Chapter 178 Important Matters

His parents will stop at nothing to break them up.

Thinking about this, Chu Xing couldn't help but feel a headache coming on.

He picked up the wine bottle on the table, poured the remaining wine into a glass, drank it all in one gulp, and then got up and walked towards the door.

Where are you going?

He had drunk quite a bit of alcohol, and seeing his actions, Jiang Jibai couldn't help but feel a little worried.

"go home."

"Are you sure you can manage on your own? Or I can take you home. By the way, didn't you come here to drink with me? Why did you leave so soon? You could have stayed with me a little longer."

However, Chu Xing did not stop walking at all, only leaving behind one sentence:

"I have urgent business to attend to."

He then strode away.

Jiang Jibai shook his head helplessly, looked at the empty wine bottles on the table, opened the last bottle and took a few sips, but the more he drank, the more boring it became. He got up, grabbed his coat and left.

As soon as Chu Xing stood at the gate of Jiuxiao City, a servant came forward.

"Mr. Chu, would you like me to call a designated driver for you?"

"Call."

"OK."

This was the busiest time in Nine Heavens City, with many designated drivers waiting for business in the parking lot. As soon as a waiter came over, the drivers would immediately swarm around him, hoping to be the one chosen.

The waiter effortlessly selected a middle-aged man from the crowd who looked honest and unassuming.

Chu Xing used to be a frequent visitor to Jiuxiao City, and he would come here to get together with Jiang Jibai and the others every now and then.

Although he hadn't been here for a while, the waiter recognized him immediately when he appeared.

I also remember that he preferred quiet designated drivers and disliked those who talked too much.

"You, come with me."

He glanced at the middle-aged man in the crowd, and before he finished speaking, he handed him the keys to the black Panamera.

The middle-aged man finally made a sale after one night, and his somewhat weathered face was filled with wrinkles and gratitude as he showed an expression of ecstatic joy.

"Okay, thank you!"

He took the keys and ran to get his car.

When the car pulled up beside the man, he quickly got out and opened the car door for him.

Chu Xing had drunk a lot of alcohol. He didn't feel anything at first, but after getting into the car, the warmth from the heater made the effects of the alcohol kick in.

He took out his phone and called Assistant Lu.

The man spoke hastily as soon as the call was answered.

“Make a list of the assets under my name.”

Assistant Lu was taken aback: "Why do you suddenly want this?"

"Just list them out as soon as possible, I need them."

"yes."

The car sped along the road, weaving through brightly lit streets and alleys before arriving at a quiet, deserted road.

Chu Xing leaned back in his chair, his eyes slightly closed, making it impossible to tell whether he was still awake or had already fallen asleep.

When the car finally stopped in front of his house, he took out a stack of hundred-yuan bills from his pocket and casually tossed them to the designated driver, who immediately expressed his gratitude and thanked him repeatedly.

He pushed open the car door and staggered out. Once in the living room, he slumped onto the sofa and dialed Song Mai's number.

Song Mai had finished her work and gone to bed. She didn't hear her phone vibrate for a while.

Seeing that it was Chu Xing calling, she felt a pang of unease.

It's so late, it should be past midnight in China too. Why is he calling her at this hour? Has something happened?

Song Mai woke up instantly, her drowsiness dissipating somewhat, and quickly answered the phone.

There was no sound on the other end of the phone.

She called his name tentatively.

"Chu Xing? Are you listening?"

The man then hummed in agreement.

"I am here."

Song Mai breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing his response.

"Why are you calling me so late? Is there something you need?"

Another silence followed.

Just as Song Mai was about to speak again, the man suddenly called out to her.

"Songmai".

"What's wrong?"

"There's something I want to tell you."

After confirming that he was safe, Song Mai'an felt relieved, and drowsiness washed over her.

Where are you?

"at home."

The man answered obediently, but Song Mai noticed his unusual behavior after only a few words.

"Have you been drinking?"

"Yes, I had some."

Song Mai remembered that he was at home when he called her a few hours ago and was still sober at the time. How come he was drunk now?

"You went out? With whom?"

"Jiang Jibai, he's in a bad mood and asked me to stay with him. I'm home safely now, don't worry."

Seemingly sensing the concern in Song Mai's tone, the man spoke as if he were perfectly sober.

Song Mai glanced at the time; it was four in the morning.

If she doesn't go to sleep soon, she won't be able to get up tomorrow morning.

"You're drunk. Go back to your room and sleep. It's cold, so cover yourself with the blanket and don't catch a cold."

"No, I have something important to tell you."

The man looked extremely serious, as if something was of utmost importance to him.

Song Mai had no choice but to coax him like a child.

"It's getting late, and we have important things to do tomorrow. How about we talk about it tomorrow?"

The man remained relentless.

"I want to say it now."

Completely at a loss, Song Mai could only say, "Okay, then you go ahead, I'm listening."

"That's right, actually I'm not..."

However, before he could finish speaking, the receiver emitted a "beep beep" sound indicating that the call had been disconnected.

When Song Mai called back, the phone was switched off.

Somewhat helplessly, she turned off the desk lamp, waited a while, and called him again, but his phone was still off.

Chu Xing talked to himself for a long time, explaining from beginning to end why he had fabricated a false identity. When he saw that Song Mai was still silent, he realized that his phone had run out of battery and turned off at some point.

He got up from the sofa, determined to confess tonight, and stumbled to the bedroom to charge his phone.

He lay on the bed thinking he would call Song Mai once his phone was turned on, but unexpectedly he fell asleep.

The next morning, Song Mai, sporting two huge dark circles under her eyes, met up with the others in the hotel lobby.

Last night, she waited a long time before calling Chu Xing, but he didn't answer, wasting more than an hour of her time. Later, as she was about to go to sleep, she couldn't help but keep thinking about what important thing he wanted to say to her.

But after thinking for a long time, I still couldn't remember, and eventually I drifted off to sleep without realizing it.

Her huge dark circles under her eyes attracted the attention of others, and even Ji Fenghe couldn't help but speak up.

Didn't sleep well last night?

She forced a smile.

"It's alright, but I might not be used to it yet."

"Try to adapt as soon as possible, so as not to delay your work."

"good."

When Lu Xun arrived, the group split into two teams, and both sides acted simultaneously.

Song Mai and Lu Xun were together, and Lu Xun kept teasing her about whether she had taken a fancy to some handsome guy from the West and was so worried that she couldn't sleep.

There are indeed many handsome men in the West. Song Mai saw one yesterday while having coffee, but she wasn't interested in him and didn't pay much attention.

She laughed and denied it, then took a nap on the way.
