Leon stood in front of the study door at the Clavner mansion.
Beside her was a black cat-like demi-human dressed in a black guard uniform.
There were no lights in the corridor, but the light emanating from the study cast long shadows of the two women.
At midnight, the mansion was already completely silent.
Usually, only Miss Lia stays up all night dealing with territory affairs.
At this time, everyone else in the mansion had long since gone to bed.
However, the situation is different today.
The black cat-like demi-human stood next to Leon, looking extremely uncomfortable.
She kept adjusting her hat, seemingly trying to maintain a proper image in front of Leon.
And her body seemed unable to remain calm.
Its tail was always wagging, and its two slender, cat-like legs rubbed back and forth.
It looked like bugs were crawling under her hair, making her feel unbearably itchy and painful.
But in reality, it was the serious aura emanating from Leon that made the black cat-like demi-human feel very restrained.
This left the demi-human, who was still a cat at heart, somewhat at a loss.
She endured the discomfort and secretly glanced at Leon.
Leon stood with her legs together, completely still.
She crossed her arms and stared intently ahead, looking like a lifelike wax figure.
The black cat-like demi-human leaned over and cautiously tentatively asked:
"Lady Leon, can I...?"
"cannot."
Before she could finish speaking, Leon's reply was swift and resolute, delivered in an unquestionable tone.
"If you leave, what will happen when Miss Lia comes back and finds that the information is false?"
"Meow!?"
These words startled the black cat demi-human.
She had only been rushing to deliver the news from the capital.
Unexpectedly, instead of receiving a reward, I am now forced to stay.
And judging from her appearance, she might not be doing well.
What worries her even more is that Miss Leah has a strong aversion to spreading false information and has always severely punished such behavior.
She had also heard that those who spread false information had been subjected to torture and horrific acts by Miss Leah, including having their hearts ripped out, their skin peeled off, and being buried alive.
Thinking of this, the black cat demi-human felt immense regret.
But then I thought about it again, and it wasn't exactly fake news that she was spreading.
After all, the message she conveyed came from the demi-human scouts in the capital before the blockade.
Even if they spread false information, it was them who did it!
Thinking of this, Chief Black Cat felt more confident.
I decided to explain everything as soon as Miss Lia returned.
There was one thing she couldn't understand no matter how much she thought about it.
Why did Miss Lia run off like a madwoman after asking her a few questions?
Are these issues somehow related?
As Black Cat Sheriff stood there, his mind wandering.
Heavy footsteps gradually echoed from outside the corridor.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
As a demi-human, her hearing is many times more sensitive than that of humans.
She can clearly hear sounds even from a distance.
When the black cat demi-human heard the noise, he was initially pleasantly surprised, but he almost blurted out the words.
"It's Liya..."
But then, her voice abruptly stopped.
Because she seemed to have misheard.
This sound wasn't Miss Lia's footsteps.
Miss Leah's footsteps should be lighter and slower, usually accompanied by the crisp sound of her slippers rubbing against the floor.
On the contrary, the voice was deep and steady.
Each step seemed to follow some mysterious rule, steady and firm.
The sound made the black cat's ears perk up, and its fur stood on end involuntarily.
Two cat eyes stared wide open in the dim light of the corridor, their pupils gleaming with an eerie light.
The sound grew clearer and closer.
She felt a tingling sensation all over her body.
Oh no, has Clevner Manor been invaded?
Oh no, how scary! How come no one noticed?
Miss Leah, Mr. Helnason...
And Lady Leon!
Her intuition told her that the uninvited guest who was about to arrive was extremely powerful.
But the thought that Lady Leon was still by her side brought her some peace of mind.
Bravely sticking out his head, his eyes were fixed on the corridor ahead.
Crunch—Crunch—
With each step, the mansion's staircase emitted a mournful, weathered sound.
The black cat-like creature narrowed its eyes, observing more intently.
Gradually, a familiar figure in a trench coat came into her view.
The outline of the trench coat was faintly visible in the dim light.
Although only the general outline can be seen, the size is similar to that of Miss Leah's.
The black cat girl was a little puzzled; she thought it was Miss Lia who had returned.
After all, apart from Miss Lia, not many people like to wear trench coats.
But as the other party gradually approached, the black cat-like demi-human stared blankly ahead, opening its mouth.
Huh? Why does her hair look a bit short? And she seems to have grown quite a bit taller too.
Moreover, the body appears somewhat large.
It looks like a... man?
When that figure finally stepped onto the stairs, the black cat's eyes suddenly froze in the dim light.
Because that really was a man.
The other person's face was cold and calm, looking just as expressionless as Miss Lia's.
His deep eyes, however, appeared indifferent and calm, always exuding an unfathomable and profound aura.
