Bai Wan'er looked at Liu Jia'er in surprise and repeated, "Who is A-Xing?"
"What's wrong?" Liu Jia'er already disliked her, and now she was even more impatient.
"I'm sorry, the name sounds a lot like my husband's, so I was momentarily confused." Bai Wan'er's eyes were filled with unconcealed sadness and helplessness.
Chu Yunxing stared intently at her, and such a reaction inevitably made him wonder.
The thought that had just been suppressed resurfaced at this moment, and Chu Yunxing nervously asked, "If I may ask, what is your husband's name?"
"Sorry, this is my privacy." Bai Wan'er did not answer, but turned and left directly.
Chu Yunxing watched her retreating figure with a complex expression.
Liu Jia'er witnessed this scene and took a deep breath. This woman is not simple; she must investigate her thoroughly.
Bai Wan'er stood alone in the elevator, looking dazed.
This name keeps echoing in my ears, but I just can't seem to recall it.
As I arrived outside the company, Ji Fenghe's car was parked right in front of me. The passenger window was rolled down, revealing his smiling face.
"It seems the timing is just right."
Bai Wan'er forced a smile as she got into the car, her mind still replaying that name.
Ji Feng noticed that something was wrong with her and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
"Do you remember me saying before that a man named Ah Xing always appears in my dreams? Hearing that name again today makes me really uneasy."
Bai Wan'er couldn't describe how she felt at that moment. It was as if an invisible hand was gripping her heart tightly, causing her so much pain that she couldn't breathe.
"Wan'er, that man is dead, which is why you remember him so vividly." Ji Fenghe concealed the coldness in his eyes and spoke softly.
"What kind of person is he?" This was the question that puzzled Bai Wan'er the most.
According to Ji Fenghe, this man was a heartless scoundrel and deserved to die.
But he never told himself what the man had done that made him unwilling to tell him.
“Wan’er, I don’t want you to think about that man because he’s not worth it. Besides, he has many enemies, so I can’t expose your and An’an’s identities.” Ji Fenghe stopped the car, looked at the red light countdown, and spoke softly, “I’m doing all this for you two, please believe me.”
Bai Wan'er smiled stiffly: "Of course I believe you. After all these years, I have seen how you have taken care of me and An'an."
“Since that’s the case, don’t let those sad memories be brought back to life. You were traumatized by that man and lost your memories. I don’t want to see you repeat the same mistakes and fall into sadness again.” Ji Fenghe gently took her hand.
If she hadn't wanted to return to China to develop her career, I definitely wouldn't have come back.
"I understand." Bai Wan'er smiled at him, her eyes filled with relief.
He's right. Since the past is over, there's no need to dwell on it.
However, she couldn't help but be curious about what happened back then, but Ji Feng avoided mentioning it, and she had no other way to find out.
"By the way, how is your cooperation with Yunxing Group going?"
"Things went smoothly; the contract has been finalized."
Bai Wan'er's expression turned serious whenever work was mentioned. She was a complete workaholic, her mind constantly occupied with work. It was thanks to Ji Fenghe's care that An'an would have been neglected.
"That's good. An'an has been clamoring to go to the amusement park today. Why don't you wait until you have some free time to go together? After all, you haven't taken An'an out to play in a long time."
Bai Wan'er pondered for a moment, then decided to wait until tomorrow.
Unexpectedly, that night, An'an suddenly developed a high fever that wouldn't subside and became lethargic.
She lay in bed, looking weakly at Bai Wan'er, and said with a look of grievance, "Mom, I feel so bad."
Bai Wan'er didn't dare to hesitate at all and rushed to the hospital with An'an overnight.
Jiang Jibai happened to be on duty in the emergency room. When he saw the familiar face in front of him, he was momentarily dazed.
"Doctor, my daughter suddenly has a high fever." Bai Wan'er rushed to Jiang Jibai. "Could you please take a look and see what's wrong with her?"
Jiang Jibai didn't have time to ask any questions; he took the child to get checked first.
"There's nothing too serious. The initial diagnosis is that she caught a cold. Your daughter's constitution isn't very strong, so you should take extra care of her." Jiang Jibai looked at An'an, whose face was flushed from the fever, and asked, "How old is the child?"
"Four years old."
"Four years old?" Jiang Jibai paused as he registered the information.
Five years after Song Mai's death, if she had had a child with Chu Yunxing back then, the child would probably be around this age.
"Doctor, is there something wrong with my daughter?" Bai Wan'er asked anxiously, looking at his serious expression.
Jiang Jibai then realized what was happening and gently shook his head: "It's alright, let's get the child admitted to the hospital first."
With a persistent high fever, it's natural not to leave.
Bai Wan'er had just finished processing the formalities when she saw Chu Yunxing walk in wearily. His expression was cold, and he exuded impatience.
Jiang Jibai couldn't help but tease, "Your information network is really good. They just arrived, and you came right away."
He was just about to tell Chu Yunxing when he unexpectedly arrived first.
"These kinds of tricks have been used so many times, they're nothing new." Chu Yunxing glanced at his watch with annoyance and turned to leave.
Jiang Jibai looked at him in surprise: "Have you misunderstood something?"
"Over the years, how many women have tried to get my attention by cutting their wrists?" Chu Yunxing said coldly, his impatience becoming increasingly apparent.
Jiang Jibai was taken aback and immediately flipped through the medical record book, only to find that half an hour earlier, Song Xingchen had been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment after cutting her wrists.
"I'm not talking about her, I'm talking about the white designer. Her daughter has a fever and was just brought to the emergency room."
"Bai Wan'er?" The moment Chu Yunxing heard this name, all the weariness on his face vanished.
“Yes, I was just thinking, if you and Song Mai had a child, it would probably be this age by now.” Jiang Jibai shook his head helplessly, completely unaware that Chu Yunxing’s expression was becoming increasingly serious.
Where is she?
Seeing his anxious look, Jiang Jibai pointed to the payment counter not far away.
Chu Yunxing approached casually and said in a low voice, "What a coincidence, we meet again."
Bai Wan'er was unaware of his approach when she suddenly heard a voice beside her ear and instinctively froze.
Then he spoke in a low voice, "What a coincidence, what are you doing here?"
"A friend had something to take care of, so I came to check on them. What about you?"
Bai Wan'er said worriedly, "An'an has a fever."
Jiang Jibai couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement at the scene. He had just told Chu Yunxing, but now Chu Yunxing was pretending not to know anything and trying to strike up a conversation. What a brilliant idea!
