Chapter 182 Uncle vs. Brother

Chapter 182 Uncle vs. Brother

Playing claw machines isn't exactly a man's forte; he tried several times but failed to win anything, while Gu Ji chuckled to himself.

Dan Anwen affectionately pinched the tip of her nose, his tone dangerous, "Laughing at me?"

"No, no." Gu Ji dared not admit it; wasn't that practically begging to be kissed?

Upon seeing this, Dan An lowered his hand, still looking at her with a dangerous gaze.

Gu Ji quickly changed the subject, "I'll give it a try."

Often, her confident attempts end in failure; she tossed in more than a dozen coins but didn't catch a single doll.

Gu Ji scratched her head in confusion, feeling it was very unreasonable. She remembered that when she went out with Guan Xiang before, she would get lucky once or twice out of ten times.

Little did she know that Guan Xiang had given the owner extra money to adjust the machine so that she could have a good time and not feel depressed after spending the money.

Dan Anwen raised an eyebrow, indicating that Gu Ji should give up his position so he could operate the machine.

This man seemed to have a cheat code activated, with an unusually high hit rate.

"Uncle Dan, how did you do that?" Gu Ji asked, looking at the baby in his arms with a bewildered expression.

As Dan Anwen operated the machine, he smiled and said, "I just watched the people over there playing it and learned a little trick."

Gu Ji followed the man's gaze and saw that the person he was talking about was indeed very skilled, having already grabbed a basketful of dolls, but his hit rate was still not as high as the man's!

Has he evolved on his own?

"Then your success rate is ridiculously high." In just a short while, she couldn't hold all the dolls in her arms anymore and had to put them in the basket.

"By visually estimating the distance and using mathematical formulas such as parabolas to calculate, you can basically succeed." The man's tone was indifferent, and his serious demeanor made it difficult for anyone to discern anything amiss.

Gu Ji's lips twitched slightly. She didn't understand the world of academic geniuses, but men were indeed very impressive.

Seeing the child's convinced expression, Dan Anwen lowered her eyes and suppressed a smile.

Finally, I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

This laugh left Gu Ji even more confused, not understanding what he was laughing at.

"Little girl, you're so naive. Luckily, I'm your boyfriend, otherwise you'd be scammed without even knowing it." Dan Anwen sighed and patted the back of the girl's head, looking worried.

Gu Ji stared at the man with her bright, watery eyes full of confusion. "Uncle Dan, what are you laughing at?"

Dan Anwen pointed at the machine and said, "I paid the boss to adjust the machine just now, so I was able to hit the target every time."

"You can do that?!" Gu Ji blinked. Sure enough, money talks.

Dan Anwen explained casually, "Generally, in order to make a profit, businesses will control the success rate of claw machines."

"So when Xiangxiang and I played claw machines together before, were the machines calibrated?" Gu Ji asked uncertainly.

"It's pretty close to the truth."

"But when did you go to the boss to adjust the machine? I had no idea." Gu Ji was a little confused. It seemed like the man had been by her side the whole time.

Dan Anwen chuckled and patted her head. "When you were so engrossed in playing the claw machine, all your attention was on the plush toy. You didn't even notice me."

Gu Ji felt instantly embarrassed. She hadn't really paid much attention to the man; she had been busy arguing with the doll.

After playing on this machine with cheat codes a few times, Gu Ji lost interest.

"What should we do with these dolls?" Gu Ji looked down at the two large baskets of dolls, somewhat troubled.

There are already so many dolls at home, and these are just too many to carry around easily.

Dan Anwen raised an eyebrow. "It can be given to children."

"Good idea." Gu Ji's eyes lit up, and after looking around, he noticed a few children not far away.

I carried a few plush toys over and handed them out. The kids probably have a network of information; they know there's a pretty lady distributing plush toys at the claw machine, and soon more kids came over wanting plush toys too.

"Pretty sister, do you still have dolls?" A little boy with an adorable face came running over, his big, round eyes melting hearts.

Gu Ji squatted down and handed the last doll in his hand to the little boy. "There's only one left. Do you want it?"

All the cute and pretty dolls had been picked by the children who arrived early, leaving only a bear that was slightly less attractive among the pile of dolls.

The little boy glanced at the doll, then picked it up and nodded, saying, "Sister, I'm not picky. This bear is cute too."

Seeing the little boy's adorable, bewildered expression, Gu Ji couldn't help but pat his head. "Where are your parents?"

The children who came to pick up their dolls were all accompanied by their parents, but this little boy was all alone.

"My mom is lost. She's naughty and doesn't stay close to me." The little boy stared with his big eyes, seemingly oblivious to the fact that there was nothing wrong with what he was saying.

Upon hearing this, Gu Ji almost fell to the ground, but fortunately Dan Anwen grabbed her arm, otherwise she would have been utterly humiliated in front of everyone.

Are all kids these days so outrageous?

"Um, did you get separated from your mother?" Gu Ji asked, changing his approach.

The little boy thought for a few seconds and then nodded.

“Uncle Dan, let’s take him to the broadcasting room and ask the staff to help him find his mother.” Gu Ji looked up at the man.

"Okay, you get up first." Dan Anwen pulled Gu Ji.

Only then did the little boy notice that there was a tall man standing next to Gu Ji.

"Uncle, are you here to ask for a doll too?" The little boy looked up at him with his innocent, big eyes.

The moment the word "uncle" was uttered, Dan Anwen's expression froze. The little girl was a sister, but he was an uncle? He looked very old.

Since he started dating his girlfriend, he has paid extra attention to skincare, fitness, and clothing, all so that he can look more compatible with her when they stand together.

Dan Anwen lowered his eyes and stared at the harmless little boy for a moment, then forced a smile to make himself appear gentler. "Little boy, you should call me brother."

Gu Ji, who had stood up, glanced at the stiff-faced man and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Dan Anwen looked at Gu Ji with a deep, hurt expression, making anyone who didn't know better think that Gu Ji had done something heinous.

The little boy didn't find the man's expression gentle and stuck to his own opinion: "But my mom says that when you see an older man, you should call him 'uncle,' it's polite."

Dan Anwen's stiff face darkened further; it was the first time he had ever seen a child so stubborn.

"If I get you a doll you like, will you call me brother?" Dan Anwen squatted down and asked the little boy, intending to make a deal with him.

The little boy agreed without hesitation, pointing to the little tiger in the claw machine and saying, "If I can catch the little tiger, I'll call you brother."

"A gentleman's word is as good as his bond." Dan Anwen glanced at the little tiger indifferently.

"A dead horse can't be caught," the little boy mumbled.

Gu Ji watched this scene with a smile, feeling that if she and Uncle Dan had children in the future, he would definitely be a good father.
