Chapter 195 There's someone in the room

She didn't understand why there was someone in her room when she returned.

Could it be that some criminals broke into her room with some ulterior motive?

Is it an escape for their lives? Or a theft?

Or is it robbery?

She struggled incessantly, using both her hands and feet, trying to kick over things around her to attract other people's attention.

Unfortunately, to her disappointment, there was nothing around her.

She was terrified. She never expected her journey to be so fraught with misfortune. She had just experienced a severe rainstorm and was now trapped in a house by criminals with nowhere to turn for help.

Could this Western Kingdom be her doom?

Will she never be able to return safely?

In desperation, she kicked the man hard in the shin. He groaned, but didn't loosen his grip at all.

Seeing that her trick had worked, Song Mai was about to repeat it when a hoarse voice suddenly sounded above her head.

"She's gotten bolder and bolder in just a few days; she even dares to murder her own husband."

Upon hearing this, Song Mai was taken aback, and then instantly realized something.

The man slowly removed his hand from her mouth, and Song Mai's eyes were filled with disbelief.

"Smack—"

The man's fingers precisely located the light switch on the wall. The instant he pressed the switch, he covered the woman's eyes, only removing his hand when her eyes adjusted to the light.

Song Mai stared blankly at him. The man in front of her was still as handsome as a god, but he looked somewhat tired.

The red blood vessels under the eyes are very obvious.

Seeing that Song Mai remained motionless and silent for a long time, just staring at him blankly, the man couldn't help but chuckle softly.

"What? Are you scared stiff?"

Song Mai looked disheveled and wore thin, ill-fitting clothes. In just a few days, she seemed to have lost a lot of weight.

She didn't feel anything about the fear and anxiety of the past few days, nor did she feel wronged; she could get through it all.

The moment she saw Chu Xing, all the grievances welled up from the bottom of her heart like a burst dam.

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, like beads falling from a broken string.

Chu Xing was startled by her. He thought she would be angry that he had scared her, but he did not expect her to react this way.

He quickly wiped away her tears and apologized repeatedly:

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to give you a surprise. Maybe I went too far. It's all my fault. I didn't think things through..."

He held Song Mai in his arms like he was comforting a child, gently soothing her.

The more he did this, the harder Song Mai cried.

Chu Xing panicked for a moment and quickly pulled her out of his arms. He held her shoulder with one hand and wiped away her tears with the other, his eyes full of heartache and his attitude very careful.

"What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"

Song Mai cried uncontrollably, unable to explain what was wrong with her, only feeling extremely wronged.

At this moment, she had no other emotions, only grievance. Rationally, she knew she shouldn't be like this, but she just couldn't control her emotions.

She only stopped crying when she had soaked the man's shirt completely.

Song Mai wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, looked at the man's wrinkled white shirt that she had rubbed some dust on, her ears turned red, and she immediately wanted to find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

The man leaned against the wall with one hand, raising an eyebrow at her with a half-smile, unknowingly creating a "wall slam" position.

Song Mai turned to run away in embarrassment, but the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.

"Have you cried enough? Hmm?"

His voice was already pleasant, but now it was slightly hoarse, sounding exceptionally languid, like a fine wine, with an intoxicating charm.

Song Mai felt her ears burning and lowered her head, not daring to look at him.

Why aren't you saying anything?

Her voice was so soft it was almost a hum from her nose, which made the man chuckle.

"Um."

Under the lamplight, the man's gaze was intense, lingering on her pale face, making Song Mai feel as if her whole body was about to burst into flames.

The scalding heat made her want to run away, but the man held her firmly within this small space.

The next second, he suddenly lowered his head and kissed the woman when she was completely unprepared.

This kiss was not as aggressive as before; it was very gentle, tender, and lingering, like a lover's whisper, making one unable to resist falling in love.

Song Mai felt like a leaf that had fallen into the ripples, rising and falling with the waves, yet unable to escape the layers of ripples.

The man only released her when all the oxygen in her chest had been taken away.

The man stared straight at her, his voice trembling slightly.

"Song Mai, I'm so scared."

Song Mai was taken aback, then looked at him.

The sentence seemed to end abruptly, and the man didn't continue. Instead, he seemed to use all his strength to pull Song Mai into his arms.

His strength was so great that it seemed he wanted to embed her into his bones.

She gently patted his back, saying nothing, but she was already comforting him silently in this way.

She finally spoke after a long pause.

"Why are you here? Weren't all flights supposed to be suspended?"

She knew he was worried about her, but with the rain so heavy, there were no flights, not even international trains to the surrounding countries. How did he manage to get here under such circumstances?

Upon hearing this, the man glared at her.

"You heartless little thing, you haven't sent a single message since you went on your business trip. I've been thinking about you so much, and you've already forgotten about me."

"What do you mean? I didn't text you at first because of the time difference and because I was too busy. I never expected this situation to happen these past two days. I almost lost my life, let alone text you."

Looking back on what happened in the past two days, she felt utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally.

Could it be that she's just cursed with bad luck?

She seems to experience all sorts of once-in-a-century events.

She pulled the now-brick-like phone out of her pocket, feeling an intense pang of heartache.

This was the first time in my life I'd ever won a phone like this, and it was very expensive. It's such a shame it's broken like this.

She had never used such an expensive phone before this one came along.

Song Mai pursed her lips, feeling an overwhelming pang of heartache.

The man took the phone and pushed her to sit down on a chair next to him.

"Alright, out with the old, in with the new. It's just a phone, we can just buy another one. As long as you're alright, that's all that matters."

Song Mai understood this principle, but she couldn't help feeling sorry for him.

After chatting for a while, Song Mai learned that he had first flown to Esterdam and then taken a ship from Esterdam to come here.

Upon hearing this, Song Mai's eyes lit up.

"Then can't we use this method to go back?"

Anyway, after this experience, she didn't want to stay any longer.

The man nodded: "In theory, it is possible."
