Chapter 164 Professor Zhou's youngest son
After sleeping in for two wonderful days over the weekend, Gu Ji had her first class at 8 a.m. in college, which happened to be Professor Dan Mu's class.
Perhaps because freshmen are still full of expectations and curiosity about the school, everyone was in high spirits during the first class on Monday, and no one was sleeping at all.
As soon as Danmu entered the classroom, she saw Gu Ji sitting upright in the second row and nodded at her with a slight smile.
Gu Ji returned a faint smile to his mother.
Gu Ji wasn't the only one to see Dan's mother's smile; Song Jin, sitting next to her, also got a good look at it.
"My goodness, Professor Zhou looks so young. She must have been a great beauty when she was young," Song Jin exclaimed, resting her chin on her hand.
Gu Ji did not deny the statement. She had seen photos of Dan's mother when she was young, and the phrase "beauty lies in the bone, not the skin" perfectly described her.
Time never diminishes a beautiful woman with a graceful figure.
Moreover, Danmu takes good care of herself; even though she is nearing retirement age, she looks like she is in her forties.
Tian Ya joined the conversation, "I've heard that Professor Zhou is a master in literary pursuits, especially her beautiful handwriting."
Gu Ji agreed with this point, feeling that part of Uncle Dan's good handwriting was inherited, and that he vaguely possessed the style of a great calligrapher.
She didn't expect that their conversation would eventually turn to Dan Anwen.
"How did you know that Professor Zhou's youngest son is the president of the Dan Group?" Gu Ji looked at Tian Ya in surprise.
Tian Ya fiddled with her phone and said, "I learned all of this from word of mouth among the school's forum and upperclassmen."
"Professor Zhou's youngest son used to be a top student in the finance department of Nan'an University, and later went to Harvard University for graduate and doctoral studies."
Gu Ji blinked. How come she didn't know that there was such content on the Nan'an University forum?
Forum: Have you logged in to visit me?
Song Jin kept scrolling through the forum content, sighing repeatedly, "It's a pity there are no photos of Professor Zhou's son, and there aren't any on the Dan Group's official website either. Rumor has it that he's very handsome."
The two kept lamenting that they couldn't find any photos, while Gu Ji kept thanking herself that there were no photos, otherwise she would have been exposed.
Song Jin had met Uncle Dan before; the man's exquisitely handsome face was unforgettable.
She never imagined that so many years after he graduated, his story would still be told.
Just thinking about how she and Uncle Dan held hands at school makes her heart tremble violently.
"Why are your hands shaking, Zhao Zhao?" Ji Wanmiao's voice interrupted Gu Ji's thoughts.
Gu Ji smiled awkwardly, "It's nothing, I'm just a little cold from the air conditioning."
Ji Wanmiao looked curiously at the central air conditioning unit above her head and the bright sunshine outside.
Is it cold in temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius?
Under Ji Wanmiao's suspicious gaze, Gu Ji casually lowered her head and pretended to play on her phone, but fortunately the class bell rang in time to save her.
This class lasted all morning, and as soon as the teacher announced the end of get out of class, the students rushed out of the lecture hall.
Gu Ji and Song Jin, along with a few others, didn't want to squeeze out of the classroom with them, so they slowly packed their things.
"Zhao Zhao, would you like to have lunch with me?" Dan's mother walked up to Gu Ji with a smile on her face.
Gu Ji paused in closing his pen cap, feeling inexplicably guilty, especially as he felt the stares of his roommates around him.
The next second, Danmu smiled and said to Song Jin and the others, "You must be Zhao Zhao's roommates. I'm Zhao Zhao's grandma. Would you like to have lunch together?"
The word "grandmother" completely stunned Song Jin and the others, and they all stared wide-eyed at Gu Ji.
Then the three of them started making eye contact.
How could they not know that Professor Zhou is Zhao Zhao's grandmother?
This little girl didn't say a word just now; it turns out the professor on stage who was lecturing them was her grandmother.
Gu Ji pursed his lips, concealing the unreadable emotions in his eyes. "Grandma, please wait a moment. We haven't finished packing our books yet."
"Okay, then I'll wait for you in the corridor." Mother Dan smiled at Song Jin and the others.
After Dan's mother left the classroom, Song Jin immediately grabbed Gu Ji's arm, afraid that she would slip away. "Zhao Zhao, you're being too mean."
“Yes! Why don’t you say Professor Zhou is your grandmother?” Tian Ya also grabbed Gu Ji’s other arm.
This wasn't the first time they'd discussed Professor Zhou; they'd talked about him before, when the course schedule was released.
Fortunately, I didn't say anything I shouldn't have at the time.
Looking back now, Song Jin and the others still feel a bit scared.
Gu Ji smiled awkwardly. She knew that sooner or later they would find out about her relationship with Dan's mother, but she just hadn't figured out how to bring it up.
"I'll explain in detail after we finish eating." Gu Ji clasped his hands together, his watery eyes staring intently at Song Jin and the others.
Ji Wanmiao glanced at Danmu outside the classroom, "Then you have to tell the truth when you get back to the dormitory."
"Alright." Gu Ji breathed a sigh of relief.
Each of them had their own thoughts as they followed Dan's mother to the teachers' canteen for a meal. Little did anyone know how difficult it was for Gu Ji to swallow this meal.
She forgot to tell them not to let Dan's mother know about her relationship.
I'm afraid they might let something slip later.
Fortunately, everyone was quite shy around the teacher, and it was mostly Danmu who asked her roommates to take good care of her, without bringing up any other topics.
Even the most active Song Jin only talked about some interesting topics and didn't bring up the topic of boyfriends at all.
After finishing the meal, Gu Ji's tense body relaxed, and upon returning to the dormitory, he faced "torture and forced confession" from Song Jin and the others.
"Tell me, what's your relationship with Professor Zhou, you little brat?" Song Jin found a stick somewhere and circled around Gu Ji, looking quite like a gangster.
On their way back to the dormitory, the girls discussed it and found that Professor Zhou's son's surname was Dan, but his surname was Gu. There was a 50/50 chance that he was their granddaughter, since Zhao Zhao might take her mother's surname.
"She's my godmother, not my biological grandmother." Gu Ji calmly drank his tea after the alarm was lifted, completely unfazed by their threatening demeanor.
After asking about their relationships, the group turned to gossip.
Tian Ya simply squatted down next to Gu Ji and asked, "Is Professor Zhou's youngest son really that handsome?"
"Was it Professor Zhou's youngest son who delivered the milk tea last time?" Song Jin overheard the class monitor's words when she was next to Gu Ji.
Ji Wanmiao blinked her starry eyes, looking on with a puzzled expression.
Gu Ji cleared his throat and raised a thin eyebrow. "You really want to know?"
"Mmm-hmm-hmm."
Several people nodded in unison, looking at her expectantly.
"But I'm a little greedy." Gu Ji pretended to lick the corner of his mouth.
Song Jin immediately turned around, opened the potato chips on the table, and fed them to her mouth.
Gu Ji chewed on potato chips, crossed his arms, hissed, and twisted his neck, "My shoulders are a little sore too."
The girls got along well, and within just two weeks they had started teasing each other, acting like lackeys when they needed something from each other.
The term "dad" appears very frequently in the dormitory.
