As soon as she finished speaking, Ji Feng and Youyou's voices came over.
When did I say that?
Song Mai turned to look at him, and seeing that the man's attention was still on the book and he had no intention of continuing the conversation, she said "Oh" and then stopped talking.
She had seen him handle Spanish documents before, so she subconsciously assumed he was a Spanish translator, but it turned out he wasn't.
Because of the time difference with the West, the plane landed at 3 a.m.
After Song Mai turned off airplane mode on her phone, she discovered that Chu Xing had sent her two messages asking if she had arrived. After replying to the messages, she put her phone back in her pocket.
When they looked up again, Yunxing's branch in the West had already arranged for a vehicle to pick them up from the airport, and the group got into the car and went directly to the hotel.
Because everyone had been sleeping the whole way, everyone was full of energy even though it was the middle of the night.
Lu Xun suggested that after returning to the hotel, they check in first, put down their luggage, and then go to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
Everyone was excited about being in a new place, so they all agreed and went back to their rooms to put their luggage away.
Lu Xun handed the room cards to Song Mai and Ji Fenghe respectively.
And you?
Seeing that everyone was going, Song Mai felt a little embarrassed to refuse, so she agreed.
Ji Fenghe, however, was not interested in this. He told Lu Xun that he wanted to rest and went back to his room.
It was the early hours of the morning, and the group searched around but couldn't find many restaurants besides bars.
Finally, they settled down at a fast food restaurant. Because it was late, many of the ingredients were already sold out, so they had no choice but to order a few simple dishes to fill their stomachs before returning to the hotel, feeling rather unenthusiastic.
After washing up and lying in bed, Song Mai set her alarm and prepared to sleep.
Chu Xing didn't reply to her; she wondered if he was already asleep.
Logically speaking, she should not be sleepy after sleeping all day, but perhaps due to the fatigue of the journey, she fell asleep soon after her head hit the pillow.
The next morning, the group gathered in the hotel lobby after breakfast.
Today's schedule includes a site visit for the land the group plans to acquire.
Lu Xun was clearly an expert; he quickly became quite familiar with the people from the Western government.
That afternoon, the group moved to another district for on-site inspection.
Taking into account future development, transportation, and labor costs, Yunxing's planning department chose the largest city in the Western Kingdom, which is also its capital, as the location for the factory.
The planning department selected a total of six locations. Their purpose in coming here was to conduct on-site inspections and comparisons of each location to ultimately choose the most suitable one.
Since there were only two women, Song Mai and the young girl, the other men were very gentlemanly and took good care of them. It could be said that, apart from work, they put the women first in everything else.
Ji Fenghe, on the other hand, would only say a few words when necessary, and otherwise remained silent, simply watching Lu Xun and the others communicate with the people from the Western Kingdom.
Based on Song Mai's past work experience, this kind of translation was routine and incredibly simple. She translated with ease, and sometimes she even translated Lu Xun's words into Western humor, which made the Western government officials laugh out loud.
This undoubtedly played a significant role in bringing the two sides closer together.
Ji Fenghe glanced at her from time to time. Seeing how serious and capable the woman was at work, and how precise and accurate she was in handling details, his gaze towards Song Mai seemed to change slightly, but upon closer inspection, it seemed that nothing had changed.
Throughout the day, the group rushed around to inspect four different locations.
We didn't return to the hotel until evening.
Lu Xun returned to his room and held a video conference with the company, while the others had nothing important to do and strolled around the nearby shopping mall.
The West is located in the Southern Hemisphere. Although it is a tropical country, it is not as cold as China. In the evening, as the sun sets, the sunlight shines on the unnamed trees on both sides of the road, creating a unique atmosphere.
By the end of the day, Song Mai had become quite familiar with the legal representative.
The two found a coffee shop by the roadside, ordered a coffee and a dessert. Half of the coffee shop's tables and chairs were indoors and half were outdoors.
The two exchanged a glance and, quite tacitly, chose a spot outside.
Watching Song Mai interact with the shop assistant, the girl couldn't help but sigh:
"It's great to have a translator in the same industry. You don't have to worry about language differences affecting the experience at all."
Song Mai pushed a slice of mousse cake towards her, her smile serene and gentle.
"This is just a quick break from our busy schedules. I'm afraid that once Manager Lu finishes his meeting, the work will start again."
Upon hearing this, the girl's face instantly fell into a grimace.
"Stop talking, Sister Song Mai. It's not a good time to talk about work when you're happy. Let's enjoy the scenery of the West. That way, this trip will be worthwhile."
Song Mai smiled and said, "Okay."
This coffee shop may not be very big, but the coffee tastes pretty good.
The West is a famous coffee-producing region, and indeed, just walking into any coffee shop and tasting a cup of coffee is enough to amaze you.
Knowing that Chu Xing liked coffee, Song Mai asked the shop assistant for the address of a coffee bean shop that they recommended, planning to go there when she had time.
On her way back, she spotted another blanket that was quite unique in its workmanship and design.
Song Mai accepted it without hesitation, intending to return it to Lin Ran.
Sure enough, she received a text message from Lu Xun as soon as she bought the blanket, saying that he had finished a meeting with the company and was going to have a small meeting with a few people, urging them to go back.
Song Mai glanced at her phone and exchanged a helpless look with the girl.
They both saw helplessness in each other's eyes.
"Let's go."
After discussing with the group, Lu Xun found that the group was more optimistic about the second construction site they had viewed that day. The next step was to negotiate with the Western government about the price and corresponding policies for the second site.
Since there were two translators traveling with them, Lu Xun decided to split the team into two groups. One group would follow Lu Xun to finish inspecting the two remaining land sites, while the other group would first go to the Western government for the first round of negotiations to see what the other party's intentions were.
Song Mai was assigned to a team and followed Lu Xun to continue inspecting the remaining two construction sites the next day, while Ji Fenghe and three others went to negotiate with the Western government first.
After the meeting, Lu Xun gave Song Mai and Ji Fenghe the items needed for tomorrow and told them to prepare them.
After the meeting, around 8 p.m., Song Mai went back to her room to take a shower and then turned on her computer to start working.
Song Mai was busy until after 10 o'clock before she finally finished her work.
She stretched wearily, and just as she was about to continue working, her phone rang on the table.
She glanced at it; it was a video call from Chu Xing.
