Sparse dark clouds streaked across the ink-splattered sky, and the moon floated in the night, gradually shifting with the gentle breeze.
The capital was draped in a thick, dark curtain.
The flickering candlelight ignited from the silence, its reddish-yellow glow resembling stars spilled onto the earth.
On the deserted street, a horse-drawn carriage rolled over the cobblestones, the creaking sound carrying on into the distance.
Under the lamplight, the enormous carriage flashed across the shimmering yellow road and gradually came to a stop in front of the Du Chloe mansion.
The carriage seemed somewhat eerie at night, perhaps because it appeared to be moving out of thin air, which was quite surprising.
The gates of Chloe's mansion slowly opened, and servants on both sides stepped out respectfully to greet the arriving guests.
The carriage door opened, and Victor slowly stepped down from the carriage, shaking off his trench coat.
After he got off, the carriage door was not closed, and Henney followed Victor as he gradually got off the carriage.
Henney stood in front of the mansion gate, looking around curiously.
When she first arrived at the Duke's house, she was amazed by the scenery around her.
The courtyard behind the gate was extremely spacious, with numerous streetlights nailed to both sides of the road.
The dim yellow lights gathered together, making the entire courtyard appear particularly bright.
In the very center of the courtyard stood a fountain, shimmering with starlight under the lights.
The light, shining from who knows where, illuminated the family banners on the walls of the mansion, making them appear especially grand.
Led by a servant, Victor and Henney entered the mansion.
The two were led into a huge conference room.
Henney and Victor sat on a row of sofas, looking around at their surroundings.
The spacious room was covered with thick carpets, and the soft touch could even be felt through the soles of your shoes and spread throughout your body.
Incense burned in the fireplace, filling the air with a refined and gentle atmosphere.
The room was not illuminated by any magical lights; only simple candlelight and a fireplace provided light in the dim room.
The maid bowed slightly to the two of them and said very elegantly:
"Please wait a moment, the Duke will be down shortly."
Victor nodded, and the servants gradually withdrew.
Just about a minute later, Duke Reeves entered the meeting room and greeted Victor with a smile:
"Welcome, Congressman Victor."
The Duke invited Victor privately that night, speaking in a completely different tone than during the day.
He addressed Victor as a councilor, deliberately omitting Victor's title.
Viktor nodded as well, his expression remaining calm.
Revi sat down directly in front of Viktor, looking curiously at Hennie beside Viktor with a somewhat puzzled expression:
"He looks familiar. Who is this?"
"My former teaching assistant is now an associate professor in the college."
You can think of him as my assistant.
Levi suddenly realized who the girl in front of him was.
In that battle against the demons, at the end, Victor carried the girl away from the blasted crater.
Reeve also remembered that Victor, the teaching assistant, had exceptionally high academic qualifications.
The demon used her knowledge to construct a massive barrier that could cover the entire academy, enveloping countless people within it.
The college has so many lecturers and professors, yet none of them could crack it.
This demonstrates Henney's abilities.
Upon seeing Reeves, Henney quickly stood up and bowed to him:
"Your Grace, Duke."
She was no longer timid, unlike when she first arrived.
Hene kept reminding herself.
In public, she must always appear composed and proper.
We must not embarrass Professor Victor.
Reeve smiled and nodded to Hene.
He was about to say something polite, but when he looked at Hennie, his eyes narrowed slightly.
He sensed a strong magical power emanating from Heni.
'A second-tier mage?'
Levi was very puzzled, because he remembered that when he saw Heni before, she was just an ordinary person without any magic.
And now...
How long has it been?
If it wasn't because Heni deliberately concealed her magic, then she must have encountered some extremely special event that awakened the magic within her.
Reeve glanced at Victor beside him.
He was more inclined to believe the latter of Henney's guesses.
At this moment, Victor spoke up:
"Your Grace, what is Erica doing?"
"Henry taught her for a few days, so I'm really looking forward to seeing her now."
Reeve understood the meaning behind Victor's words, and then called to the servants:
"Take this young lady to Erica's room; she should be studying there now."
Upon hearing this, the maid bowed to Henne and gestured for Henne to follow behind her.
Then, led by the maid, Henney went up to the second floor.
Only Revi and Victor remained in the entire meeting room, along with a one-eyed raven.
With no one else around, Levi asked:
"I don't remember inviting anyone else, so..."
You should give me a reason.
The crow on his shoulder pecked at its wing, and Victor stroked the bird's head as he explained to Revi;
"She is a crucial part of me."
Levi frowned, somewhat puzzled.
Although he was surprised that the ordinary people he had seen before had become second-tier mages, Heni was still an ordinary second-tier mage.
What kind of help can a second-tier mage provide?
