Chapter 370 Don't you remember me?

Since Chu Yunxing had spoken, no one dared to say anything more.

Two adults and a child walked into the hall, and people behind them whispered among themselves.

Song Mai seemed somewhat hesitant, glancing sideways at Chu Yunxing.

"It's alright, don't worry."

Upon hearing this, Song Mai breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'm just worried that it might implicate you."

“Since I’ve already married you, it means I have no fear. Even though so many years have passed, as long as you’re willing, I will still…” Before he could finish speaking, Chu Mingqian and Qin Jizhi appeared before everyone.

Just by making eye contact, Song Mai could already feel the threat and pressure in their eyes.

Chu Yunxing frowned subconsciously, his expression showing some displeasure.

He knew that his parents' sudden arrival was not just for a birthday party.

"Yunxing, come here for a moment, I need to talk to you." Chu Mingqian's expression was serious, barely suppressing his anger.

Liu Jiaer arrived shortly after and happened to hear those words; a smile appeared on her lips.

"Uncle, I'm late. I was delayed on the way."

When facing her, the two elders of the Chu family showed a few smiles, completely different from before.

"It's alright. Uncle Chu and I were planning to wait for you, but we didn't ask any questions because we knew you had your own things to do." Qin Jizhi's smile became even brighter.

She had always liked this future daughter-in-law, whom she had tacitly agreed to be, and was even more delighted to see her now.

Chu Yunxing was unwilling to step forward and was about to speak in a cold voice when Song Mai suddenly grabbed his wrist.

"Since your aunt and uncle are looking for you, go quickly."

Seeing Song Mai so composed, Chu Yunxing felt even more guilty.

"I'll contact you as soon as I've finished dealing with this."

Song Mai smiled as she watched him leave, and a bitter feeling welled up in her heart as she watched the two elders of the Chu family talking with Chu Yunxing and Liu Jiaer.

She looked down at An'an with a disappointed expression, and seeing her innocent look, she smiled and said, "Mommy will take you for a walk, okay?"

An'an nodded obediently, then asked thoughtfully, "Mommy, do Uncle Chu's parents not like me?"

Even a child could sense the malice of the two, and Song Mai felt as if an invisible hand was gripping her heart.

After a moment of contemplation, she smiled and shook her head: "How could that be? An'an is so sensible and obedient, no one would dislike you."

Why did Grandma look unhappy when she looked at me just now?

After a moment of contemplation, Song Mai chuckled and said, "No, you're the most sensible baby in the world. They just had something come up temporarily, that's why they're in a bad mood."

Is Mom unhappy?

Children have a much higher level of insight than adults, so Song Mai quickly changed the subject and prepared to take An An to other places.

"Miss Bai."

Qin Jizhi's voice came, his gaze cold as he looked at them, his eyes lingering on An'an.

"I have something to tell you, but is now a convenient time?"

Song Mai vaguely knew what she wanted to say, and subconsciously looked down at An An.

Children should be kept out of the way of adult matters.

Just then, Jiang Jibai arrived with Lin Ran, and Song Mai temporarily entrusted An'an to their care.

Lin Ran glanced hesitantly at Qin Jizhi, worried that Song Mai wouldn't be able to handle it.

"Call me if you need anything. I won't take An'an far away," Lin Ran said with a smile, turning to look at Qin Jizhi. "Auntie, it's been a long time."

Qin Jizhi knew she was reminding him, and he didn't want to respond.

The Jiang family and the Chu family were old friends, so he nodded casually and said, "Long time no see."

Qin Jizhi and Song Mai went to a quiet corner. Song Mai served her a cup of tea but did not speak.

Qin Jizhi sneered: "It seems you already know what I'm going to say."

"Sorry, I don't know."

Qin Jizhi slammed the water glass down on the table and said with a hint of annoyance, "You should understand that the reason you were able to gain Yun Xing's favor is entirely due to this face."

"So what?" Song Mai could sense her malice towards her, so naturally she wasn't afraid at all.

Qin Jizhi raised an eyebrow in surprise.

I thought Song Mai would be afraid of me, but I didn't expect her to be like this.

She felt her authority as an elder being challenged, and her expression grew increasingly cold: "So, you and she are simply not on the same path. I can feel Yunxing's concern for you, and you are indeed a very outstanding person. But our Chu family will absolutely not allow a woman who has been married and has a child to marry into the family."

"Auntie, don't overthink it. I'm not in a relationship with Chu Yunxing yet."

Qin Jizhi seemed to choke, and for a moment he didn't know how to speak.

Over the years, she had fought off countless girls who were trying to harass Chu Yunxing. No one had ever been as utterly disregardful of their dignity as Song Mai was now.

"It's good that you understand your place. To be honest, I've already found a suitable daughter-in-law."

Qin Jizhi's face showed a hint of contempt, his expression full of disdain.

Song Mai felt disgusted and resentful when she thought about how An An had looked at her earlier.

"Then I can only congratulate you."

"What's there to be happy about?" Qin Jizhi was naturally not naive enough to think that she was genuinely blessing him.

“Miss Liu is indeed a lady of high birth, and congratulations are certainly due. I just don’t know why your mother would be willing to let a murderer become her daughter-in-law. Aren’t you afraid of having nightmares about it later?”

No sooner had he finished speaking than he was slapped hard across the face.

Song Mai remained expressionless, slowly turning her face back to where it had been hit.

She remained calm, having anticipated this scene.

"Who do you think you are, daring to slander others here?"

“Auntie should understand what I’m talking about. Was Song Mai’s car accident back then really unrelated to Liu Jia’er? Aren’t you afraid that her schemes and every evil deed she’s committed will be exposed?” Song Mai spoke softly, yet with remarkable force.

Every word shattered Qin Jizhi's psychological defenses.

Qin Jizhi's hand trembled slightly with anger, his expression turning fierce: "Who exactly are you?"

"Auntie, don't you remember me?"

Qin Ji was taken aback, but immediately understood what she meant: "You're Song Mai?!"

"It's been six years. How have you been?"

Song Mai had a handprint on her face, but a gentle smile played on her lips. There was no ferocity in her eyes, and even her tone was flat.

This seemingly frail girl uttered words that sent Qin Jizhi plummeting into an ice cave, causing him to tremble uncontrollably.

You're still alive?

"I was lucky to escape with my life." Song Mai gracefully and slowly picked up the water glass in front of her and took a sip of tea.

"I never expected you to be so cunning, actually changing your identity to seduce my son again! I knew I was right about you back then!"
