"Of course, I doubt any southerner could resist the allure of a heavy snowfall."
At least Song Mai had never seen much snow growing up. She was born and raised in Nandu, and even went to university in the same city, never having been to any other place.
Although she later started working and occasionally needed to travel for work, she began to leave Nandu and visit other cities, but that was only for work.
I would go there and start working, and then leave once I finished. I never really explored a place properly. Even when I went to northern cities, it was always during the season when it wasn't snowing.
So it can be said that from childhood to adulthood, Song Mai has never seen a real heavy snowfall.
She stretched out her little hand to catch the snowflakes, knowing they were fake, but she was still very happy, as if they were real snow.
Being able to watch a snowfall like this every time it snows, even though it's not real, is already incredibly precious.
Chu Xing saw that her little hands were red from the cold. Although he didn't want to disturb her, he couldn't bear to let her get cold.
He grabbed her hand and, with his large hand, tucked her small hand into his coat pocket.
He held Song Mai in his arms and wrapped her in his coat.
The chill was instantly dispelled, and Song Mai's face, which had been stiff from the cold, became much more lively with a smile.
"You're still playing with your hands so cold?"
The man said with a hint of reproach.
Song Mai stuck out her tongue, looking just like a little child.
"Just this once, who knows? Maybe it won't even snow in Nandu this year? Wouldn't that mean we'll never have a chance to see snow again? We should cherish every opportunity we can."
As evening fell and the temperature plummeted, Song Mai couldn't help but wash her nose because of the cold.
Initially, it was the man who took the initiative to hold her, but after feeling a bit cold, Song Mai very proactively tucked herself into his coat, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist, trying to draw warmth from him.
"Songmai".
Chu Xing suddenly called her name.
"Um?"
Song Mai nestled in his arms. Among the crowd, there were many couples taking photos together, some playing in the snow, and others snuggling together. Song Mai and Chu Xing, however, stood out as a very eye-catching pair.
The man was handsome, the woman was beautiful, and they embraced each other as snow fell from the sky, just like a scene from an idol drama, attracting the attention of many people.
How about we go see the snow during Chinese New Year this year?
Song Mai peeked her little head out from under his coat to look at him.
"To see snow? What if it doesn't snow in the south?"
"Then let's go look elsewhere."
Where to?
The man hugged her even tighter.
"Let's go wherever it snows, not just this year, but every year from now on, let's watch the snow together, okay?"
His voice was light and airy, like snowflakes fluttering down from the sky, but when it landed on her heart, it felt heavy, making her heart tremble.
Her eyes shone with a hopeful light, sparkling beautifully, as she gazed at the man without blinking.
"May I?"
Her lips were exceptionally rosy, perhaps because of the cold weather, like a vibrant red rose or a delicious jelly.
Chu Xing met her gaze, and he clearly saw his reflection in her eyes.
The woman's eyes were so clear and bright, like a pool of icy spring water that you could see right to the bottom, making you want to stay in them forever.
The man's eyes darkened. He took a deep breath, pressed his large hand against the back of her head, and before Song Mai could react, he pressed his lips close to hers, their lips entwining.
People were coming and going around them. Although they were not in the middle of the crowd and were not particularly conspicuous, and could even be described as being close to a corner, there were still many people around them. Many young people were running around, and many children were playing and laughing, so their actions could be seen.
Song Mai was shocked that the usually reserved man was so bold. Her eyes widened in surprise, and her face turned bright red.
She reached out and pushed him away, speaking indistinctly between kisses:
"There are so many people here, don't do that."
The man, however, seemed to be addicted and continued kissing her.
They didn't separate until quite a while later.
Song Mai was both embarrassed and annoyed, and couldn't help but reach out and punch him in the chest.
"Didn't you hear what I just said? Everyone's watching."
The man's expression remained calm, reverting to his usual aloof and ascetic demeanor, making it impossible to believe that he was the same person who had just kissed her.
He may look refined, but his words are incredibly shameless.
"So what? Do I have to choose the occasion to kiss my own wife? Then what's the point of having a marriage certificate?"
Song Mai: "..."
"Then we also need to be mindful of the impact."
The man was incredibly stubborn.
"What impact should I be aware of? Today isn't Singles' Day, but I'll be more careful on Singles' Day."
As he spoke, he lowered his head and pecked Song Mai's lips again.
Song Mai was completely speechless and turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
"You haven't answered my question yet."
"What?"
"Are you willing?"
Upon hearing those four words, Song Mai's heart skipped a beat. Although she knew exactly what the point of his question was, in this atmosphere, she couldn't help but think of other things.
"I do."
She solemnly uttered those three words, the profound meaning within them stirred by the wind, only to be hidden away again in her words.
"good."
And at that moment, he seemed to have discerned the woman's thoughts.
He lowered his head and placed a kiss on her forehead, a kiss that was both passionate and full of affection.
It was already 9 p.m. when Song Mai and Chu Xing finished playing in front of the restaurant and went home.
They had planned to watch the fake snow for a while and then leave, but they didn't expect the restaurant's activities to be so good.
First, balloons were distributed, and then everyone wrote a wish on a balloon. Then, everyone released the balloons into the sky together, and everyone's wishes flew away at that moment.
Song Mai's wishes are simple: she hopes to continue being as loving as she is now, that her work will go smoothly, and that she will be healthy and have a peaceful life.
So she quickly finished writing down her wish. But when she finished writing and wanted to see what Chu Xing had written on the balloon, the man had hidden the balloon very well, and no matter how hard she looked, she couldn't see a single word written on it.
Song Mai pretended to be angry and said, "You just said I was your wife, and now you can't even see my wishes?"
Chu Xing chuckled softly.
"That's not what I meant. It's just that if others know about your wish when you make it, it won't come true."
Hearing him speak so seriously, Song Mai couldn't help but find it somewhat unbelievable.
"You actually believe this?"
Chu Xing smiled silently.
"This time, I just believed it."
He has always been a staunch believer in materialism, but this time he really wanted to fulfill his wish.
