Black wings, obscuring the sky, spread proudly above the clock tower, while the dim sunset cast a sacred glow upon the silhouette of the goddess of justice.
The golden scales in her left hand emitted a melodious and sacred light, its brilliance even overshadowing the entire vast Shulburn.
Countless residents hiding in the houses pressed themselves against the windows, dumbfounded.
As that sacred light slowly bathed my entire body, I felt a mixture of awe and reverence.
"What...what's going on?"
Who is the woman who appeared in the sky?
Those jet-black wings, though seemingly profound and mysterious, exuded an indescribable sacred aura.
Countless questions and shocks resonated in the hearts of the residents of Shulbourne, and sprang up rapidly in every corner of the city like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.
For many of the people who have lived here for generations, this was the first time they had ever seen this mysterious goddess.
It was as if... a god had descended.
With the recent surge in crime in Shulburn, many residents are even afraid to step out of their homes.
This has resulted in only a few scattered pedestrians remaining on the streets.
Sensing the divine aura descending upon them, they all looked up in awe.
But when the deep black figure of the goddess of justice came into their view, many people's faces failed to show any emotional fluctuation.
Their eyes were vacant, their voices hollow.
"goddess?"
goddess?
This title made many shocked residents realize that there was indeed a deity who looked remarkably like the goddess before them.
"That! That's the goddess of justice!!!"
The scattered people on the street began to confirm with each other, nodding in agreement.
"I remember now, the Goddess of Justice does indeed possess such a pair of wings!"
"Indeed, and that Libra is just too obvious."
"But why are the gods black?"
As soon as the question was raised, the nearby residents quickly refuted it:
"Fool! Isn't this exactly what the goddess image circulating in the Mage Council looks like?!"
"yes!"
Because the Goddess of Justice had appeared in the Council of Mages, the Council claimed that they were once the orthodox church of the Goddess of Justice.
Furthermore, the fact that the Council of Mages had once captured a deity who had fallen to earth further spread their reputation for good and justice.
As time went on, almost everyone came to agree that only the Council of Mages was the orthodox church of the Goddess of Justice.
But why did the image of the Goddess of Justice suddenly appear in the sky above Shulburn?
Just as everyone was shrouded in doubt, the resident who had just called out the Goddess of Justice acted particularly strangely.
He clutched his head tightly, veins bulging on his forehead.
She was slightly curled up, trembling incessantly, and muttering unsettling words in a low voice.
His mechanical yet eerie voice seeped into the ears of the surrounding residents, attracting the attention and onlookers of passersby.
“She…is not…she…is definitely not like that.”
The man's murmurs became increasingly indistinct, and his body trembled and became more chaotic.
Immediately, passersby noticed his pained expression and, driven by curiosity, moved slightly closer.
Some of the women clung tightly to their partners, their faces showing slight fear.
A slightly bolder man stepped forward and asked with concern:
"Hey, what's wrong with you...?"
Before the words were even finished, the sudden turn of events caused everyone present to widen their eyes and turn ashen-faced.
They felt a pungent stench and a chilling, oppressive feeling envelop them, the bone-chilling cold sending shivers down their spines.
At the same time, a chilling, distorted black scene filled everyone's vision.
The eerie tentacles, like the arms of a demon, snaked out from the unfortunate man's seven orifices.
It was as if flesh and blood were being forcibly torn apart, with bright red blood and internal organs spilling out.
Even in this terrifying form, its bizarre mouthparts, covering its entire body, continued to change, emitting hoarse, indistinct whispers:
"Absolutely not...a goddess."
The inhabitants of Shulburn had never seen such a horrifying creature.
As the monster's flesh began to violently burst from people's bodies, panic and screams spread through the streets like a plague.
The sparse crowd began to flee in a frantic panic of chaos and fear.
The mother held her child tightly, and the partners pulled each other, desperately trying to escape this twisted monster.
"It's a monster!!!"
A sharp cry pierced the street, and the chaotic footsteps echoed in a mesmerizing tangle on the stone surface.
No one could have imagined that their fellow human beings, who were just around them, would suddenly turn into a terrifying monster.
At this moment, the monster continued to expand, squeezing the original human body into pieces.
It twitched its chaotic body, spewing out viscous, corrosive liquid, and swaying its tentacles that covered its entire body.
The monster, as if enraged, swung its incredibly long tentacles, tearing apart the shops and buildings on both sides of the street.
The pitch-black tentacles traced a dark path in the air before delivering a fatal blow to the fleeing crowd.
A piercing shriek echoed behind the couple as the rapidly moving tentacles transformed into sharp blades, about to pierce them.
Terrified, the woman froze on the spot, closed her eyes tightly, and let out a piercing scream.
However, the expected pain and death did not come.
The woman felt her heart racing with tension and shakily opened her eyes.
She saw a purple vine tightly wrapped around the dark tentacles.
