Chapter 30 Let's Have a Baby

His eyes seemed to say that if this bastard ruined his plans, he would never forgive him.

Song Mai picked up a piece of tofu with her chopsticks and put it into the old man's bowl. The old man immediately looked at Song Mai with a smile, his expression completely different from how he had treated Chu Xing earlier.

The waiters served the dishes one after another, filling the table to the brim.

Song Mai felt a pang of heartache, and her face fell.

"Grandpa Chu, there's no need for the three of us to order so much food. It's such a waste."

Grandpa Chu looked at the girl in front of him with loving eyes:

"This is the first meal we've eaten together since you became my granddaughter-in-law, so it's only right."

As he spoke, he patted his wallet, looking quite pleased with himself.

"Eat your wheat without worry, Grandpa has money!"

Song Mai couldn't help but laugh out loud at his childlike antics, and for a moment the atmosphere between the grandfather and grandson was incredibly harmonious.

Chu Xing served food to the two of them from time to time, occasionally chiming in with a comment. The meal went smoothly.

As the meal was drawing to a close, Old Master Chu suddenly sighed, his mouth opening and closing repeatedly.

Seeing his hesitant expression, Song Mai quickly said, "Grandpa Chu, please say what you have to say. We're listening."

Old Master Chu's wrinkled eyes moistened slightly, tears welling up in his eyes, making him look quite pitiful.

Song Mai quickly pulled out a tissue to wipe his tears.

"I've watched Chu Xing grow up since he was a child. His parents are both busy, and no one else loves him except me. He's been very independent since he was a child, and he hasn't given me any trouble as he's grown up. The only thing I've worried about is his love life."

As he spoke, Old Master Chu looked at Song Mai, his eyes filled with a sense of satisfaction.

“You are the person I chose. I feel at ease with him being with you. I know you also grew up in hardship. You two will support and help each other in the future. If there is anything wrong with this kid, tell me in time and I will help you teach him a lesson. Of course, I also hope that you will cherish him. He is also a pitiful child.”

Upon hearing this, Song Mai looked at Chu Xing, her eyes filled with sympathy.

So he and I were in the same situation?

She shifted her gaze back to Grandpa Chu, as if she had made up her mind: "Don't worry, Grandpa Chu, I will definitely treat him well."

Chu Xing looked at his grandfather speechlessly, and sure enough, he saw his grandfather wink at him and reveal a fox-like smile where Song Mai was not paying attention.

Grandpa Chu took their hands and patted them gently, saying, "As long as you're both well, I'm relieved."

Song Mai placed her hand on the man's large hand. The man's hand had distinct knuckles, and the warm touch made Song Mai's heart tighten slightly, and her hand curled up a little.

As her fingertips brushed across the man's palm, it felt like an electric current traveling straight to his heart. His heart trembled, a ticklish, tingling sensation spreading through him, and even the way he looked at Song Mai trembled.

Song Mai nodded seriously, but then heard Grandpa Chu ask with a smile, "When do you plan to give me a great-grandson?"

"Smack—"

Song Mai's hand trembled, and the cup in her hand fell to the ground.

Chu Xing's face also darkened.

"Don't talk nonsense, I already told you..."

Old Master Chu seemed not to hear, his smile still on his face.

"You brat, are you still shy?"

After saying that, he looked at Song Mai with a hopeful expression: "Maizi, Grandpa is not joking with you. I really hope that you two will have a descendant as soon as possible. You are both not young anymore. I hope that I can see my great-grandson before I die."

Song Mai wanted to say that there was definitely a chance, but then she remembered that the person who had taken on this heavy responsibility, as mentioned by Old Master Chu, was herself, and she thought about the contractual relationship between herself and Chu Xing. She was so embarrassed that she didn't know what to say for a long time.

Grandpa Chu was still praising his grandson with shining eyes.

"My grandson may not be very capable, but at least he's good-looking. Mai Zi, you're beautiful and well-behaved. Your genes combined will surely produce a good child. Besides, my grandson is healthy..."

"grandfather!"

As Old Master Chu's words became increasingly outrageous, Chu Xing could no longer bear to listen and quickly interrupted him.

"Don't be disrespectful to your elders..."

He winked at him to remind him that Song Mai was also there.

Old Master Chu immediately glared and bristled.

"What are you thinking, kid! I didn't mean anything by that. I meant that if you're healthy, you'll have the energy to take care of the kids."

Song Mai lowered her head, her cheeks flushed. For some reason, she suddenly recalled what others had said when Zheng Yao accused him of cheating on her with Big Beard: "It must be because her husband is no good."

Chu Xing had just finished talking about his grandfather when he suddenly heard this sentence.

Is her husband impotent?

Isn't that him they're talking about?

The man's face instantly darkened like the bottom of a pot, and his eyes looked at Song Mai with a hint of disbelief.

He looks terrible?

That can't be true. Although he usually seems very abstinent, he has always maintained a fitness routine and has a great physique. Moreover, he doesn't have any problems in that area.

Song Mai didn't know what was wrong with the man; he was looking at her inexplicably with a strange look in his eyes.

However, she didn't think much of it, since having dinner with the old man was important.

As the three of them walked out of the private room, a black Volkswagen pulled up in front of the restaurant.

The old man waved to the car, and the driver immediately got out and opened the car door for him.

Song Mai was curious about the relationship between the driver and Grandpa Chu, as she remembered that the driver had never been so polite to passengers.

But she didn't ask, until the man next to her seemed to notice her question and then said, "This is a friend of our family. Grandpa helps pick us up and drop us off when he goes out, and we have a good relationship."

Upon hearing this, Song Mai nodded.

She felt increasingly sorry for Chu Xing.

[It seems he really does manage everything at home. It's one thing for his parents not to be there, but to let an elderly person go out alone, even having a neighbor pick them up and drop them off—how can he possibly feel at ease?]

She looked at the man with some concern: "Why don't you take Grandpa back home? I'm worried about him being alone."

"No need, there are people at home who will take care of him."

Song Mai felt a little relieved and took the keys to ride over on her electric scooter.

Old Master Chu sat in the car, lowered the window halfway, and stuck his head out to look.

"How are you getting home? Should I give you a ride?"

Chu Xing pointed at the small electric scooter that Song Mai was pushing over, and was immediately met with merciless ridicule from Old Master Chu.

"Hahahaha... You've finally met your match!"

Chu Xing practically gritted his teeth as he spat out a few words:

"Hmph...it's all thanks to you!"

Grandpa Chu burst into laughter again.

As the car drove away, Song Mai put on her helmet and patted the back seat:

"Prince, please get in the carriage!"
