The ward was clean, quiet, and empty, with a rich aroma of mixed herbs wafting in the air.
However, this tranquility did not last long.
Soon, the silence of the ward was broken by the sound of the door bolt rattling and the door banging against the wall.
"Lia, don't run so fast."
thump thump—
The hurried footsteps suddenly stopped, and a woman dressed in casual clothes with a slightly pale face suddenly rushed in and stood at the door of the ward.
Liya looked up at the hospital bed, her gaze momentarily blank.
She saw the man sitting on the hospital bed, wearing a white hospital gown, leaning against the windowsill with one hand, looking out the window.
A cool breeze, brought in by Lia as she pushed open the door, drifted through the ward, gently ruffling Victor's collar.
Upon seeing Viktor's face clearly, Lia felt a surge of longing wash over her, and tears welled up involuntarily.
She opened her mouth to speak, but was silently stopped by the sob that welled up in her heart, and could only move her lips slightly.
Finally, Leah managed to utter her words, her voice trembling and indistinct:
"……elder brother?"
Upon hearing that familiar voice, Victor slowly turned his head, his gaze settling on Lia.
At this moment, Lia could no longer control herself.
She strode toward Victor.
Before she had taken more than a few steps, Leah's pace quickened.
Leaning slightly forward, he started jogging.
Finally, she opened her arms and threw herself into Victor's embrace.
She hugged Viktor tightly, clutching his hospital gown with both hands, and burst into tears.
At that moment, Gwen also entered the ward.
She was still wearing the same silver-white armor that symbolized her knighthood, just as always.
It's obvious that Gwen must have been in the Knights before this.
Despite still being busy with work, she couldn't contain her excitement upon hearing the news that Victor had woken up and rushed to the hospital.
She finally calmed down when she followed Lia to the hospital and saw Victor sitting up in bed.
Like the ice of winter finally melting away with a warm current, it becomes light and lively.
"That's great, you..."
"Hey, hey, hey, family members, don't block the ward door."
Before Gwen could finish speaking, a voice sounded from behind her.
She was startled and quickly stepped aside to move aside from the ward doorway.
"Feel sorry."
She apologized, but when she turned around, she realized she couldn't see anyone at all.
It wasn't until she subconsciously looked down that she saw a petite elf standing in the doorway.
The other person was wearing an oversized white lab coat, and Gwen felt that she was at least a head and a half taller than him.
After Gwen moved aside, Cocotte squeezed back into the ward.
She glanced at Lia, who was still clinging to Victor, and coughed softly.
"Ahem, let me make this clear from the start: the patient's injuries have not yet fully healed."
"If you keep pressing on him like this, and his old injury flares up, that could be a real problem."
Hearing this reminder, Lia quickly looked up.
The tear stains at the corners of her eyes were still clearly visible, and her nose was rosy and shiny.
Upon seeing Cocotte in her white lab coat, she quickly stood up and said somewhat shyly:
“I’m very sorry, Representative Yad.”
"I was a little too excited to see Viktor wake up."
Lia and the others naturally knew Kokot's identity, after all, she was a fourth-tier mage specially appointed by the Mage Council to be in charge of Viktor's treatment.
When other doctors were at a loss, they could only place their last hope on Kokote.
As expected, Kokot lived up to expectations and revived Viktor in just a few days.
This alone is enough to make Lia hold Kokot in the highest esteem.
However, the large pea flower hanging on Viktor's body did look rather strange.
When Viktor saw Cocot arrive, he was very relieved that he could finally catch his breath.
Then, he turned to look at Cocotte and asked:
"Why are you here again? Didn't you say your mission was complete? I can only..."
"Hey, don't talk nonsense."
Before Victor could finish speaking, Kokot interrupted him.
She glanced back at Leah and Gwen, and seeing that neither of them seemed to be acting strangely, she then feigned impatience and said:
"I was hired by your empire at a high price, so I can't explain myself if I don't completely cure you."
"However, your injury can only recover to this extent for now, and you will need more care afterward."
"As your attending physician, I will reluctantly continue to help you recover until your injuries are fully healed."
As she spoke, she confidently raised her head and puffed out her chest, gently pounding her chest with her small hand, displaying an extremely proud demeanor.
She secretly opened one eye to observe Viktor's reaction.
Seeing that Viktor remained silent, she lowered her head again and continued to ask:
"What, are you worried that your family will have any objections?"
As she spoke, she turned her head and glanced at Leah again, then at Gwen behind her.
Lia was the first to speak out:
"How could that be!? I am already very grateful for your help in treating my brother, and you still need to spend more time and energy to help him continue his treatment."
"I don't know how to thank you enough."
At the same time, Gwen behind him placed one hand on her chest in a knightly gesture, expressing her full respect to Cocotte.
"Thank you for your help to my husband, I am very grateful."
