Chapter 216 Extra Chapter 1: The Topic of Children
"Second Grandma, you're here! Yangyang missed you so much!" A tiny, adorable little girl stumbled up to Gu Ji, hugged her leg, and looked up at her.
Gu Ji looked at the little boy hanging on her lap, her heart softened by the adorable expression on his face. "Second Grandma misses Yangyang too. Where is Mommy?"
As she spoke, she skillfully picked up the pale sunlight from the ground.
The little boy eagerly snuggled into Gu Ji's arms, his voice timid as he said, "Mommy's angry, Yangyang's scared."
"Did Yangyang make his mother angry?" Gu Ji saw through Dan Yang's little scheme at a glance. He was probably angry with Guan Xiang and had run out to meet her here, pretending to be pitiful.
Dan Yang blinked guiltily, her long eyelashes trembling slightly, and pouted, saying, "No, Yang Yang is a good baby."
"Lying isn't good for a child, you'll grow a long nose when you sleep at night," Gu Ji threatened Cuo Danyang, who was trying to escape.
"I accidentally broke Mommy's bracelet." Dan Yang tugged at Gu Ji's collar anxiously, her eyes filled with grievance.
Gu Ji smiled and said, "Has Yangyang admitted his mistake to his mother and asked her to forgive him?"
At this point, Dan Yang's guilt intensified. He was so focused on not wanting Guan Xiang to spank him that he ran to the living room and forgot to apologize. "Yang Yang forgot. Yang Yang will go now."
Dan Yang struggled in Gu Ji's arms, wanting her to put him down so he could apologize to Guan Xiang.
"It's alright, it's good that Yangyang has realized his mistake. Grandma will take you to find your mother." Gu Ji hugged Dan Yang's soft body tighter and walked upstairs with a smile.
Before she even reached the stairwell, she heard Guan Xiang's furious roar, "Dan Yang, you little rascal, where are you? You dare to do it but not admit it?"
Upon hearing Guan Xiang's roar, Dan Yang shrank into Gu Ji's arms, looking pitiful.
His pitiful appearance made Gu Ji's heart clench. Although he knew the mischievous boy was feigning helplessness to gain sympathy, he still couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
"Yangyang, don't be afraid, your second grandmother is here." Gu Ji stood still and patted Danyang on the back.
Guan Xiang stormed downstairs, and seeing this scene only fueled her anger. "Dan Yang, you've called for reinforcements? Let me tell you today, even if your great-grandmother comes, no one can save you."
Guan Xiang stood with her hands on her hips, looking like she was about to explode with anger.
"Xiangxiang, don't get so angry, Yangyang will be scared." Gu Ji looked helplessly at Guan Xiang, who was furious.
Seeing that Gu Ji was helping Dan Yang but not her, Guan Xiang also showed a wronged expression, "Zhao Zhao, you have to choose between this brat and me today. He's simply a little devil."
Scenes of jealousy and rivalry between the mother and son were all too common, so Gu Ji simply ignored the problem and left it to Dan Si to deal with later.
Gu Ji smiled helplessly, put Dan Yang on the ground, walked to Guan Xiang's side, took her hand and said, "Yang Yang has realized her mistake and wanted to apologize to you."
"Really?" Guan Xiang glanced awkwardly at the pale sunlight on the ground, like a child.
Under Gu Ji's subtle hint, Dan Yang understood immediately and ran over to Guan Xiang, pouting, "Mommy, Yang Yang knows he was wrong. Don't be angry. Yang Yang loves you."
After all, they were mother and son. Guan Xiang's composure only lasted a few seconds before she broke down. She squatted down and patted Dan Yang's head, "Do you still dare to smash Mom's bracelet?"
"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare." Dan Yang shook his head knowingly, tugging at Guan Xiang's clothes, clearly understanding the situation: the enemy was strong and he was weak.
Gu Ji squatted down, patted Dan Yang's round head, and said softly, "Yang Yang is a good child because he realizes his mistake. Be careful next time and don't break Mommy's bracelet."
"Second Grandma, Yangyang knows." Danyang blinked, using her coquettish skills very well.
Guan Xiang sighed, "Yangyang, go play, but don't run around."
"Then I'm off." After receiving the signal that he was free, Dan Yang immediately staggered over to the play area to play with toys.
Guan Xiang and Gu Ji watched Dan Yang's adorable little figure from behind, their smiles never fading.
"What brings you here?" Guan Xiang asked, pulling Gu Ji's hand as they sat down on the sofa.
Since Gu Ji graduated with a master's degree a year ago and started teaching at Nan'an Middle School, he has rarely had time to meet with Guan Xiang.
"The school is holding a sports meet these days, so I don't have anything to do. Uncle Dan went to work, so I thought I'd come and visit you, but judging from your expression, you don't seem to be in the mood." Gu Ji picked up his teacup and took a sip of tea.
As soon as you arrive at Guan Xiang's house, you can feel the chaos and disorder.
Guan Xiang glanced at Dan Yang, who was playing with a toy airplane on the carpet. "I have a headache right now. He's at that mischievous age. The other day he caught a bug and brought it home, which almost scared me to death."
"You haven't been performing lately?" Guan Xiang became a violinist after graduation and has gained some fame in the industry.
Guan Xiangsheng said dejectedly, "I want to go out and perform, but Yangyang has been very clingy to me lately, so it's inconvenient to take him. I'm just looking forward to him going to kindergarten. Fortunately, he'll be able to go to school in two months."
Danyang is two and a half years old this year. After her birthday, she can go to kindergarten.
"If I had a child like Yangyang, I would definitely play with him every day and never look down on him." Gu Ji looked at Guan Xiang's disgusted expression and silently mourned for him for a few seconds.
"He's a good kid?" Guan Xiang seemed to have heard something shocking. "He's always causing trouble at home, but he pretends to be good in front of you guys."
Gu Ji smiled but didn't say anything.
“But you’re already working, shouldn’t you and your uncle have a child?” Guan Xiang’s eyes lit up.
When she married Dan Si, she didn't consider having children so early. Yang Yang was an accident, so she gave birth to him.
I thought Zhao Zhao and Uncle Dan would catch up with their progress, but four years have passed and there has been no progress. I haven't even heard them mention this plan.
Gu Ji pursed her red lips slightly. When she was a graduate student, she and Dan Anwen discussed not having children during this period. Now she has been working for a year, and he has not brought up the topic again.
"I haven't actually discussed this topic with Uncle Dan." Gu Ji thought back for a moment. She and the man had been very happy with their life as a couple for the past few years and had never thought about having children.
However, Uncle Dan is already thirty-six years old this year, and it's time for him to become a father.
Seeing that Zhao Zhao looked confused, Guan Xiang knew that her uncle must not have discussed this topic with her. Generally, her uncle would not force her to do things she was not willing to do.
"Do you want to have a child?" Guan Xiang asked, blinking.
Gu Ji replied without hesitation, "Of course I want to, but I don't know if he wants to."
Because Dan Anwen had never revealed his desire to have children to her, she wasn't very clear about it.
“Your uncle must really like children; you saw how much he dotes on Yangyang,” Guan Xiang said with a smile. “If you had a girl, he would definitely like her even more.”
Now, the Dan family's hope of having a daughter rests entirely on Gu Ji. After Guan Xiang gave birth to Dan Yang, Dan Si went directly to the hospital to have his tubal ligation done, so the Dan family's hope of having a daughter for generations rests on Gu Ji.
Gu Ji thought about the man's attitude towards Dan Yang. He was indeed kind and approachable, often playing games with him and was very patient.
Even Dan Si would say that they were both juniors of Dan Anwen, so why were he and his son treated differently?
One person disdains it due to its strength, while the other dotes on it.
"Then I'll go home and ask him. If he's willing, I'll have one, so I won't be bored," Gu Ji said with a smile.
I was immersed in my studies for the past few years, but now that I'm working, I'm actually a bit bored. It would be good to have a child to play with.
Guan Xiang has a lot to say about playing with kids: "Kids can be a bit noisy, but they're also very cute. At this age, even dogs wouldn't want to mess with them. If you want to play with kids, you should do it early."
Guan Xiang and Gu Ji sat on the sofa discussing how cute and fun children are, while Dan Yang, who was playing with toys on the carpet, felt a chill creep into his heart.
