Chapter 242 The Bizarre Big-Headed Maggots

"Crack, crack..."

The sound of maggots gnawing on the Lingyang Tree came from Jiang Hao's left front. Jiang Hao looked over and saw another maggot gnawing on the trunk of a giant Lingyang Tree that was leaning on the ice.

The maggot was quite close, and because of the angle, Jiang Hao could see a peculiar beige pattern on the front of its head.

Although this giant maggot looked cute, Jiang Hao couldn't bring himself to like it. Its mouth could easily gnaw through the hard spirit yang wood! If it crawled onto him, not only would it devour his flesh, but it could probably even eat his bones in a matter of moments.

This giant maggot didn't seem to be in a hurry. It ate rather slowly, unlike the previous one that wolfed it down. It seemed to be savoring a sweet pastry. It would take a bite of the bark of the Lingyang tree, shake its head a few times, and then take another bite.

But the tree branches on the opposite bank clearly didn't give it much time. A dozen thick, white tree branches lashed out, striking the giant maggot with a sharp crack. As the branches of the Lingyang Giant Tree lashed off the ice, Jiang Hao sighed, thinking, "I'm doomed!"

He had barely finished sighing when Jiang Hao abruptly pulled his breath back, for he clearly saw the giant maggot on the whipped Spirit Sun Tree shake its head and then bite down on it again. It was as if the previous violent whipping hadn't even hit it.

Immediately afterwards, more than a dozen branches and tentacles lashed at it in succession, causing the enormous Lingyang tree to fly back and forth in the air. For a moment, the ice surface was in complete chaos. Hundreds more branches and tentacles stretched out from the opposite bank of the river to join in the lashing of the giant maggot, but the giant maggot was not affected at all and continued to savor the Lingyang wood.

Jiang Hao was completely dumbfounded!

Because he had seen it more than once: when the tree branch tentacles lashed at the giant maggots, the maggots' bodies didn't deform at all! The tree branch tentacles seemed to pierce through the air, passing through the giant maggots' bodies and then lashing hard at the Spirit Sun Giant Tree!

It's as if the giant maggot is just a projection of another world into this one, completely immune to physical attacks!

The poor giant tree of Lingyang, being devoured by the giant maggots, was whipped around on the ice by hundreds of branches and tentacles, but it never landed.

Jiang Hao had now confirmed that everything he had heard and seen before was the work of this one guy. If there had been two guys like him, this place would have been turned upside down long ago.

In no time, the giant maggot began to tremble, and then, from head to tail, it unraveled, and a small, white, soft, rice-grain-sized object fell from under its tail. Just then, a branch-like tentacle lashed out again, sending the giant Lingyang tree flying. And the giant maggot's excrement flew straight towards Jiang Hao.

Jiang Hao dared not let that thing land on him. He pushed off slightly with his feet and dodged to the side. The poop brushed against Jiang Hao's body and landed on the fallen leaves behind him.

Jiang Hao looked at the giant maggot again. It was swollen all over, its large head raised, staring intently at the tentacle of the branch that had knocked its droppings away. The giant maggot began to tremble slightly, then a thin, white shield, like Zhu Lin's magical shield, enveloped its entire body. Without any visible movement, its body vanished.

Suddenly, a branch tentacle several meters long fell from the sky. Jiang Hao looked closely and saw that the branch tentacle that had been used to whip the giant maggot was now broken off. The giant maggot, without any apparent effort or movement, moved as if by teleportation, leaving no afterimage, flashing back and forth among the hundreds of branch tentacles, gnawing off pieces of them.

In an instant, hundreds of tree branches fell like rain.

Jiang Hao's eyes narrowed. Such speed! Even with his tens of millions of agility, he could never reach this speed.

He heard the rustling of falling leaves behind him. Turning his head, Jiang Hao discovered that the big-headed maggot had appeared behind him at some point, lying next to the poop and continuing to poop.

Small, white, soft things emerged from under its tail, and then Jiang Hao saw a scene that disgusted him.

The giant maggot actually moved its seven or eight droppings together, then pressed its entire head onto them, rolling back and forth as if kneading dough. After a moment, a large oval-shaped dropping, about the size of a marble, had taken shape.

Jiang Hao felt that the poop looked familiar, so he casually took out a gold-grade energy crystal from his backpack. After comparing the two, Jiang Hao was completely dumbfounded!

The maggot's poop was exactly the same as the energy crystal in my hand, both in shape and color!

Jiang Hao swallowed hard, feeling utterly horrified.

The moment Jiang Hao took out the gold-grade energy crystal, the big-headed maggot immediately raised its head and stared intently at Jiang Hao.

Jiang Hao immediately tensed up, his right hand still holding the staff high, while his left hand, which was covered in crystal fragments, dared not move. He dared not retract his hand, nor dared he clench it.

Jiang Hao wanted to launch the first attack. If the Big-Headed Maggot made the first move, he would probably lose his life before he even had time to react.

But the speed of this bizarre, giant-headed maggot was far too alarming for Jiang Hao. It was highly likely that the moment his staff touched the ground, before the trigger conditions for his talent were met, the maggot would have already flown over and devoured his head!

Taking action now is absolutely the worst possible time!

Fortunately, the big-headed maggot was only interested in the energy crystal fragments in Jiang Hao's hand. After a brief but long standoff, the big-headed maggot ignored Jiang Hao and turned its big head slightly to look at Jiang Hao's left hand.

The fragment of the gold-grade energy crystal in Jiang Hao's left hand suddenly flew up from his left palm and then flew with afterimages to the front of the big-headed maggot.

The giant maggot looked left and right with its large head, then, with a hint of disgust, it used its tail to propel its entire round body into the air. Without any apparent effort, its body, like a baseball bat, slammed its large head into the energy crystal fragment. The gold-grade energy crystal fragment, leaving afterimages, fell into the distant dense forest.

Jiang Hao didn't dare to move at all throughout the entire process, because he simply couldn't find any opportunity to make a move.

The branches with severed tentacles had long since retreated to the north bank, and the entire forest was quiet.

After the giant maggot landed, the magical shield-like substance on its body disappeared. It curled its large ball of feces with its tail and vanished.

Then Jiang Hao saw that on the ice of the glacier, tree branches and tentacles, like baseballs, were being driven into the woods on the opposite bank by the giant maggot.

Once there were no more branches touching the ice, the forest returned to silence.

"Crack, crack..."

The sound of the giant maggot gnawing on the Lingyang tree came again from Jiang Hao's right front, this time choosing a new Lingyang tree. On the opposite bank, not a single branch or tentacle dared to extend.

Jiang Hao knew that this might be his only chance to make a move.

Without hesitation, Jiang Hao moved his body quickly and brought his staff down towards the big-headed maggot!
