Chapter 6 Kan Zherui’s Childhood Thoughts (……

"Huaihuai, get up and go to school."

Chen Huai covered his head with the quilt and tried to escape from reality.

But his aunt was unforgiving: "Hurry up and get up, you're almost late."

Chen Huai continued to close his eyes: "Aunt, my head hurts a little, I feel a little sick."

Shen Qing touched his forehead and found no heat. It was obvious that he was feigning illness. She had originally thought that since the child was young and didn't like going to school, it was okay to give him a day off.

But then a thought came to her mind, and she turned serious: "Why do you suddenly not want to go to school? Are you being bullied?"

After all, Chen Huai had never resisted going to school before.

"No, I just feel very tired."

He was doing well in kindergarten, but then a troublesome kid whose expression was hard to read came over, leaving him physically and mentally exhausted.

My butt was slapped. "Then hurry up and go to school. Don't skip school."

*

Chen Huai didn't know what was going on.

Before, he and Kan Zherui had nothing in common.

Besides, he didn't see how enthusiastic Kan Zhe Rui was towards him when he first transferred here.

The other party had suddenly taken the initiative to befriend him these past few days. Kan Zherui always dragged him into a team for homework or something.

Chen Huai suspected that Kan Zherui had bad intentions, but he found no substantial evidence.

Yesterday, the teacher even moved their seats together. It was like the sky was falling. Thinking about having to endure Kan Zherui's chatterbox every day in the future, Chen Huai felt that he didn't want to go to school for a single day.

Unfortunately, Ms. Shen didn't understand Shen Huai's reluctance and sent him to school on time at 8:30.

The teacher who was waiting for him at the school gate took Chen Huai's wheelchair.

When he was sent to his seat, Chen Huai discovered that his deskmate Kan Zherui was surprisingly not "chattering" beside him today, but was reading a square comic book.

The familiar binding immediately caught Chen Huai's attention, and he blurted out subconsciously: "The Lion and the Lamb?"

Kan Zherui was fascinated by the book, although he couldn't understand some of the words on it.

He didn't notice that this was the first time Chen Huai spoke to him, and replied without moving his eyes: "Yes, it's very beautiful."

Kan Zherui stared intently and pulled out another book from his bag with one hand: "Do you want to read it?"

Although he didn't want to accept his kindness, the temptation was too great, and Chen Huai couldn't help but take it.

Chen Huai was a little confused. The book would only be released in a few days, so why did Kan Zherui have it now?

After turning a few pages, I found a familiar plot.

I accidentally discovered a signature with a pen mark and ink stains on the first page of the book.

Signed in person?

As a book fan, Shen Huai's heart began to pound.

Then I suddenly remembered that the author’s book signing event would be held in a few days, and it was impossible for Kan Zherui to attend it now.

Is it fake? A pirated copy?

He asked, “Where did you get this book?”

Did you get it in advance by asking someone for help?

"I have a lot at home," Kan Zherui said truthfully.

"Do you want it? If you like this book, I can give it to you."

So many of the same books...

It’s indeed a pirated version.

He didn't want a pirated book.

Chen Huai thought about it. But he also felt that if Kan Zherui knew that he had bought a pirated book, he would probably be unhappy.

It would be better for him not to tell him out of kindness.

As if he had found a like-minded friend, Chen Huai treated Kan Zherui with a little more kindness. So much so that at noon, Kan Zherui offered to pour him some food, and Chen Huai accepted.

"You have a lot of leftover rice. Do you want to eat some more?" asked Kan Zherui.

"No, I don't eat carrots, I don't eat lamb, I don't eat tomatoes, I can't eat any of these vegetables."

"You don't even eat tomatoes. You're such a picky eater."

Chen Huai felt that it might be because he was too easy to be nice to Kan Zherui, which made him so tactless and even blame him.

He remained silent and continued to be cold.

"Okay." said Kan Zherui.

He took out several food bags from his small schoolbag and put different kinds of food in them.

"What are you doing?" Chen Huai couldn't help but ask.

"Separate the meals."

"Why do we need to separate them? Can't we just pour them out?" Chen Huai didn't quite understand his thinking.

"Sister Qingxu said that some people have a hard life. Some are very poor and will eat a lot of leftovers from restaurants. This way, they can eat more cleanly. We are in a position where 'why not eat meat porridge?' Our parents have provided us with a good living condition, so..." Kan Zherui scratched his head. "There are so many words, I forgot what was said after that."

"You're quite good at reciting it then." Chen Huai was silent: "It's quite complicated, and do you understand the words in what I just said?"

"Half and half."

Kan Zherui added: "But just follow it. I think what Sister Qingxu said makes a lot of sense."

Fool.

Chen Huai thought of this and turned his eyes away, no longer looking at him.

After school.

Kan Zherui was a little disappointed, as his uncle came to pick him up today.

However, Kan Zherui was in a good mood today. He held Kan Zhao's hand and followed him, jumping and skipping.

After climbing into the car panting, Kan Zherui was surprised to find that there was another person sitting in the passenger seat.

"Sister Qingxu!"

Lin Qingxu put down the tablet and paintbrush, reached out and pinched Kan Zherui's cheek: "Ruirui is back from school."

"What did you learn in kindergarten today?"

"Addition and subtraction within ten," Kan Zherui said proudly, "I calculated faster than the other kids, and the teacher even gave me a big Little Tiger badge as a reward."

"My deskmate didn't know how to answer many questions, but I taught her everything."

"Wow, that's amazing." Lin Qingxu praised him.

Kan Zherui pursed his lips and smiled embarrassedly.

Kan Zhao glanced at the rearview mirror and scoffed, "He's almost become an embryo."

Kan Zherui glared back angrily.

"There's caramel pudding in the mini-fridge, a reward for the smart and kind Ruirui."

Kan Zherui's mood changed from negative to positive, and he opened the silver-gray shell as usual, and the big "SELA" logo appeared on the paper.

He scooped a big mouthful of pudding with a spoon and handed it to Lin Qingxu first.

"Thank you, Rarity."

Kan Zherui smiled at her with a red face.

He also dug a big mouthful for Kan Zhao without holding any grudges.

After all, his uncle used to buy him pudding every day.

Finally, he placed the less than half remaining pudding on the small table in front of him and took small bites of it.

At the same time, Shen Qing also picked up his nephew, sat in the back seat, and handed a bottle of milk to Shen Huai.

She was a career-oriented woman. She was demanding of others and even more so of herself. With a capable older brother, she didn't want to rely too much on family influence. After graduation, she left Beijing and moved to Nanchuan to pursue her career. Her younger brothers and sisters-in-law were also career-oriented, especially her third brother and his wife.

A few days ago, Chen Huai was in a car accident and broke his leg, and she was the one who took care of him. The two parents were both abroad and didn't come back until the next day.

Seeing Chen Huai's face devoid of emotion, with no trace of the smile that a five-year-old child should have, he scolded them in anger.

I guess even if this couple of parents were taught a lesson, they wouldn't be able to change their temper for a while.

So she simply took Chen Huai back home and took care of him herself. It was better than him being alone in the hospital without the two elderly people caring about him.

But after so many days, Chen Huai is still as calm as ever.

Sometimes she doubted herself and wondered if Chen Huai had made the right decision by leaving her parents at such a young age.

Chen Huai seems different today than usual.

It was like ice melting into water, although the face was still cold.

It seems to be just telepathy between aunt and nephew.

"Did Huaihuai encounter anything happy today?"

"No."

Chen Huai pursed his lips and said, "I met a troublesome ghost."

He clearly didn't want to answer those stupid questions, but there was an annoying guy who kept whispering the answers in the hope that he would get them right.
