Chapter 397 Hmm, feels good.

I saw Michaela place Victor's hand on her own chest.

Zola's brain went blank, and he froze on the spot.

She quickly regained her senses, her cheeks flushing as red as apples. She pointed at Michaela, looking bewildered, and asked:

"What...what...what are you doing?!"

"How can you, as a bishop of the Church of Abundance and a believer in God, be so shameless!"

Didn't Mr. Victor say that he already has a fiancée?

So what's going on with these two people's behavior now?

When Michaela heard Zola's voice, she turned around and looked at Zola's blushing face with a half-smile.

"Oh."

A soft sound, yet it concealed a deep sense of mockery.

Sensing the provocation, Zola felt a surge of nameless anger welling up inside her.

She lowered her hand from her eyes and clenched it into a fist.

Michaela, who was standing right in front of him, did not say a word. In fact, she was blindfolded, as if she were blind.

But she could always feel Michaela's subtle gaze and a clear sense of mockery.

Even then, Michaela still didn't let go of Viktor's hands.

Instead, they said it as a matter of course:

“His Excellency Victor has done great things for our Abundant Church. As a bishop, I naturally want to repay him.”

"I'm willing to sacrifice myself."

It was as if they were saying to her, "She's even willing to call Victor the godfather of their church, what makes you think you can compare to me?"

But before she could finish speaking, Viktor withdrew his hand.

Feeling the emptiness in her chest, Michaela was clearly not expected by this change and looked at him in astonishment.

“That joke went a bit too far, Bishop Michaela.”

Victor looked at her, casually putting his hands in his pockets.

His deep gaze held a hint of rejection:

"I will not side with any god."

The smug, amused look on Michaela's face gradually disappeared.

Instead, there was shock and disbelief.

Viktor's reply clearly surprised her.

But.....

All the miracles of the goddess of abundance descending to earth were accomplished by Lord Victor.

Even now, the streets and grounds of Shulburn are still covered with golden waves of wheat, a symbol of fertility.

The deeds of the goddess of justice who appeared in the city of mages have spread throughout the entire continent.

The scales of justice have become the symbol of the Mage Council.

Now, Viktor is saying that he will not side with any god?

No, it's like he slept with two goddesses and then turned his back on them afterward.

Zola watched Michaela's reaction and a smug smile curled at the corners of his mouth.

The "proud bishop" who had just dared to provoke her was now filled with shock.

He was just calling Viktor his 'godfather' a moment ago, but now Viktor has denied it. Isn't that a slap in the face?

Seeing Michaela get the short end of the stick made Zola feel a sense of pleasure.

After all, the other party went against her from the very beginning.

"As for your situation..."

At that moment, Victor suddenly turned around and looked at Zola:

"Then we'll have to see how sincere your chamber of commerce is."

Upon hearing this, Zola raised an eyebrow and a smile immediately appeared on his face.

She saw a glimmer of hope and a potential partnership.

So Zola suppressed his excitement and tried his best to appear calm.

He nodded and quickly said:

"Mr. Victor, please rest assured. You are a distinguished guest of our Cassidra Chamber of Commerce."

"We will prepare a satisfactory contract proposal and deliver it to you as soon as possible."

She bowed deeply to Victor.

Beneath the surface calm, her heart was pounding like a chaotic drumbeat.

Then, she raised her eyebrows and looked at Michaela again, as if a victor was mocking a loser.

He turned around, his steps light, and left the scene with a self-satisfied air.

Michaela's expression was somewhat stiff. She watched Zola's figure recede into the distance, then turned back cautiously to 'look' at Victor.

Taking a deep breath, she asked, her voice trembling:

“Mr. Viktor…”

"You...you also hope that the gods cannot return?"

But why?

She couldn't quite understand.

Why does Victor manipulate the power of the gods, yet hope they cannot return?

Isn't that a bit contradictory?

Besides, wouldn't it be better to let the gods return?

Michaela recalled the scene of the goddess of fertility appearing in Shulbon, where the streets were filled with golden waves of bountiful wheat.

The inhabitants of the territory benefited from this agricultural bounty, and their lives became increasingly prosperous.

The appearance of the Goddess of Justice in the city of mages strengthened the belief in justice and the pursuit of morality among many mages.

More and more mages are appearing among the people, and their willingness to help others has allowed more people to witness the justice and kindness of the Mage Council.

People have a greater acceptance of the Mage Council, and their previous aversion and indifference towards the Goddess of Justice have also improved considerably.

At least the manifestation of these two deities has brought many people a better experience and a better life.

Everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction.

However, Viktor's next words directly refuted Michaela's belief.

"The gods don't do these things; they just send down guides to their own doctrines."

"Those who are really doing these things are the believers who use the name of God."
