To this day, no one knows where Viktor went.
After a while, when everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, the nobles' banquet finally came to an end.
But just as this nobleman who had mentioned Victor was returning home by carriage, a terrible thing happened.
The carriage suddenly stopped halfway through its journey.
The nobleman was immediately displeased. He lifted the curtain in front of the carriage window and roared out through the window:
"What happened? Why did it suddenly stop?"
However, he was only met with the driver's silence and the chirping of birds from the branches in the night.
This made the nobles feel somewhat uneasy.
He's not stupid.
Especially in his position, he would always be vigilant about his safety.
No, is there any danger?
Recalling the mysterious deaths of those seventeen family heads a year ago,
Then I remembered that he had mentioned the name 'Victor' at the banquet earlier.
The nobleman's expression changed drastically; his drunkenness vanished instantly, and a terrifying premonition rose in his heart.
Surely no one is really trying to assassinate him.
But this is Duke Riviera's territory. Would anyone really dare to assassinate a nobleman who has just left a banquet near the Duke's house?
In the unbelievable silence, he finally cautiously peeked out.
The coachman in front of the carriage did not leave, nor was he harmed.
He remained seated in the carriage, with no suspicious figures in sight.
This left the nobleman extremely confused, and his previous fear vanished.
He opened the carriage door, stepped off, and stood in front of the coachman who was looking down as if asleep.
The nobleman pointed at the coachman's nose and roared:
"Why aren't you leaving yet!"
"I'm paying you to sit in the carriage and rest!"
Finally, as if awakened, the driver reacted.
He suddenly raised his head, his face tilting sharply in the direction of the nobleman's voice.
But strangely, the driver's neck was not straight.
Instead, it broke in an extremely unusual way, causing his face to look upwards in a bizarre posture.
His eyes were wide open, empty and lifeless, like two lifeless stone balls.
Then, the driver mechanically opened his mouth and squeezed out a harsh, hoarse sound from his throat, like a grinding wheel rubbing against a rock:
"Why...why..."
"Why are you able to become a nobleman..."
"And I can only be a hired civilian."
These sudden words startled the nobleman; his eyes widened, and he took a slight step back.
What are you saying?
"What nobles, what commoners..."
But before he could finish speaking, the coachman had already leaped off the carriage at incredible speed.
Under the cover of darkness, they swooped down like bats.
The coachman leaped down and used his immense strength to pin the nobleman down, rendering him unable to move.
"Help! Help me!"
No matter how much the nobles cried out, they ultimately received no help.
The desperate cries for help blended into the night, disappearing without a trace.
Driven by intense jealousy and desire among the common people,
The nobleman's body was cruelly torn in two by his strength.
This nobleman was not an isolated case.
Why did such a tragedy occur near the Duke of Riviera's estate, yet no one offered any help?
Overnight, almost all the nobles attending the Duke's banquet were implicated.
They were either attacked by their relatives and friends, or they themselves became puppets of their desires.
Greed, rage, envy.
Overnight, the entire capital was plunged into chaos.
Those who were fortunate enough to escape this calamity fled the capital.
They all looked up, their eyes filled with hope, towards the sky above the capital.
But the sky above had long since lost all color.
All that remained were the whistling crimson iron filings, the greedy black ink, and the jealous thorns, intertwined and covering the entire sky.
