Chapter 350 Are you still alive?

No matter what he does, Chu Yunxing would never be so hesitant and stammering as he is now.

His indecisiveness made him feel like a stranger, and he was even less like himself when facing Song Mai.

"Master Yun, the purpose of what I'm saying is to make you understand that Ji Fenghe can't give Mai Zi the happiness she wants." After saying that, Lin Ran sighed.

Chu Yunxing looked up in confusion, unsure of what to say for a moment.

He was confident that he could definitely bring happiness to Song Mai.

But all of this is predicated on the fact that Song Mai was unaware of what had happened before.

If one day she regains all her memories, will she blame herself?

Chu Yunxing dared not think about it, nor could he imagine it.

Seeing the helpless expression on his face, Lin Ran vaguely guessed what he was thinking.

"If you need my help, I will do my best," Lin Ran said, then turned to pack her things.

Tomorrow is the studio's opening ceremony. Chu Yunxing looked around and saw that the decor was simple yet elegant, perfectly matching Song Mai's consistent aesthetic.

However, one thing puzzled him greatly: there was a painting on the wall in the very center of the hall.

The painting is completely black, and no image can be discerned.

Chu Yunxing frowned and examined it carefully, but still couldn't figure it out.

“Actually, there’s more to this painting than meets the eye, but I don’t intend to reveal it. One day, someone will surely see what’s in the painting,” Song Mai said with a smile, slowly walking out from behind him.

Chu Yunxing turned around and met her gaze.

"So confident?" he joked with Song Mai, but a hint of resentment lingered in his heart.

He had to be the first to see what was in the painting.

Song Mai didn't say much, but smiled mysteriously.

She showed Chu Yunxing the layout of the studio, just like when the two of them lived in the Jiangji Baidi Apartment back then, and Song Mai happily talked about the layout.

Five years have passed in the blink of an eye, and everything is still vivid in my mind.

What Chu Yunxing feared most was that Song Mai was no longer the Song Mai she used to be.

If Song Mai has changed a lot in these five years, it's as if she has indeed returned to Nandu with a completely new identity. With a new identity, even if she stands in front of him, he will only remember the Song Mai of the past.

Just as he was lost in thought, Song Mai spoke softly from the side: "Yunxing, what are you thinking about?"

"It's nothing, the layout of your studio reminded me of an old friend." Chu Yunxing smiled wryly and quickly changed the subject.

Song Mai nodded thoughtfully, then said only, "If I'm not mistaken, the old friends you mentioned are all referring to your wife, right?"

Chu Yunxing nodded, but did not respond immediately.

A moment later, Lin Ran and Su He arrived at the studio overjoyed, but seeing the two negotiating, they looked somewhat embarrassed and instinctively wanted to turn around and leave.

"You can come in now. Are you going to avoid Master Yun from now on?" Song Mai said, half-jokingly and half-seriously.

Su He shrugged, speaking with a hint of fear, "Actually, we can't be blamed for this; it's just a conditioned reflex."

This scene amused Song Mai, who shook her head helplessly and turned to look at Chu Yunxing: "I didn't expect you to be so imposing that my friends don't dare to face you."

Chu Yunxing subconsciously looked down at his outfit and asked curiously, "Do I look scary today?"

"It's not your appearance, it's your intimidating presence that comes with your composure." Song Mai couldn't help but chuckle.

After a few moments of playful banter, Chu Yunxing suddenly suggested treating everyone to dinner.

Lin Ran and Su He exchanged a glance and nodded happily.

"How could you not include me in such a wonderful meal?" Xie Wenwen walked in from outside and happened to overhear this scene.

The five people arrived at the restaurant together, creating a lively atmosphere.

Xie Wenwen and Lin Ran were exceptionally excited, chatting and laughing together.

It wasn't until Lin Ran blurted out, "Fortunately, things are not like they were back then," that things changed.

"Back then?" Song Mai leaned over curiously, her face full of gossip as she asked, "Did you already know each other back then?"

"She wasn't talking about Wenwen back then, but about me." Su He didn't quite catch on and said with a smile.

"Why not like back then?" Xie Wenwen couldn't help but feel a little puzzled.

"That car accident back then changed many people's mindset. If I could go back to that time, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to chat and laugh with you like I am now," Lin Ran couldn't help but sigh.

Song Mai found it very strange and subtly began to probe: "Why, wasn't your personality different back then?

"It's not that she looks completely different, but she's not as lively as she is now. After you left, all of us..."

Lin Ran was halfway through her sentence when she suddenly froze, and for a moment she dared not continue speaking.

Everyone turned to look at her, each with a different emotion in their eyes.

Chu Yunxing's expression was complicated. He hoped that Song Mai could recall their past experiences, but he was also afraid that she would get angry again because of the deception.

Lin Ran and Su He were filled with fear, unsure of how to end this situation.

Xie Wenwen looked at them with a gossipy expression, and after waiting for a long time without hearing an answer, she asked curiously, "Why did you stop talking? What exactly happened in that car accident?"

“That car accident took away my beloved wife, who was also their best friend. During that time, we were all very quiet and couldn’t muster any interest at all, let alone sit together happily like we are now,” Chu Yunxing immediately said, trying to smooth things over.

But now, if he were to lie, he wouldn't dare to look Song Mai in the eye.

Song Mai found his guilty look strange. She smiled calmly, hiding the suspicion in her eyes, and said in a low voice, "It's all in the past, why dwell on these sad things?"

For the rest of the time, Lin Ran and Su He ate with extra caution.

Song Mai witnessed all of this, and after everyone left, she immediately took out her computer and began searching for the car accident from that year.

Strangely, in just over five years, all the reports have been brief and incomplete.

It seems someone deliberately erased the news from that year, not wanting future generations to know about it.

Song Mai stared thoughtfully at the screen until she noticed that a reputable media outlet had reported on the incident. The article mentioned that a journalist was also a victim of the car accident.

After several twists and turns, Song Mai finally got in touch with the other party and asked if he could learn about what happened back then.

At first, the other party was very resistant and unwilling to recall it.

It wasn't until Song Mai offered him some compensation and reward that the other party relented.

The moment the two met, the driver's eyes widened in shock, leaving Song Mai speechless for a long time.

You're still alive?
