Because in this era, outward kindness is merely a cover for inner evil.
"If you think goodness is normal, then why do you still see so many evil people acting in the name of good deeds while you are still on earth?"
This is what the Goddess of Justice finds most puzzling, and also what she hates most.
The whole era is showing kindness and beauty, but Libra tells her that hidden behind this is a perverse evil.
Since evil exists, it should be completely eradicated.
Why not just keep the purely good aspects?
Was she wrong?
At this moment, Victor is ready to unveil the surface of the incident and reveal the deeper truth to Astraea.
Why should I do good deeds? Just because I'm supposed to?
"Now I'll tell you, the only reason I helped you clean up that mess was because I had my own agenda."
Victor took a deep breath, withdrew his finger from the head of the goddess of justice, and put his hands back in his pockets.
His brows furrowed slowly, and a sharp killing intent emanated from his deep obsidian eyes.
It was like a bottomless, blood-red dark lake, suffocating to the eye.
"Because I want to kill you."
Upon hearing this, the goddess of justice was startled.
Her voice trembled slightly, as if she were hearing this for the first time:
"Why."
"Because you've taken over my wife's body."
Viktor's expression remained cold, and he stated bluntly:
“I killed all your followers to weaken your power and to completely eliminate you before you take over Gwen.”
"Although something went wrong along the way, resulting in you still taking over my wife's body, it does not lessen my hatred for you in the slightest."
"Tell me, in my eyes, is the mysterious entity that possesses my wife's body evil, and should it be killed?"
Astraea remained silent for a long time.
After Victor finished speaking, Astraea was slightly stunned, and she could clearly feel a surge of emotion welling up from the depths of her heart.
That was the emotion conveyed by the true owner of this body, her divine messenger.
It is joy, it is relief.
This is an emotion she herself would never have.
Finally, she looked at Victor again and nodded calmly:
"yes."
"Then you expect me to do good deeds out of kindness?"
Viktor's tone was stern, almost a reprimand.
“I did good deeds in order to kill you, therefore I destroyed Shulburn and created this battlefield.”
"Now, I'll ask you again, should I have killed him?"
Astraea was silent for a moment, then calmly lowered her head, and a deep voice slowly came from her mouth:
"It shouldn't be like that."
"Why shouldn't we!"
Viktor's voice revealed a sense of disappointment and frustration, which startled her.
As a high and mighty deity, she had never been rebuked by a human like this before.
Only Victor dared to stand before her, repeatedly and loudly questioning her, even resorting to vulgar language.
But she had no intention of attacking him.
On one hand, she still harbored reservations about the man before her, because Victor's power had already gained Astraea's approval.
On the other hand, she felt that Victor made sense.
Evil people should be eliminated.
But the response he received was not Viktor's approval, but rather his renewed questioning:
"You mean, because you've been convinced, you believe you are evil?"
"So you willingly committed suicide in front of the enemy?"
Astraea nodded again, but then, sensing something amiss, shook her head.
Now, she is being driven crazy by Viktor.
She believed she was a bad person and therefore should commit suicide.
But the word 'enemy' that Viktor mentioned made her start to reflect.
One's own enemies should be eliminated.
But Astraea herself didn't realize it.
At that moment, her inner turmoil gradually led her to develop independent thought.
This was the first time she had truly learned to think.
Viktor quietly observed her struggle, sometimes nodding, sometimes shaking his head.
Finally, he said it directly in a cold tone:
"So, can you, now, decide my good and evil?"
Hearing the sound, Astraea snapped out of her daze and turned her gaze back to Viktor.
She shook her head.
How should she judge Victor's good and evil?
In order to fight her, he summoned followers and destroyed the entire Shulbon—this is evil.
To save his wife, he killed the evil god who possessed her body—this was good.
Even the scales of Libra probably cannot accurately measure Victor's good and evil.
This is why, when even Libra cannot accurately measure good and evil, Astraea usually relies on her own eyes.
She believes that anyone who commits evil should be punished, regardless of whether they have done good deeds in the past.
For Astraea, goodness is taken for granted.
But evil must be brought to justice.
But Victor gave her a new way of thinking.
No one does good deeds simply for the sake of doing good.
Even the truly virtuous person does good deeds for a certain purpose.
Whether it's wanting to see others happy or simply seeking praise.
Kindness and justice are not instincts.
Perhaps some people are naturally inclined to help others, and their acts of kindness are also to satisfy their own feelings.
But this was their goal in itself, not just a simple instinct.
