Chapter 45 Obediently Drink the Medicine

Chapter 45 Obediently Drink the Medicine

"I'll take you to school," Dan Anwen said casually as he parked the car at the school gate.

Gu Zhaodi blinked. "Uncle Dan, no need. I only have one suitcase."

A smile appeared in the man's dark pupils behind his glasses, and his lips curled slightly. "Look behind you."

The girl, confused, looked towards the back seat of the car.

When did these two big bags of things appear in the car?

"Is this for me?" The girl pointed to herself uncertainly, looking at the man with a shocked expression.

The man twitched his neck slightly, nodded gently, and asked with a hint of amusement in his voice, "So, does the little one need a bedtime escort service now?"

The girl looked at the man with a resentful gaze, but don't think she didn't realize what the two large bags behind them were.

A whole bag of Chinese medicine and another bag of unidentified stuff.

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Uncle Dan."

The girl carried one of the lighter bags, with the Chinese medicine placed on top of the suitcase, as the man pushed it along with his well-defined knuckles.

Parents and students passing by frequently glanced at this distinguished man; he certainly stood out among the other parents.

His dignified and elegant image stood out inexplicably harmoniously with the girl's youthful and beautiful appearance.

Fortunately, not many people went back to school today, otherwise tomorrow it would be all talk about between her and Uncle Dan.

"Little girl, do you think Nan'an Middle School is good?" Dan Anwen turned her head to look at the girl walking with her head down, her tone gentle.

The girl smiled and said, "The school is great, both in terms of education and facilities, and the students are also very good."

When the girl talked about her classmates, her face was full of happiness, and the man's smile deepened, even his thick eyebrows were touched with laughter.

"You're a nice classmate?"

"Mmm." The girl had a lot to say about this, "Xiangxiang and Dansi are both very nice, and Dansi even helped me before."

The girl always remembered that Dan Si told her classmates to shut up on the first day of school to protect her self-esteem.

"I heard you're tutoring Dan Si." The man's tone was indifferent, revealing no emotion.

The girl nodded, then shook her head, and said softly, "As the group leader, it's my duty to help the group members with their studies, but it doesn't count as tutoring."

Dan Anwen didn't speak, but a slight smile played on his lips. It seemed he had overthought things; he had thought...

When the topic of high school came up, the girl suddenly wondered where the man had gone to high school.

"Uncle Dan, where did you go to high school?" The girl blinked her starry eyes, staring intently at the man.

The man pursed his thin lips slightly. "I also studied here, so I guess you could say I'm your senior."

"Old?" The girl looked at the man's face; the word "old" seemed inappropriate to describe him.

The man's voice was deep as he slowly said, "I was twelve when I started high school."

The girl was stunned. She did some quick calculations and realized that thirteen years had passed.

"Uncle Dan, you skipped a grade?" The girl swallowed hard.

"She skipped a few grades in elementary school, and then another grade in junior high." The man looked at the girl's dazed expression and a smile played on his lips.

The girl is now very curious about the academic career of the person in charge of the Dan Group. She thinks it must be very impressive. She never thought that she would have such a big shot by her side.

The girl's eyes flickered slightly, and she said in a soft voice, "Uncle Dan, can you tell me about your academic career?"

After she finished speaking, she looked pleading, which softened the man's heart.

Dan Anwen spoke in a nonchalant tone, as if his deeds were nothing remarkable.

As the man recounted his academic journey, the girl felt as if she had met a top-tier celebrity, and that this celebrity was now helping her with her luggage—it was simply a sin.

At the age of fifteen, he majored in business at Southern University. After completing his junior year, he went on to Harvard University for a five-year master's and doctoral program. At the age of twenty-one, he became the CEO of the Tans Group.

"Uncle Dan, you're really amazing." The girl couldn't help but give a thumbs up and nod in affirmation.

The man smiled but didn't say anything more.

Parents were allowed to enter and exit the school and dormitories today, so Dan Anwen easily followed the girl up to the dormitory building.

The man stopped at the girl's dormitory door and handed her the suitcase. "I won't go in. Little girl, you have to take your medicine obediently. Don't refuse to take it just because it tastes bitter."

"Mmm-hmm." The girl nodded frantically, her eyes fixed on the man, a strange look flashing in them.

After the man left, the girl stood alone at the dormitory entrance, lost in thought.

This was the first time an older relative had brought her to school, earnestly reminding her to take care of her health and to take her medicine as prescribed.

Even when she first started elementary school, it was an aunt from the village committee who took her there.

Having never attended kindergarten, she reached the age for nine-year compulsory education. The village committee notified her mother that she should go to primary school, and only then did she have the opportunity to sit in a bright and clean classroom.

The corridor windows were wide open, and a cool breeze brushed against the girl's fair face. The coolness brought her back to her senses, and she placed the things in her hands on the table.

While tidying up her belongings, she discovered that the bags she had been carrying all the way were full of food.

There were snacks that Uncle Dan bought for her these past few days, as well as beef jerky and dried fruit made by Aunt Zhang. Just because she said they were delicious, she stuffed a whole bag full, leaving no room for anything else.

During her time at Uncle Dan's house, not only did Uncle Dan take care of her, but Aunt Zhang also treated her like a younger member of the family.

He would always ask her to try the new dishes he had researched, and he would also tell her about menstrual period precautions that Uncle Dan couldn't easily mention. He would also discuss the plot of the new TV series with her in the living room.

In those short ten days or so, the two of them warmed her broken heart, and during those ten days she did not envy other families' happy reunions.

Looking at these things, the girl's eyes welled up with tears, a faint moisture spreading from the corners of her eyes. Her vision was obscured by mist, making it difficult to see what was in front of her.

The girl twitched her slightly red nose, blinked her watery eyes, and continued to tidy up the items in her hands.

A water droplet, seemingly from nowhere, landed on the corner of the table, spreading out in a circle.

After the sixteenth day of the first lunar month, the campus was once again filled with laughter and joy. Every corner was filled with energetic students playing and laughing together, sharing their experiences of the winter vacation.

"Xiangxiang, why are you carrying so many bags?" Despite the low temperature, Guan Xiang was covered in sweat and panting heavily.

Guan Xiang plopped down in her seat, not wanting to move an inch. "It's all because Dan Si and the others heard I went abroad and wanted me to bring back some foreign figurines."

As she spoke, Guan Xiang gestured for the girl to look at the large pile of various boxes on the ground.

"Sister Guan, where's my figurine?" Yao Xin walked over from the front of the classroom, not seeing the box hidden by the desk, and asked excitedly.

"I almost died from exhaustion because of these few crappy figurines of you brothers." Guan Xiang rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Yao Xin, looking like a peasant, said with a smile, "Sister Guan, you've worked hard. I'll treat you to milk tea this afternoon."

Guan Xiang looked helpless. "It's on the ground. Get it yourself."

"Thank you, Sister Guan." Yao Xin jumped behind the table and carefully placed the box on it, muttering something to herself.

Dan Si and Fang Yuan, who came in later, also quickly went to their seats after seeing the items.

"Is this thing really that attractive?" The girl didn't understand the boys' mindset.

Guan Xiang pursed her lips, "Maybe it's the same attitude we girls have towards clothes."

The girl still didn't understand, since she didn't really care about clothes.

Just then, Fang Yuan came over with a box in his hand. "Sister Guan, what's this?"

He didn't remember they had a figurine box like this, and why is it so heavy?

Guan Xiang glanced at it, then snatched it away. "This is a gift for Zhao Zhao."

Dan Si and the others had so many figurines that they completely covered Zhao Zhao's gifts.

The last time I met Zhao Zhao at Global Harbor, she was in such a hurry that she forgot to give it to Zhao Zhao.

"Zhao Zhao, this is a gift for you." Guan Xiang handed the box to the girl who was making a study plan. "You can't refuse this. Dan Si and the others all have one."

"Okay, thank you, Xiangxiang." The girl nodded and smiled in thanks.

Seeing the girl happily accept it, Guan Xiang grinned and said, "Quickly open it and take a look."

Seeing Guan Xiang's mysterious expression, the girl's curiosity was piqued.

"This is......"

The girl looked at the bottles and jars inside the box, a little confused.

Guan Xiang chuckled, "These are skincare products I specially brought back for you from France. They were developed specifically for girls under twenty, and I've personally tested them and they're effective."

Zhao Zhao's originally sallow face has become much fairer in the past six months, and these skincare products can make her face even whiter, smoother and brighter.

"So, do you like it?" Guan Xiang looked at the girl with delight.

The girl smiled and said, "I like it."

Although she doesn't pay much attention to her skin, no girl doesn't love beauty; everyone has a heart that loves beauty.

"If you like it, that's good. Your face will look completely different in a few months."

“Okay, I’ll show you the changes in a few months.” The girl knew what Guan Xiang was up to.

She only found out later that Guan Xiang befriended her because of her beauty. The girl never imagined that one day she would make a good friend because of this.

"Hehe." Guan Xiang wasn't embarrassed at all. Who doesn't love looking at beautiful women?
