Chapter 35 Pain

"Heh, I'll apply to the dean. Tomorrow, Viktor's course will be handed over to me."

"As for you, you'd better pack your things and get out of the academy!"

Professor Devon, like a proud rooster, looked up at Hennie with disdain and swaggered away.

Hene was left alone, quietly standing at the corner with her books in her arms.

Her mind was in a mess, and she could only subconsciously walk towards the classroom.

As soon as I stepped into Class 1, the already quiet noise subsided.

The students saw the familiar teaching assistant, Henny, but no one reacted excessively.

In the days since Professor Victor left, Henne's teaching abilities have been generally recognized by all the students.

But the teaching assistant seemed a bit off today.

The usual ease and friendliness were gone, replaced by absent-mindedness and a worried expression.

Hene walked heavily to the podium and placed the thick book on it.

Her gaze swept over the students below, specifically focusing on the seat at the very front.

That was Erica's spot, but now it was deserted.

Like Professor Victor, Erica hadn't been to the school for a long time since the mages left the capital.

The two disappeared together as if by prior arrangement, leaving Henney with no one to talk to.

She desperately wanted to know the truth, including whether Victor was really dead.

But Erica wasn't there, and she had no sources of information.

So Henney could only force a smile and begin her lesson.

In any case, these students' classes cannot be neglected.

"Alright, today's lesson is about 'The Composition of Traditional Imperial Magic Runes'..."

Soon, Heni got back into the zone, and the students in the audience listened attentively.

Everything seemed to be going so smoothly.

Halfway through the class, Hennie was reading a paper when she suddenly froze.

The contents of the book were covered by a line of black text, which seemed to wriggle across the pages as if it were alive.

Henney was startled and slammed the book heavily onto the podium.

The black text kept extending tentacles and spreading in all directions, as if it would wrap around Heni's body at any moment.

The words scattered across the book gradually became frantic, desperately craving something.

The text remains unchanged.

Do you want power?

Henney couldn't take it anymore. She suddenly slammed her hand on the lectern and shouted angrily:

"I don't need it!"

At that moment, the classroom fell silent. The students were all stunned, wondering what had triggered Henny's sudden outburst of emotion.

After venting her anger, Hennie finally realized what had happened and could only bow her head to the students and say sorry.

Then he picked up the book and absentmindedly finished the lecture.

After the bell rang, Hennie didn't even announce the end of get out of class; she immediately grabbed her books and rushed out the door.

Walking down the street, Hene kept her head down and didn't say a word.

She felt that many people were staring at her, which made her feel strangely annoyed.

Hene suddenly turned around and looked around. The passersby were either hurrying by, looking down at their books, or chatting in pairs. No one was staring at her.

Perhaps it was Professor German's words today that affected her mindset.

Henney tried very hard to stop thinking about Victor; even now, she still hoped that Professor Victor was not dead.

Within this academy, the only person who cared about her was Viktor.

"stop."

A cold and arrogant voice suddenly rang out from behind.

Henney shuddered and turned around.

What she saw was Professor German.

Professor Devon arrogantly threw a contract in front of Henney.

Hene picked it up and looked at it, unable to believe it.

What is clearly written above is:

'Since Professor Viktor has been unable to return to the academy to teach, the German professor will be taking over the class from now on.'

Upon seeing this, Henney trembled slightly, and her face turned much paler. She looked at Professor Devon in disbelief.

The German professor looked at Henney with a smug expression and said:

“As a professor, I have the right to fire a teaching assistant like you who isn’t even a monk.”

"Starting tomorrow, you don't need to come to the academy anymore!"

Suddenly, a startling flame erupted from the book in Henney's hand, like a venomous snake, devouring it frantically.

No matter how much Henny struggled, the burning pain in her hands could not extinguish it.

She was so anxious she was almost crying, her voice trembling with sobs as she cried out:

"No! No!"

But the flames of magic are not so easily extinguished.

Finally, after her resistance proved futile, Hennie knelt on the ground in grief, covered in dust, and the book filled with her knowledge turned to ashes.

That was her only life's work, her knowledge, her dream.

They were all burned to ashes in the flames.

More and more people gathered by the roadside, but no one went forward to comfort them.

No one would care about a lowly teaching assistant, especially one as disheveled as she was.

Professor Devon humiliated her in public and left satisfied.

From beginning to end, he never paid any attention to Henney.

This is the source of the hostility others felt towards Viktor.

After Henney became Victor's teaching assistant, they transferred their hostility towards Victor onto Henney.
