Chapter 15 Stealing

Chapter 15 Stealing

"Zhao Zhao, where are you?" Guan Xiang rushed into the living room in a hurry.

Upon seeing Dan Anwen sitting on the sofa, I was visually shocked. The big boss was actually eating barbecue?

Is this still the aloof and arrogant head of the Dan family?

Dan Shu, who followed closely behind, also stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening as she stared at Dan Anwen in disbelief.

"Uncle..." Dan Shu stammered.

The man showed no sign of embarrassment, slowly putting down the skewer in his hand, his every move exuding elegance and nobility.

The man's gaze fell on the cards in Guan Xiang's hand, and he asked in a deep voice, "What's going on here?"

"Are we here to see Zhao Zhao? Uncle, have you seen her?" Dan Shu quietly walked to Guan Xiang's side and spoke slowly.

Before Dan Anwen could answer, Gu Zhaodi came out of the bathroom following the sound.

"Xiangxiang, Danshu, I'm here." The girl wiped the water droplets off the back of her hand and looked up at the two people opposite her.

The girl's gesture of raising her eyes stunned everyone present. Her lazy gaze held a subtle glimmer of light, and her long, curled eyelashes trembled slightly as she looked up.

The girl, seeing everyone staring at her blankly, was puzzled. She walked up to Guan Xiang and waved her hand.

Guan Xiang snapped back to reality, blinked, and glanced at the girl's eyes every now and then.

"What's wrong with you?" the girl asked softly, her rosy lips parting slightly.

"It's nothing, it's nothing. Oh, by the way, the fire on the barbecue grill went bad again, so I came to find you to take a look." Guan Xiang took her hand and walked outside.

Dan Shu followed them out, and before leaving, she looked back at her uncle who was leaning against the sofa, her expression thoughtful.

Dan Anwen didn't notice his niece's gaze before she left; his mind was now filled with the girl's eyes just now.

It was as if countless stars were reflected in her eyes, making one want to explore them and capture the beautiful world she saw.

Guan Xiang, who had walked away, pulled Gu Zhaodi along and asked, "Zhaozhao, did you take the barbecue from in front of Uncle Dan just now?"

The girl nodded her head and gave a soft "hmm".

Guan Xiang looked at the girl in surprise, "Zhao Zhao, you're really brave."

On the other side, Dan Shu frequently looked up at Gu Zhaodi, her dark brown pupils deepening slightly. It was so strange.

My uncle's behavior today was very unusual, so unusual that it's hard not to suspect something.

And the girl in front of him seems to know him very well, not like they just met today.

"Zhao Zhao, have you met my uncle before?" Dan Shu decided to ask.

The girl paused for a moment, then said, "When I first came to Nan'an City, Uncle Dan helped me."

She didn't go into specifics because she didn't think it was important.

After listening to Dan Shu's story, Dan Shu felt her thoughts grow stronger. When did her uncle become so helpful?

He glanced at Gu Zhaodi again, then looked away, deciding not to investigate further; he would find out sooner or later.

"Zhaozhao, let's exchange contact information," Danshu said, holding up his phone to ask the girl for her WeChat.

Gu Zhaodi finally remembered that she hadn't added Guan Xiang yet. After adding Dan Shu on WeChat, she went to find Guan Xiang to add her.

Yao Xin saw this and ended up adding everyone present on WeChat.

Yao Xin even created a group on the spot, aptly named the Barbecue Group.

The barbecue party lasted until after 7 p.m., when it got dark and everyone was ready to go home.

"Zhao Zhao, I'll take you home." It's so late, and Guan Xiang is worried about Zhao Zhao going home alone. It's safer for her to have her family's driver take her home.

Gu Zhaodi wanted to decline, as it wasn't very late and the school wasn't closed yet, and having Guan Xiang deliver the package would be a hassle for her.

"No need, I'll go back by myself." She knew that Guan Xiang's home and school were in opposite directions.

Guan Xiang frowned. "I'm worried."

Gu Zhaodi also insisted on her opinion, saying that they all lived in this villa area, and it would take too much time to send her there.

The two sides remained deadlocked.

Dan Si sighed, "You all stop arguing. I'll have the family driver take Zhao Zhao back."

At this moment, Dan Anwen came downstairs and said calmly, "I'll take her back. I need to go back to Jinshan anyway."

The crowd looked at him with surprise, but the man showed no sign of panic, as if he were talking about nothing serious.

Dan Shu glanced at her uncle and urged, "Yes, let your uncle deliver it; it's on his way."

Everyone found it strange, but no one objected. Gu Zhaodi was caught off guard, while the others felt it was the safest way.

Just like when she arrived, the girl got into the man's car in a daze.

"Kids, fasten your seatbelts." A deep, slightly hoarse voice rang out in the carriage.

The girl slowly raised her head and let out a soft "ah".

The man smiled and glanced at the girl. "Want me to help you tie it?"

Gu Zhaodi then came to her senses, immediately pulled over and fastened her seatbelt, sat up straight, and looked ahead, just like the first time she sat in this car.

As for the word "little kid," she's too lazy to correct it anymore; let them call her whatever they want.

The man looked away, started the car, and drove towards the school.

Looking out the car window at the flashing neon lights and the bustling streets, the girl felt calm and at ease.

After returning to her dormitory, the girl did some homework for a while and then went to bed. She dreamed about something, and a smile remained on her lips.

The nine-day holiday passed in the blink of an eye.

When Guan Xiang and Gu Zhaodi returned to their dormitory at noon, they saw Deng Xixue rummaging through drawers and cabinets.

"Can you be quiet for a second?" Guan Xiang's annoyed voice rang out, tinged with drowsiness.

Deng Xixue, who was under the bed, kept making noise, which grew louder and louder, keeping Guan Xiang awake.

Deng Xixue's tone was anxious and irritated, "What am I yelling about? My things are missing, can't I even look for them?"

Guan Xiang was completely awakened by her loud voice, and her temper flared up instantly. "What are you looking for? If you, Miss Deng, have the money, you can just buy it."

Deng Xixue flipped to the very last place but still couldn't find it. She simply put her hands on her hips and said loudly, "That was a gift from Ji Hao. How can it be the same?"

Guan Xiang pursed her lips, but before she could say anything, Deng Xixue turned her gaze to Li Mu and Gu Zhaodi.

The suspicious gazes swept over the two of them, making them feel very uncomfortable.

"Did one of you take my sunscreen? It was still here before National Day," a questioning voice rang out.

Deng Xixue felt that only these two poor people in the entire dormitory would take her things.

Gu Zhaodi frowned, while Li Mu's gaze darted away. Finally, as if he had thought of something, he composed himself.

"It wasn't me. I wasn't in the dorm at all during the National Day holiday." Li Mu glanced at Gu Zhaodi secretly.

Everyone knows that Gu Zhaodi was the only one living in the dormitory during the entire National Day holiday.

"What do you mean? Do you mean you can take it by surprise?" Guan Xiang asked angrily.

"I didn't mean that," Li Mu said, opening his mouth but denying it.

Deng Xixue cast a suspicious glance at the girl who was doing her homework. "Did you take it?"

Gu Zhaodi put down her pen and said slowly, "I didn't take it."

However, Deng Xixue already suspected her, and she couldn't be dismissed with just a few words.

“You’re the poorest in the whole dorm, who else would it be?” Deng Xixue’s voice was sharp and contemptuous.

As soon as these words were spoken, Guan Xiang couldn't stand it anymore and immediately retorted: "Deng Xixue, don't make baseless accusations without evidence. Why are you using your sunscreen in every move?"

"Who knows? She's poor." Deng Xixue stared intently at Gu Zhaodi, arms crossed, and said haughtily.

The girl's body trembled slightly, her back was tense, and her eyes were a little red.

He clenched his fist, then relaxed it, his fingertips turning white as blood returned slightly.

The girl's dark eyes stared straight at Deng Xixue without flinching, making Deng Xixue feel that she had misunderstood her.

A hoarse voice rang out, "I didn't take your things, whether you believe it or not."

When Deng Xixue saw her like this, she felt that she was guilty and that was all she could say.

"Then let me search."

Guan Xiang stomped out of bed, hiding the girl behind her. "Who do you think you are, letting me search you?"

"If you won't let me search, then something's fishy." Deng Xixue pressed aggressively.

"You..." Guan Xiang wanted to say something, but the girl behind her tugged at her clothes.

Gu Zhaodi shook her head at her, then turned to Deng Xixue, "Since you don't believe me, let's call the police. If you don't believe me, you have to apologize to me."

Deng Xixue agreed without hesitation. Apologizing was no big deal; the important thing was to find that bottle of sunscreen.

I had a fight with Ji Hao before National Day, and in a fit of pique, I left my sunscreen in my dorm room. I never expected it to be gone when I came back.

Now that she and Ji Hao have made up, of course she needs to find this bottle of sunscreen.
