Erica felt lost, unsure of where to go from here.
The surroundings were enveloped in a deep, silent darkness, with not a trace of life to be detected.
The disc beneath their feet was almost completely destroyed, with lava flowing through it and flames burning inside.
At first, Erica thought this space was just a battleground.
Only after Professor Victor finished speaking did she realize again that...
Oh, right, this place seems to be a prison for souls.
Thinking of this, Erica couldn't help but turn back and glance at Thanatos, who was engulfed in flames.
Thanatos's "corpse" had vanished, leaving only a tattered cloak still engulfed in flames, burning relentlessly.
The god responsible for guarding, imprisoning, and transporting the souls of the dead in the depths of the underworld was Thanatos, whom he had just fought.
Just now, Erica almost killed the other party.
Erica: "..."
We can't let this cause any trouble...
Oh no, I was so focused on how to beat it that I didn't even realize this.
Could Death really be that fragile...? He just died like that?
With this sense of uncertainty, Erica heard Victor's calm voice resonate in her heart:
"Stand in the middle of the disc."
Erica nodded, then looked up and gazed ahead.
Despite the collapse of the surrounding environment, the center of the disc remained intact, standing tall in the center of the dark void.
She took a step and walked towards the center of the disc-shaped ground.
The moment her foot touched the center of the disc, hazy blue runes and intricate patterns lit up around her.
Then, chunks of azure flame rose up, slicing crookedly along the edge of the disc.
As time passed, the blue fluorescence slowly circled the entire edge of the disk.
Erica stood there, bewildered by what she was seeing.
She couldn't help but ask Victor:
"Professor, what is this?"
Upon hearing Erica's question, a calm voice quickly resounded in her mind.
"Thanatos, the god of death, is in charge of guarding the souls here; you can think of this as his territory."
"Now that you have defeated it and obtained its weapon, you have obtained the key to manage this place."
Erica stared blankly at the ground beneath her.
Then she reached out and picked up the sickle hanging on her back again, examining it carefully.
The top of the jet-black handle was a piece of purple flesh, within which there seemed to be a slightly closed eye.
The sharp blade emerged from the flesh, with wisps of black smoke drifting through it, shimmering with a faint glow.
Erica's eyes were filled with astonishment.
This thing is actually the key to managing this prison.
Does that mean she's now the new Grim Reaper?
Erica's thoughts became increasingly absurd, her mind racing.
Just as she was examining the scythe in her hand, the surrounding azure flames had already completed their entire circulation.
A wall of fire encircled Erica from all sides.
Immediately afterwards, a mesmerizing deep blue fluorescence flickered in the depths of her pupils.
Her eyes were wide open, and her whole body froze in place.
Right now, Erica is immersed in her own world, or rather, she is immersed in the scenery in her mind.
She felt a strange image appear in her mind.
Erica's gaze froze, staring straight ahead as if she could see everything.
The entire Copper Fortress was not just a part of what she saw.
You could even say that the place she was in was just the entrance.
She slowly lowered her head, her gaze seemingly penetrating the disc-shaped earth and seeing the deeper layers of the underworld.
The first level is a frozen hell filled with endless souls of the dead.
This hell is perpetually shrouded in bitter cold, and the souls of the dead who are being punished are pale and cold.
They huddled on the ice, silently enduring the long, arduous journey.
Further down lies the molten inferno, surrounded by endless flames.
The rocks, like bamboo shoots, stand tall above the abyss, their scorched red color making the departed souls restless.
But once you leave the rocks, you are surrounded by flowing lava and raging fire.
Millions of souls could only huddle together, sleepless day and night, enduring the scorching heat of the flames.
Layer upon layer, like an eternal abyss.
Mountains of knives, seas of blood, and even forests of snakes and insects.
Various forms of punishment appear in this ever-deepening hell, while the number of souls is becoming increasingly sparse.
Erica even glimpsed, deep within the underworld, those special, immortal, red spirits that Thanatos had shown her before.
And these floods of information have never been able to tell Erica what it is.
Erica's gaze finally penetrated to the deepest part of the underworld, and the sight there made her freeze completely.
This final layer is completely different from the many hardships that came before.
There are no punishments here; all around is an extremely desolate space, with boundless darkness pervading the surroundings.
In this vast, empty place, at the very center stood an arena made of countless white bones.
Looking at those hideous and malevolent skeletons, Erica felt goosebumps rise all over her body.
Even her scalp tingled, and a strong sense of discomfort overwhelmed her at that moment.
"Where... exactly is this place?"
What Erica saw naturally also fell into Victor's eyes.
