Chapter 62 First Test of Skill

Jiang Hao was itching to get his hands on it.

"Let's stop for a moment, I'll give it a try too."

"Okay, I found gold ore. Remember to put it in your backpack later."

Jiang Hao took a sip of the healing potion, raised his staff, and swung it down at a wandering spirit not far away.

The Gold-Eating Wanderer suddenly vanished from its spot, reappearing beneath Jiang Hao's staff. This was the first time Jiang Hao had ever seen a Gold-Eating Wanderer. It appeared round and smooth, its body transparent like a jellyfish, with a faint glow emanating from its center. Even more strangely, its body was constantly changing shape with the surrounding air.

-

White damage numbers floated up from the Gold-Eating Wanderer's body, and Jiang Hao saw its health bar be completely emptied. Its already transparent body dissipated, like a bubble bursting in water and disappearing without a trace.

With two soft thuds, the sound of a stone hitting the ground echoed beneath Jiang Hao's feet. Looking down, he saw a golden stone, about the size of a quail egg, lying on the ground of the platform.

Is it going to be a gold rush?

"I knew it! I knew your talent for pulling mobs would definitely come in handy here. And it really is invincible!"

"Quickly pick it up and put it in your backpack, then move on to the next one."

Tens of thousands of sows stood beside Jiang Hao, speaking with considerable pride. Jiang Hao bent down, picked up the golden stone, and weighed it in his hand.

"How many gold coins can this one ore be exchanged for?"

"About half. How about it? Want to take another look?"

Just by waving your hand, you can get half a gold coin?

Wow!

Jiang Hao immediately became interested.

"Let's go, let's go, let's go quickly."

Tens of thousands of sows gripped the handrails on the flagpole, once again propelling the platform downwards. As the platform descended, Jiang Hao saw countless points of light appearing below, some large, some small, almost all of them gold-eating spirits. However, these spirits were incredibly fast, making it virtually impossible for the platform to catch them at its current speed.

However, Jiang Hao could still see a dozen flags floating silently in the air in the distance. Each time a gold-eating spirit passed by, the flag would tremble slightly. Presumably, the people above were lying in wait with nets.

"This is the Silver level. Should we continue downwards?"

Jiang Hao looked around and noticed that the Gold-Eating Wanderers around him were larger and brighter than those above. However, those below were clearly more attractive.

"Let's continue downwards. How is this Silver rank determined? Is it based on the wandering spirits' health and attack power? Or their size, or movement speed? Why can't I use detection spells on them?"

"These wandering spirits don't attack, and their health isn't high. The reason they're called Silver-level is mainly because their movement speed is at or above that of ordinary Silver-level monsters."

"Without the strength to defeat a silver-level monster, capturing the wandering souls here won't be easy!"

"Since their health isn't high, what if it were an archer? They could just stand on the platform and fire wildly; they should be able to hit a few, right?"

Tens of thousands of sows shook their heads.

"Let's put aside the question of whether we can hit the target. Even if we're lucky and hit it, what are we going to do with the gold ore that explodes? It'll just fall straight down there."

Tens of thousands of sows pointed to the bottomless black hole below the platform.

"Does this mean that all professionals can only use that fishing net to catch and devour the Golden Wanderers one by one? That method is far too ancient!"

"There's nothing we can do about it. And do you think these fishing nets are ordinary?"

"This is the latest product developed by the Black Dragon Empire, the wealthiest empire in the Spirit Ruins World, to deal with the Gold-Eating Wanderers. I heard that the research and development alone cost 20 million gold coins!"

"Is the toilet really that powerful? What's the use of it?"

"This net has the function of attracting Gold-Eating Souls, and once they enter within half a meter of the net, they can no longer escape. However, this net is only effective against Gold-Eating Souls below the Bronze level."

"As for high-level Gold-Eating Wanderers, there are currently no particularly effective tools."

As the two talked, the platform sank lower and lower, and the gold-eating wraiths around them grew considerably larger, but their movement speed increased even more. If the speed of an Iron-level being was merely like floating in water, then the speed of these wraiths was almost comparable to riding an electric scooter.

Jiang Hao raised his staff, then casually swung it down, pulling a Gold-Eating Wanderer over.

"Let me tell you, without Gold-level strength, you can't capture anyone here..."

The tens of thousands of sows were being controlled to descend the platform when, just as they finished speaking, a loud crash was heard as a large stone fell to the ground. Turning their heads, they saw a golden stone, about the size of a duck egg, lying quietly on the platform's ground.

Swallowing hard, the tens of thousands of sows offered their silent defense.

"Of course, you're an exception, because you're abnormally strong!"

"I'm continuing my descent. Let me know if you need to stop. Remember to put any gold ore you find into your backpack!"

After the tens of thousands of sows finished giving their instructions, they focused all their energy on maneuvering the platform downwards. Jiang Hao waved his staff continuously, each wave pulling a Gold-Eating Wanderer onto the platform, which would then explode into a rock the size of an egg. As the platform descended, one Gold-Eating Wanderer after another was pulled over by Jiang Hao, and chunks of golden ore clattered onto the platform. Jiang Hao, caught up in the moment, didn't bother picking up the exploding gold ore. Fortunately, the platform was surrounded by a waist-high fence, so there was no worry about the rocks slipping.

Tens of thousands of sows took a moment to glance at Jiang Hao waving his staff.

I have to say, a man who's serious is really handsome!

Even Jiang Hao's minor habit of not picking up stones was forgiven. He continued to concentrate on maneuvering the platform downwards when suddenly, with a loud crash, a large rock landed on the platform, causing it to tremble. The thousands of sows immediately turned their heads to look, only to see a golden rock the size of a basketball lying on the ground in front of Jiang Hao. Compared to the other stones, this one was simply a behemoth!

"Holy crap, what's going on?"

Jiang Hao pointed downwards, then waved his staff, pulling over a gold-eating spirit the size of a washing machine that was swimming rapidly in the distance.

-

A white damage indicator floated up from its body, instantly emptying its health bar. Then, with a pop, like a bubble bursting, its body vanished into the void. Another golden stone, the size of a basketball, crashed onto the platform, causing it to tremble once more.

This time, the entire process was clearly witnessed by tens of thousands of sows.

"Holy crap, this is diamond-grade! This stone is worth at least 50 gold coins!"

"How many?"

Jiang Hao was completely dumbfounded.

"50 gold coins, minimum 50 gold coins!"

Tens of thousands of sows, breathing heavily, maneuvered the platform to stand steadily, then leaped over, picked up the basketball-sized golden stones, and put them into their backpacks.

"Don't stop, boss! Please continue. I'll help you pick up the stones!"

"Hey? Why did you stop diving?"

"It can't go down any further!"
