Chapter 31 Uncle Dan didn't do anything to you, did he?
The girl dawdled as she got up to wash and brush her teeth, then opened the door and peeked out cautiously.
The long corridor was deserted. The girl hurried out, wanting to escape from here first.
Just as I reached the sofa in the living room downstairs, I heard a deep male voice behind me, "Little one, you're awake. Come and have breakfast."
The girl's back stiffened noticeably, and she turned her head stiffly to see the man holding a glass of water, looking at her with a smile in his eyes and a slight upturn at the corners of his mouth.
Seeing the girl dawdling, the man wasn't in a hurry. He knew the girl was probably thinking about what happened last night.
Gu Zhaodi ultimately couldn't refuse the man's kindness and could only eat breakfast absentmindedly.
The dining table was filled with all sorts of breakfast items, and Gu Zhaodi suspected that he had brought the entire breakfast shop over.
"I didn't know what you liked to eat, so I bought a little bit of everything," the man said casually, as if it were a trivial matter.
The girl's eyes were a little sore; she felt that she hadn't shed all the tears she had last night.
"Thank you, Uncle Dan."
Hearing this, the man felt a little helpless, but he didn't say anything more. He simply picked up a soup dumpling and put it on the girl's plate.
After breakfast, the girl couldn't refuse the man's insistence on personally driving her home, so she got into his car.
Gu Zhaodi couldn't remember what she had done in the time between drinking and reaching the mountaintop while she was in the car.
She gripped her phone tightly, her gaze drifting to the man driving ahead, hesitating whether to ask him a question.
"What do you want to ask?" The girl's thoughts were written all over her face, making it hard for the man to ignore.
The girl hadn't expected the man to ask that question, and without thinking, she blurted out, "Uncle Dan, I didn't do anything while I was still drunk, did I?"
The man raised his handsome eyebrows slightly and said to the girl with a smile, "I didn't do anything, I just wanted to see the stars."
Hearing the man's words, the girl breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Thankfully, she hadn't done anything embarrassing.
The relieved girl missed the man's meaningful smile.
Dan Anwen recalled the girl flirting with him last night, but decided it was better not to mention it. The girl was easily embarrassed and shy; if he knew, she would definitely avoid him next time.
On the bus, Guan Xiang sent me a WeChat message.
Guan Xiang: Zhao Zhao, are you sober yet?
Gu Zhaodi: I'm awake. I'm in Uncle Dan's car now.
Guan Xiang: In Uncle Dan's car? He didn't take you back to school last night?
Guan Xiang, on the other end of the WeChat message, immediately put down her soy milk and hurried upstairs to her room.
Guan's parents looked at her with puzzled expressions as she headed upstairs. "Xiangxiang, aren't you going to eat breakfast?"
Guan Xiang waved her hand casually, while frantically tapping the screen with her other hand.
Inside the car, before Gu Zhaodi could reply, another message popped up on WeChat.
Guan Xiang: Uncle Dan didn't do anything to you, did he?
The girl's forehead was covered in black lines. What the heck is this? What could Uncle Dan possibly do to me? Did Guan Xiang misunderstand something?
As she thought about it, a faint blush rose on the girl's face. Dan Anwen, who was standing next to her, noticed it out of the corner of his eye. Was the temperature inside the car too high?
Gu Zhaodi: Don't overthink it. I was drunk last night and missed the school's closing time.
Guan Xiang felt a little relieved after seeing Zhao Zhao's explanation.
She thought Zhao Zhao had been taken advantage of by Uncle Dan...
I should probably read fewer novels in the future; they're too imaginative.
Guan Xiang: What's wrong with your drunken outburst?
Gu Zhaodi: Uh...
Gu Zhaodi: Can I not mention it? It's too embarrassing.
Guan Xiang: Well, it seems he's really drunk.
The girl in the passenger seat was embarrassed, and uncontrollably thought of the scene from last night again, which was simply unforgettable!
Fortunately, the awkward situation didn't last long before the car arrived at the school gate.
"Goodbye, Uncle Dan." Gu Zhaodi said goodbye to Dan Anwen as she opened the car door.
Dan Anwen stared intently at the girl with his deep eyes and said slowly, "Don't drink next time."
The blush that had just faded spread back to behind her ears, and the girl replied hesitantly, "I understand, Uncle Dan."
Only after watching the man's car disappear from sight did the girl breathe a sigh of relief. Uncle Dan really seemed like a caring elder.
Dan Anwen was about to go to work when he suddenly remembered that he had left a document at Danyuan.
So I made a U-turn at the next intersection and drove towards Danyuan.
As soon as Dan Anwen entered the villa, he saw Dan Si sitting on the sofa, looking tired, unpacking gifts.
"You got up so early?" The man's voice was slightly surprised; he had never seen Dan Si get up so early on a day off.
Dan Si's hands didn't stop unwrapping the gifts, his languidness tinged with sleepiness. "I haven't slept all night, but Guan Xiang, that little brat, insists that I unwrap the gifts now."
After saying that, he let out a big yawn.
Dan Anwen raised his handsome eyebrows, and was about to go upstairs to get the documents when he saw the red sports car model that Dan Si had just taken apart.
Upon seeing the gift, Dan Si's drowsiness vanished instantly, and his eyes widened like saucers. "I knew it! Why did Guan Xiang have to open this gift now?"
The bright red car body reminded Dan Si of the pranks his grandmother used to play on him when he was a child. His grandmother liked girls, but unfortunately she didn't have a daughter or granddaughter, so she dressed him in a bright red short skirt.
As a child, I was so ignorant that I went to show off to Guan Xiang, only to be ridiculed mercilessly, which has left me with a phobia of the color red.
Dan Anwen clearly knew about this matter as well. He smiled, glanced at the red sports car model with a cold look in his eyes, and then turned and walked to the study.
A nonchalant roar came from behind me, "This is making it impossible for me to sleep!"
At least for Dan Si, he would think about this all day.
After November, the next two months seemed to accelerate, passing by in the blink of an eye. The speed was so fast that Gu Zhaodi didn't even have time to react before the school announced the start of winter break.
For the past two months, she has continued her routine life as usual, working part-time at a laid-back dessert shop on her days off and studying at Dansijia on Fridays.
However, after she met Uncle Dan last time, she never saw him again at the dessert shop or Dan Garden, wondering if he was too busy with work.
Without thinking too much about it, she had two weeks left before returning to Lin'an City. She bought train tickets for the three days before the Lunar New Year and stayed at a dessert shop during that time.
Today is the last time I'll be checking in at Dansi's house to study and finish my final winter break assignments.
"Ding-dong, ding-dong." Gu Zhaodi, carrying her schoolbag, rang the doorbell of Danyuan.
Normally, there are servants guarding the gate, and they usually let you in directly when you arrive at the gate, but for some reason, there is no one here today.
After the girl rang the doorbell, she stood quietly and waited.
A short while later, a tall, imposing man could be seen walking toward them from afar.
A black coat enveloped his tall, slender frame, his long, straight, and powerful legs were impossible to ignore, and his well-defined hands held a mobile phone as he slowly walked towards the door.
As he approached step by step, the girl finally saw the man's face clearly; it was Uncle Dan.
Compared to the last time we met, she had lost some weight and looked somewhat tired, but her gentle gaze remained unchanged.
Dan Anwen looked at the girl in front of him with a smile. He had been in the living room when he heard someone ring the doorbell. He glanced at the control panel and saw that it was a little girl who had come out to open the door as if she were possessed.
The little girl's skin has become much fairer in the past two months. Compared to when we first met her, when she only had a pair of bright eyes, she has now transformed into a graceful young lady.
Her hands were tucked into her white down jacket, her chin was buried tightly in a warm scarf, revealing a pair of moist eyes, and her nose was red from the cold wind. It was a sight that could melt anyone's heart.
"Hello, Uncle Dan." The girl spoke softly, her voice unusually warm in the cold weather.
Dan Anwen opened the door and replied with a smile, "Little friend, are you here to see Dan Si?"
“Yes.” The girl nodded obediently and came in through the crack in the door the man had opened. “I’m here to check in with Dan Si and study.”
Dan Anwen's eyes were dark and deep. He looked down at the girl, his thin lips slightly pursed, and first led her into the living room of the villa.
