Chapter 33 If a man doesn't look out for himself, heaven and earth will punish him.

Zheng Yao quickly resorted to her old trick, sobbing softly as she pulled Fang Yu's hand to her chest, her eyes brimming with tears as she said:

"Manager, feel my heartbeat. I'm truly sincere towards you. Please help me one more time, just for the sake of our past relationship."

This time, Fang Yu didn't shake off her hand. He crossed his legs and glanced at her sideways, his eyes scanning her up and down, revealing a somewhat ambiguous smile.

"Helping you is not out of the question, but why should I help you for no reason?"

Seeing that Fang Yu had relented, it was clear that they couldn't do without giving something in return.

Zheng Yao gritted her teeth, whispered a few words in Fang Yu's ear, and a malicious smile instantly appeared on the man's face.

He looks somewhat sleazy.

A moment later, Zheng Yao walked out of Fang Yu's office with a smug smile on her lips, looking completely different from when she went in.

Lin Ran, unable to bear it any longer, sarcastically remarked from the side, "Oh, you're still so happy after being fired?"

A hint of disgust flashed in Zheng Yao's eyes, but she then laughed even more unrestrainedly.

"I won't leave."

Lin Ran scoffed at Zheng Yao's unfounded arrogance.

"The company's notification has already been issued. Didn't the HR manager just give it to you? It's in black and white, why are you still being stubborn?"

Lin Ran was puzzled. What was the point of still showing off verbally when things had come to this?

Zheng Yao remained confident: "I'm telling you the company won't let me leave. Right now, the HR manager has only given me the notification letter; they haven't sent an email to the whole company. So the real result hasn't come out yet. Just wait and see!"

After saying that, she walked away arrogantly, swaying her gait in her ten-centimeter high heels.

Lin Ran glanced at Zheng Yao and then at the closed door of Fang Yu's office. A flash of inspiration struck her, and an idea began to form in her mind.

Could it be...?

Before leaving get off work that evening, Song Mai received a message from Chu Xing telling her that he wouldn't be going home for dinner. Song Mai simply invited Lin Ran to a nearby small shop for a quick bite.

During dinner, Lin Ran pulled Song Mai aside to discuss this matter.

Do you think Zheng Yao might have some other kind of relationship with the manager?

Song Mai had been with the company longer than her, and Lin Ran thought that Song Mai might know some things that she didn't.

Otherwise, why would Zheng Yao have angered Fang Yu so much last time, yet the two of them are so peaceful today?

Moreover, after Zheng Yao entered Fang Yu's office and came out, she was certain that the company would not fire her.

They even sent her a paper notification, and the only thing missing was an email to the entire company. How could she still be so confident?

Who would believe that no one helped her?

Song Mai swallowed the food in her mouth, thought for a few seconds, and then answered:

"Other relationships... I haven't heard of any. I arrived before Zheng Yao, and I haven't heard of any kinship between them. Besides, Zheng Yao didn't know Fang Yu when she arrived."

Lin Ran looked around and lowered her voice.

"Do you think it might be that kind of relationship? Otherwise, why would Fang Yu, who is not related to her, speak up for her? Last time at that high-class dinner party, you were wronged and worked hard, so he took you there. But what about Zheng Yao? Why did he have to bring a receptionist out of so many people in the department?"

The more Lin Ran spoke, the more determined she became, and the more convinced she was that what she thought was right.

Song Mai hesitated for a moment before speaking: "Although your suspicions are not without merit, Manager Fang is, after all, a married man, and I remember that he and his wife have always been very affectionate. He even posted on his WeChat Moments a couple of days ago. And maybe he brought Zheng Yao along because she is pretty?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Ran nodded, but then shook her head, looking as if she was pondering some incredibly difficult problem.

"I don't think it's that simple. She is pretty, but it's not like I would help her so much just because she's pretty, without expecting anything in return."

"Besides...and men are all actors, there's nothing they can't act out. Even if he shows off his love every day, it doesn't stop him from cheating on her. I think Fang Yu's eyes when he looks at Zheng Yao aren't so innocent. By the way, you have to be careful of your husband. Men with power, wealth, and good looks are all coveted. Your husband may not have the first three qualities, but he's handsome. Even someone as ambitious as Zheng Yao has taken the initiative to pursue him. If you're not careful, he might give you a solid green hat one day."

Song Mai smiled but didn't say anything.

She and Chu Xing were a contract couple; they would not interfere with each other for a year, and would go their separate ways after that.

Why would she care about his private life?

Midnight, in a high-end hotel in the east of the city.

The man in the brown suit arrived as promised.

The woman had already changed into a sexy, form-fitting outfit and was waiting in the room for the man who was about to appear.

The woman greeted Fang Yu as soon as he appeared.

Upon seeing the curvaceous and alluring woman in front of him, Fang Yu's eyes lit up. He then reached out and pulled her into his arms, making a move to kiss her.

At that moment, Zheng Yao extended a slender, white finger and sealed the man's lips with hers, her eyes filled with seductive allure.

You have to keep your promise to me.

Fang Yu chuckled, released the woman, and walked to the side to open a bottle of red wine.

"How come I never realized you were so shrewd and calculating?"

Zheng Yao brushed her stray hairs behind her ears, her eyes flashing with intense hatred.

"Every man for himself, so what's wrong with what I'm doing?"

Fang Yu handed her a glass of red wine and made a clinking motion.

"Of course, as long as I'm satisfied tonight, I'll do what I promised you."

After downing a glass of red wine, the man loosened his tie, tossed it onto the chair, and then walked over to Zheng Yao, scooping her up in his arms.

Under the dim light, their figures intertwined, and their voices could be heard from time to time, as they indulged in a night of pleasure.

The next day at noon, everyone in the company received the email.

The email contained a penalty of deducting Zheng Yao's year-end bonus.

Lin Ran read the email over and over again in disbelief.

That's it?

Others also found it unbelievable.

"No way, didn't they say they were going to fire her yesterday?"

"Exactly, even if the company is outrageous, it shouldn't be changing its policies so frequently."

"Moreover, given Zheng Yao's actions, it's outrageous that she only had her year-end bonus deducted."

Zheng Yao sat in the chair at the front desk and saw the emails on her computer. A huge weight was finally lifted from her heart.

She took out a powder compact from her bag and applied another layer of powder to her neck.

Last night, Fang Yu seemed to have gone mad. Her body was covered in bruises. Other parts could be covered by her clothes, but the bruises on her neck were unimaginable.

She could only try to cover it up by applying multiple layers of powder, but it still wasn't completely concealed.

Fang Yu glanced at Zheng Yao as he passed the front desk, his eyes filled with a suggestive look, and the woman returned his gaze with flirtatious glances.

However, no one noticed the interaction between the two.
