any emergencies, I can help you to prevent major problems. With this experience, you can take charge of future projects on your own."

Seeing that what he said didn't seem like a fake Song Mai, he didn't say anything more, but he couldn't help feeling a little strange.

Ji Feng and Ze put on eye masks and headphones, seemingly preparing to rest.

Song Mai asked for a blanket, leaned back in her chair, and closed her eyes.

She was exhausted from getting up too early in the morning and being very busy these past two days. The flight was ten hours long, so she might as well use the time to catch up on sleep.

Song Mai fell asleep shortly afterward.

Ji Feng, however, had not fallen asleep.

It's true that his temporary addition to the project team was arranged by the group, but he himself put a lot of effort into it.

It wasn't that he really wanted to join the project; he just wanted to avoid Yao Qianyu.

Ever since they met at the airport, she seemed determined to make him agree to be with her. Ji Fenghe had no interest in her and had rejected her many times, but for some reason, Yao Qianyu had developed a strong interest in him.

She called and texted him multiple times to ask him out, but after he blocked her number, Yao Qianyu borrowed someone else's phone to call him.

Ji Feng simply blacklisted all the phone numbers she had ever used.

When Yao Qianyu realized that calling and texting were useless, she simply went to his place and company to wait for him.

Ji Feng, unable to bear it any longer, used very strong words to distance himself from her.

Yao Qianyu, however, seemed determined and vowed to win him over.

Ji Fenghe had no other choice, so he came up with a plan to get Yun Xing to send him on a business trip so he could take the opportunity to hide away for a few days.

Thinking of all this, he sighed silently.

Song Mai slept soundly until the flight attendant came to distribute the meals.

The cabin was quiet; everyone seemed to be sleeping peacefully. Ji Feng next to me was breathing steadily and hadn't woken up yet.

Song Mai didn't have much of an appetite and only ordered a salad.

She ate the meal quietly after the flight attendant handed it to her.

Perhaps because the cabin lights were off, the dim lighting made it easy to fall asleep. Song Mai turned on the reading light, intending to read for a while to pass the time, but unexpectedly, she fell asleep again.

When she woke up again, it was already dark outside the window.

Ji Fenghe had woken up sometime earlier, with a pale yellow blanket casually draped over him. The dim light from the reading lamp shone down on him, and although the angle of the light was extremely harsh, it didn't affect him at all. Instead, it made his features appear more defined and his gaze more gentle.

His eyelashes were long, casting a shadow under his eyes in the light. He had a high nose bridge, deep-set eyes, and beautiful lips. Holding a book, his gaze was serious yet peaceful. He was like a painting.

The man had long, slender fingers and was reading an unknown foreign literary book. Song Mai glanced at it; it seemed to be in Portuguese.

She didn't recognize the characters, but she knew roughly which country's language it was.

Song Mai muttered to herself in surprise, "Isn't he a Spanish translator?"
