Chapter 269 Emergency Landing

"Manager Ji?" Song Mai turned around in surprise.

Because the first-class seats offer such a high level of privacy, Song Mai hadn't even noticed that an acquaintance was sitting next to her.

“I will also be involved in this project, didn’t you already know that?” Manager Ji thoughtfully took a glass of water from the flight attendant’s tray and handed it to her.

"I didn't expect you to arrive so early."

Logically, the company would divide people into three groups: the first group would be ordinary employees who went to explore the area, and the second group would be management like Jifeng.

Ji Feng waved his hand: "It's the same sooner or later, and I don't value myself that much. Arriving at the project team first will allow me to understand the most authentic situation."

Song Mai nodded in agreement.

After all, this charity project was set up for recent disaster relief, and it was unexpected that such a natural disaster would occur in the country where the other company's headquarters are located.

Before the plane even took off, Song Mai saw the most realistic situation in the disaster area through the small TV in front of her and couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat.

She sighed helplessly and said in a low voice, "I wonder what the situation is like there."

"Actually, as a girl, you could have applied to go to the scene later. After all, the situation in the disaster area and whether there will be any further problems are all unknown."

When Ji Feng said these words, there was actually a hint of testing in his mind.

Song Mai, oblivious to the situation, spoke with a serious expression: "We must not indulge in pleasure; this is a fundamental principle. Moreover, it is my duty, and I cannot change it so easily."

Ji Fenghe gave him a thumbs-up and joked with a look of satisfaction: "As expected of someone I taught, your ideological awareness is just different."

The distance from here to the South is very far, and Song Mai drifted off to sleep.

She was groggily awakened by the turbulence of the plane. Hearing the screams around her, she held her breath and observed the situation.

The plane was shaking violently, and with the lightning and clouds outside, it looked just like a scene from a horror movie.

Song Mai frowned nervously, gripping the handrail tightly.

Ji Feng gently comforted him, "Don't worry, it's alright."

Soon after, an announcement came over the loudspeaker that the plane had encountered turbulence and was experiencing unavoidable shaking, but that it would stabilize once it passed through this area.

Even so, it still couldn't dispel everyone's concerns.

Everyone clenched their teeth in tension, as if they were about to die at any moment.

The plane experienced severe turbulence and was ultimately forced to make an emergency landing.

Fortunately, the plane landed safely and no one was injured.

But every cloud has a silver lining, and the place where they were forced to land was precisely in the disaster area.

When Song Mai stepped off the plane, she suddenly found her legs going weak. She appeared calm, but it was just a facade. After all, it was her first time facing a life-or-death situation, and no one could easily take life and death lightly.

Looking around, Song Mai was suddenly shocked by the scene before her.

The place was a mess; everything in sight had been destroyed.

The crew immediately worked with government departments to relocate the passengers to a temporary safe zone, which was full of people who had become homeless due to the disaster.

Song Mai took a deep breath, carefully sat down to the side, and quietly looked around.

A variety of emotions were evident in the eyes of these people. Some were curiously sizing them up, while others were greedily eyeing them, looking for anything they could take.

A person in charge came to Song Mai and Ji Fenghe. The man had a thick beard, was very strong, and had a fierce face.

Ji Feng instinctively shielded Song Mai behind him, watching the man warily.

Fortunately, the man was a staff member sent by the other company, and he is now stuck here due to the unexpected situation.

"I'm so sorry you had to go through this. The company has sent a helicopter to pick you up, but it will be tomorrow. An earthquake is expected tonight, so rescue operations won't be possible." The man looked at the two of them regretfully.

Song Mai nodded, then inquired about the situation: "An earthquake is coming, should everyone stay here?"

“There are no proper buildings around here now, and these makeshift tents are what sustain everyone’s lives for the time being. Refugees can’t be relocated, so all they can do is wait quietly for the natural disaster to pass.” As someone involved in a charity project, the man naturally felt heartbroken seeing such a scene.

A burly man wiped away tears from the corners of his eyes, choking back sobs.

"We'll help you solve this, don't worry." Song Mai smiled and extended her hand. "We are project staff from Yunxing Group, please rest assured. It's a pleasure to meet you, this is our Manager Ji, and I'm Song Mai."

"My name is Fauci."

Ji Feng glanced at Chu Xing with surprise, not expecting her to be so fearless in the face of such a scene. It seemed that he had underestimated her.

Song Mai and Ji Feng found a place to sit down and rest, while waiting for their instant noodles to cook and taking in their surroundings.

A girl with big, round eyes timidly approached Song Mai, cautiously looking at the instant noodles in her hand, and whispered, "Sister, can I switch with you?"

The girl's words were very stiff, as if she had mustered up the courage to say them.

Song Mai glanced at the instant noodles instinctively and asked softly, "Do you want to eat this?"

The girl nodded, then hesitated before saying, "But this is the only candy I can trade with you."

She clutched a piece of candy in her muddy palm; the words on the coating were illegible. The candy was obviously no longer edible, but Song Mai couldn't bear to see the girl suffer.

"sure."

She handed the instant noodles to the girl and told her to be careful.

Instant noodles are limited, one per person, and will be distributed on time.

Fauci said helplessly, "The supplies were supposed to be distributed tonight, but the signal is down and we can't contact the outside world, so the supplies can't be delivered."

The few instant noodles we had were already treasures, and we only took them out because Songmai and Jifenghe brought them.

"You eat it, I'm not hungry." Ji Fenghe helplessly pushed the instant noodles in front of Song Mai.

"I'm not hungry either. I've already eaten a lot on the plane." Song Mai's mind wasn't on food at all; it was on her phone.

She repeatedly raised her phone, trying to receive a signal.

I haven't contacted Chu Xing for so long, I wonder if he's worried sick.

At this moment, Assistant Lu was pacing anxiously back and forth in his office.

Chen Que sat to the side and said helplessly, "Are you trying to make me dizzy?"

"Madam's condition is not good, but Master Yun is currently negotiating. It would be a bad idea to go and disturb him so rashly."

"Is waiting all the time the best solution?" Shen Que rolled her eyes at him helplessly, picked up the documents, and got up to knock on the door.
