Chapter 42 The Child Closes His Eyes

Chapter 42 The Child Closes His Eyes

Outside the door, the man who had been knocking quietly left with the medicine in his hand. He had forgotten to tell the girl at noon that the hospital had prescribed her some traditional Chinese medicine for her to recuperate.

Actually, he stopped knocking on the door when the girl said she was breaking ties with her family. On the second day of the Lunar New Year, seeing the girl's disheveled appearance, he didn't dare to ask any questions. Only now does he know the reason for the injuries on her face.

"Aunt Zhang, bring her the medicine up in half an hour." Dan Anwen guessed that they should have finished chatting in half an hour.

"Okay, sir." Aunt Zhang looked at Dan Anwen, who was going upstairs again, feeling confused. The medicine had only been taken up a few minutes ago, why was it being taken down again?

For the next few days, Gu Zhaodi stayed at Jinshan Villa to recuperate. Dan Anwen was so concerned about her health that he almost had to bring her meals into her room.

The girl has been suffering a lot these past few days due to her period. She's been listless, has no appetite, and has lost a lot of weight. Aunt Zhang has been trying different kinds of food to nourish her.

There was also the Chinese medicine she had to drink every day, which was so painful for the girl that it was extremely bitter, and the faint taste of the medicine lingered in her mouth for a long time.

"Little girl, it's time to take your medicine." Dan Anwen carried a bowl of dark Chinese medicine into the study. The bitter smell instantly filled the room. The girl subconsciously held her breath, as if that would spare her the pain of the medicine.

The girl's gaze paused as she read, her expression stiffening slightly; it was another daily routine.

"Uncle Dan, look, I've been drinking Chinese medicine for so many days, do I not need to drink it anymore?" The girl looked at the man in front of her with tears in her eyes, hoping to hear the words "I don't need to drink it anymore" from his mouth.

The man parted his thin lips slightly and slowly uttered a few words, "You can't stop taking your medicine. You have to take it even when you go back to school."

After she finished speaking, the girl's hopeful face instantly fell, and she looked distressed, as if every cell in her body was screaming in resistance.

Perhaps because the girl was extremely vulnerable during her illness, she couldn't help but want to rely on someone. The gentle and refined man became her support, and she would uncontrollably throw little tantrums in front of him.

Looking at the bowl of medicine that was almost cold, Dan Anwen adopted a coaxing tone, "Little one, if you take your medicine obediently, I'll take you out to play this afternoon."

Upon hearing this, the girl, who had been staying in her room for the past few days and was almost moldy, instantly smiled, and her tone became more relaxed and cheerful, "I'll take the medicine right now."

Heaven knows she hasn't stepped out of the villa even once in the past few days, just because her husband was worried she'd catch a cold if she went out. Now that she's finally going to be free, anyone would be overjoyed.

Seeing the girl close her eyes tightly, scrunch up her fair face, and bury her head in her medicine, the man thoughtfully peeled open a piece of candy from the plate and handed it to her.

"Thank you, Uncle Dan." The girl, who had just put the candy in her mouth, thanked the man, the sweet taste making her brows and eyes relax a little.

In the afternoon, the girl, her petite body completely wrapped up by the man, finally left the house.

Smelling the fresh air outside, Gu Zhaodi was so excited she almost jumped for joy.

Looking at the girl's sweet smile, Dan Anwen suddenly realized that she was quietly changing.

When I first met her, she had an expression that didn't match her age, as if she were indifferent to life and death. Her tone was always detached from emotion, as if she could never stir up any feelings.

Later on, they will become shy and coquettish, and gradually they will show their little paws, testing the people around them. When they feel kindness, their little paws will gradually show themselves boldly, and they will no longer hide themselves because of some malice.

Now, she can show her little emotions and temper to everyone.

"Uncle Dan?" Seeing Dan Anwen standing there in a daze, the girl became a little anxious. She wanted to go out and play right away.

"Hmm?" The man, coming back to his senses, looked at the girl. "Let's go."

The man opened the car door and let the girl get in first.

The car quickly disappeared in front of the villa.

The winter afternoon sun shone warmly on people, and the biting cold wind subsided. The girl, dressed in a tight-fitting outfit, contrasted sharply with the man next to her, who was wearing a trench coat; the two seemed to be from different seasons.

The two people standing at the entrance of the amusement park looked like parents with their young children.

The girl looked up at the roller coaster in the amusement park, a little excited; she had never been to an amusement park before.

After buying two tickets, the man led the girl inside.

The winter chill couldn't dampen the children's enthusiasm for the amusement park. As far as the eye could see, it was packed with people, mostly parents with their children, and occasionally you could spot couples in love or affectionate spouses.

The man looked at the girl peeking around from her chest; she was clearly the one who had brought her family's child to play.

"What would you like to play first, little one?"

Gu Zhaodi pointed to the dangerous and thrilling roller coaster high in the sky, looked up at the man, and said, "Uncle Dan, I want to ride the roller coaster."

Watching the roller coaster go fast and slow on the track, she thought it must be a lot of fun.

The man raised his handsome eyebrows, surprised that the usually quiet girl actually liked thrilling roller coasters.

"Let's go." The man led the girl to the queue.

Fortunately, the parents weren't too comfortable with their children playing such a dangerous activity, and it wasn't long before it was their turn.

Fasten the seatbelt, the girl's fair hands gripped the handrail tightly, her fingertips turning slightly white, as she took deep breaths.

Seeing the girl's nervous expression, Dan Anwen said gently, "Little girl, if you're scared, it's not too late to go down now."

Gu Zhaodi tilted her head slightly and said with her neck stiff, "Uncle Dan, I'm not afraid."

After saying that, he turned his head back, his attention highly focused, looking as if he were ready to die.

The man chuckled as he looked at her, noting that she was both incompetent and loved to have fun.

The girl remained relatively calm the moment the roller coaster started moving. Looking down from below, she thought the speed was really fast, but it wasn't so bad after all.

The next second, the girl could clearly feel the roller coaster accelerating upwards. Her relaxed expression suddenly tensed up, and her eyes widened.

The roller coaster quickly reached its first inversion, slowing down but increasing the visual terror. As it slowly glided down the turn, the impact was at its strongest.

Just then, a gentle male voice came from amidst the screams, "Little one, close your eyes."

The girl obediently closed her eyes quickly. The visual blockade made her less afraid, but her senses became extremely sensitive. She could even hear her own heavy breathing.

Seeing the girl's eyes tightly closed and her curled eyelashes trembling slightly, the man hesitated for a moment before finally placing his hand on the girl's soft, cold hand.

The girl could clearly feel the dry, warm hand on the back of her hand, as if it carried a strange power that lessened her fear considerably.

Actually, she didn't necessarily have to ride such thrilling roller coaster rides.

Just now at the entrance of the amusement park, she saw a little girl begging her parents to let her ride the roller coaster. Although her parents were worried about the dangers of the roller coaster, they still indulged their child and agreed.

This inevitably reminded her of her mother's favoritism when she was in elementary school.

A few years ago, she went to the market in town with her mother and happened to come across a small mobile amusement park. Her younger brother, Gu Bao, insisted on riding the small roller coaster.

Gu's mother doted on her son and bought him a ticket without hesitation. However, the roller coaster tickets were buy-one-get-one-free, so Gu Bao didn't want to ride it again after just one ride.

She thought she could play the last ticket, but her mother scolded her on the spot, saying that she didn't know how to give way to her younger brother.

The merciless scolding made everyone around her think that she, as the older sister, was being unreasonable by fighting with her younger brother over the roller coaster, and everyone was pointing fingers at her.

Later, that ticket was sold at half price to a stranger.

The wind around her ears gradually subsided, and the strands of hair that had been fluttering against the girl's cheeks fell down.

Seeing the girl's dazed expression, the man led her to a milk tea shop.

"What would you like to drink, little friend?" Dan Anwen asked in a low voice.

The girl looked up at the menu, shook her head, and said, "The milk tea at the amusement park is really expensive!"

"You don't want to drink?" The man raised an eyebrow, assuming the girl didn't want to drink.

Unexpectedly, the girl stood on tiptoe, and the man bent down slightly as well. She whispered in his ear, "Uncle Dan, the milk tea here is too expensive."

After saying that, she gestured for the man to come with her.

The man chuckled, stroked the girl's soft hair, and said gently, "Don't worry, Uncle Dan is rich."

The girl blinked, a little helpless; the familiar scene was about to unfold again.

Sure enough, the next second the man ordered a cup of Taro Milk Tea and a cup of Lapu Mountain Cloud Top Tea.

The first bite is a thick layer of taro paste and a rich taro aroma. The texture is rich and the taro paste is smooth and silky, making it a warming choice for winter. The girl's frightened emotions have calmed down considerably.

The man took a sip of Yunding tea and frowned. His father was a tea enthusiast, and the man had been exposed to tea since childhood. There were many rules about how to brew tea, and it was obvious that this Zhengshan Xiaozhong tea had been ruined. The originally strong aroma had turned slightly bitter.

However, remembering the girl's principle of being thrifty and not wasting food, the man forced himself to drink a few sips and then kept holding it in his hand.
