A familiar scene

A familiar scene

Blackness suddenly filled the space around Tao Luobai. He felt as if he was being hugged. A very faint fragrance floated in the air, which he thought was the scent of wood.

A strange emotion flashed through Tao Luobai's mind, but Tao Luobai did not pursue what it was. Instead, he raised his head in Meng Yisheng's arms and said, "Thank you."

After saying this, he was about to withdraw from Meng Yisheng's arms.

During this time, the noises in my ears became increasingly noisy.

"What's wrong with you, young man? Didn't you see such a big kid being hit here?"

Tao Luobai frowned and turned around to look.

A woman in a pink dress was bossing him around, while his child fell to the ground, crying miserably.

There were liquid stains on the edge of the clothes left by something unknown. Tao Luobai glanced over and found a popsicle that had just been opened lying at the child's feet.

The child was so sad, but the woman didn't even show any intention of helping him.

Tao Luobai looked at her with sincere eyes and a sincere tone, "I didn't push him. I don't know why he fell. Please take him to the hospital first."

"You're crying so hard, you must be injured somewhere. Otherwise, if you delay treatment and don't have the money to pay for it, it will be very sad."

Tao Luobai had no intention of mocking her, but seeing this woman wrongly accusing him without any basis in reason, he subconsciously felt unhappy, and this was reflected in his words as an implicit sarcasm.

"You!" The woman seemed to have not expected that Tao Luobai, the seemingly easy-to-buy handsome college student, would be so sharp-tongued. When her attack failed, she started to throw a tantrum.

"Someone come quickly! This student from nowhere bumped into my child and he refuses to admit it!"

"My child said with his own mouth that he was hit by this guy, but he flatly denied it. He's truly shameless and unbeatable. I originally just wanted him to apologize to my child, but my child is crying so hard, maybe he's hurt somewhere..."

"Look at this student's shameless behavior. He might not even compensate me for my medical expenses. I finally got my salary and happily brought my children here to play, but I didn't expect to encounter such a disaster."

"This student who hurt someone is so unreasonable! Everyone come over here and take a look, and give me your opinion!"

Tao Luobai wasn't good at dealing with these scoundrels. Seeing more and more people gathering around him, Tao Luobai explained, "I really didn't hit him. Instead, I was the one who got hit. If my friend hadn't held me up, I would have fallen to the ground like him."

As Tao Luobai spoke, he glanced at Meng Yisheng.

At this glance, Tao Luobai saw that when Meng Yisheng was accused by a woman, he did not choose to watch the fun and the woman like others, but looked at him with eyes full of worry.

Meng Yisheng saw Tao Luobai looking at him, opened his mouth and seemed to want to say something, but stopped abruptly when he felt Tao Luobai withdraw from his arms.

Tao Luobai seemed to be scalded. He gently pushed him away and left Meng Yisheng's arms. He turned around and explained again: "I really didn't hit him. My family is not under financial pressure. If it was really my fault, I would definitely compensate. But if it is not my fault, I will not be the one who is taken advantage of."

"No one's money comes from the wind," said Tao Luobai.

Tao Luobai was a handsome man, and his attitude when he said this was extremely sincere, and his words were plain and simple. Compared to the woman's excitement, he seemed a little calmer and more believable.

Soon, some of the people around began to side with Tao Luobai.

"Sister, the little brother is speaking so sincerely, you might have misunderstood him. Even though the child said he bumped into someone, there's still a possibility he's lying."

"Why don't you help the child up and stop him from crying? If he keeps crying like this, there's no way to explain it even if there's a misunderstanding."

When the woman heard this, it was as if something had opened up: "No misunderstanding!"

Her voice was so high-pitched that it broke.

She still didn't help her son up, but looked at Tao Luobai as if he was an unforgivable sinner, "I know my son, he would never lie..."

"This jerk must be someone who doesn't want to pay the compensation. He saw my son fall and couldn't stand up, so he tried his best to distance himself from the matter..."

"I believe in my son, so I'm putting it here, you have to compensate me, otherwise, you won't be able to leave today!" The woman's voice was very loud, and it seemed that she would not stop until she called everyone within a ten-mile radius over.

Tao Luobai, "Are you blackmailing me?" He looked at the woman. He didn't expect that the first time he was blackmailed was in the aquarium, on the day when he was looking forward to going out to play.

"Mom, this brother is so fierce. I won't say anything anymore. I dare not say anything. Mom, can we not ask for his compensation? I feel like he is going to hit me in the next second." The child finally spoke.

"Wow, mom, let's go. We don't want any compensation." The child wanted to pull his mother away, but to no avail.

The woman was nailed to the spot like a piece of iron, and there was a sound of chiseling iron in the pit.

"How can we not ask for compensation? He hurt you, so he must be responsible - everyone, please help me, stop him quickly, don't let this man run away!" The woman said, and began to direct the onlookers.

Tao Luobai had only one word to describe this: pretentious.

The onlookers had already surrounded them so tightly that there was no escape. If he wanted to run, he had to find a way out first.

The child and the woman launched a magic sound attack together. Even though Tao Luobai didn't look like someone who would do that kind of thing, and there was no trace of low quality in his words, the balance still quietly tilted towards the woman and the child.

"Was the child really hit by him? Otherwise, why would his mother keep grabbing him?"

"This guy looks like a student, right? I wonder which school he's from. If he doesn't pay compensation, is he just waiting for the school to be embarrassed for him?"

"It's already difficult for a woman to come out with a child, and this sister has encountered such a terrible thing. If it were me, I would probably just swallow my anger."

"This student is still trying to get away with it. She's wrong. Let's all help this sister and make her pay!"

Seeing these people almost sticking their fingers in his nose, Tao Luobai started to fight back, "He should pay compensation. But he should pay me."

Tao Luobai knew that he couldn't just reason with them. His tolerance was met with constant bullying. He should have turned around and left at the very beginning when this woman showed signs of blackmailing him.

Otherwise, it wouldn't have delayed my friends' time to play.

"Let's all watch the surveillance video. If I hit him, I will never make any money in my life. But if he hit me and then deliberately fell down to blackmail me, then, see you at the police station!" Tao Luobai said this very firmly, but only he knew that he was so nervous that his palms began to sweat.

This was the first time he encountered such a situation, and he didn't know whether his statement about watching the surveillance video would have the effect of deterring the other party.

But he underestimated the shamelessness of women and overestimated the safety of the equipment and facilities here.

"You're just taking advantage of the fact that the surveillance cameras are broken today so you can act so recklessly. Poor my child, his life is so miserable—"

It's over. Tao Luobai looked towards the glass on the side, and sure enough, there was a sign saying "Surveillance is broken" in large letters.

He had planned everything, but he didn't expect that the surveillance here would suddenly break down.

This time public opinion will turn on his side.

As expected, there were soon sounds of tsk tsk tsk from the crowd, and Tao Luobai didn't want to listen anymore after hearing a few of them.

This is so annoying. I might as well just play games in my dorm.

Tao Luobai thought about it, took a few deep breaths, and calmed himself down.

If it really doesn't work, just go to the police station. The person on the other side probably won't get away with it either. Without evidence, it's impossible to prove the false accusation against him.

However, when Tao Luobai thought of the purpose of coming here today, his mind became a little confused. He couldn't bear to let his new friend suffer with him for the whole day because of his bad luck. What should he do?

Tao Luobai looked at Meng Yisheng, who had been standing beside him in a depressed mood ever since he pushed him. He glanced at him and motioned him to go find Meng Guiyue and let him handle the matter himself.

Just with this one glance, Tao Luobai didn't know what his eyes revealed. When Meng Yisheng saw his actions, his first reaction was not to leave here to find Meng Guiyue, nor to confirm his meaning again and again, but to walk straight towards him.

His eyes were firm, as if he had received some permission.

But Tao Luobai was panicking at the moment and couldn't tell what was in his eyes. Or rather, even if it wasn't the current situation, he couldn't tell what was in Meng Yisheng's eyes.

Because he didn't understand Meng Yisheng at all.

He was not sure whether Meng Yisheng, who had been watching him for so long, believed in him or disliked him because of a misunderstanding.

At that time, someone happened to be scolding Tao Luobai, "If he hadn't really done that, why would his friends stay so far away from him? He must have behaved so badly that his friends don't want to trust him anymore."

The moment he heard this, Tao Luobai's heart went cold.

As the saying goes, those involved are often confused, while those who are on the sidelines can see things more clearly. They all saw things, but they still had expectations.

Tao Luobai thought he wouldn't mind these words at this moment, but he still couldn't control himself.

He felt so bad. Meng Yisheng and he had only known each other for two days, but he wished that this person, whom he wasn't sure if he could really be considered a friend, could be standing in front of him right now.

Meng Yisheng walked up to Tao Luobai and did not choose to talk to him. Instead, he turned on his mobile phone.

Tao Luobai's heart sank again. Meng Yisheng didn't talk to him at first. He must have thought that he was that kind of person and wanted to send a message to Meng Guiyue to cut ties with him.

For a moment, indescribable bitterness filled his chest.

Tao Luobai didn't even dare to take a sneak peek at the content on Meng Yisheng's phone. He just let himself stare straight ahead. For a moment, the people around him seemed to gradually become blurred in front of him.

Only the hurtful words became clearer and clearer.

"Young man, don't be fooled by this guy. You are so handsome, but you still can't judge people well."

"The guy next to you hit someone and he's not admitting it. You don't need to associate with him anymore."

"Young man, be careful."

Suddenly, Meng Yisheng's words reached his ears.

"I believe him."

The world suddenly became clear.

Tao Luobai turned his head and looked at the boy who was half a head taller than him.
