Chapter 75 Jealousy

Chapter 75 Jealousy

Shen Jiyang didn't even knock; he simply pushed open the heavy door to the office.

The sound of the door opening made the man reviewing documents frown, his dark eyes sharply sweeping towards Shen Jiyang standing in the doorway.

As soon as Shen Jiyang entered, he saw Dan Anwen's unfriendly gaze, and his previously dashing demeanor instantly diminished.

However, upon receiving new information, he reverted to his previous carefree attitude.

"You'd better have something to do, otherwise..." Dan Anwen said calmly.

Shen Jiyang sat lazily on the leather sofa and cut straight to the point, "I just saw Zhao Zhao at the entrance of Nan'an Middle School."

After speaking, Shen Jiyang stared at the man with his upturned peach blossom eyes, and sure enough, the man's cold expression shifted slightly.

Shen Jiyang deliberately left the rest of his words unsaid, whetting Dan Anwen's appetite.

As soon as he entered the office, he knew that Lao San definitely didn't know that Zhao Zhao had gone to see a boy. As a seasoned lover, he certainly wouldn't be wrong about Lao San's feelings for that girl.

Even if the third brother didn't realize his own feelings, he certainly wouldn't be sitting so calmly in the office approving documents.

"Finish what you have to say." Dan Anwen put down the black and gold fountain pen from his fingertips, his tone carrying a hint of authority.

Shen Jiyang put down his crossed legs, looking on with amusement, and said in a teasing tone, "She went into the food court across from the school with a boy."

"just in case......"

After he finished speaking, Shen Jiyang had a look of amusement on his face.

He came here just to see the third brother get his comeuppance and feel jealous. This seemingly serious but secretly passionate man is going crazy for love; his jealous expression must be quite a sight.

Upon hearing the word "boy," Dan An frowned deeply, remained silent, and stared intently at Shen Jiyang with his dark pupils.

"What if what?" The man's tone was like ice shards, inexplicably chilling Shen Jiyang's body to two degrees.

Shen Jiyang smiled ingratiatingly, "I'm just worried about Zhao Zhao dating, she's still a high school student."

After saying that, Shen Jiyang wanted to get up and go home.

I should have known better than to come. Now look what happened, I didn't get to see the third brother make a fool of himself, but I might get tricked by him instead.

Before Shen Jiyang could even get off the black leather sofa, Dan Anwen's sinister voice rang out, "I remember that Grandpa Shen was planning to set you up on blind dates a while ago. I'll recommend some socialites to him."

Shen Jiyang is a free spirit, passionate and loves freedom, but as the only son of the Shen family, Old Master Shen can only place all his hopes on him.

However, seeing that his son was hopeless and couldn't be helped, Old Master Shen finally decided to have him get married and have a grandson to inherit the family business.

Speaking of this, Shen Jiyang looked like he had a headache. He didn't like being manipulated by his family in the first place, and now his old man was like a marriage-urging machine, which made him even more irritable.

As an outstanding representative of their generation, Dan Anwen was highly regarded by Old Master Shen. If Dan Anwen were to introduce a socialite to Old Master Shen, Old Master Shen would make sure that Shen Jiyang showed up on time for the blind date, even if it meant dragging Shen Jiyang away.

"Third Brother, since I'm here to provide intelligence, please don't recommend any socialites to my dad, okay?" Shen Jiyang was completely devoid of the high spirits he had when he first arrived.

"Get out of my sight now." The man glanced indifferently at the person on the sofa.

"Alright, I'll take my leave now. Oh, by the way, I've sent the photos to your phone." Shen Jiyang said as he hurried toward the door.

In a short while, the empty office was left with only a lonely man standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

Dan Anwen frowned as he looked at the image on his phone. In the photo, a boy and a girl were looking at each other, their eyes radiating a gentle smile. The boy's eyes, in particular, were filled with obvious affection.

For some reason, the man felt inexplicably irritated, and the peaceful scene of the boy and girl in the photo deeply stung his eyes.

Although he knew that the two of them must be classmates or friends, and definitely not a couple as Shen Jiyang guessed, he still felt inexplicably uncomfortable.

The man was absent-minded all afternoon, and every now and then the image of the two of them smiling at each other would flash through his mind.

It wasn't lunchtime yet, but the man drove back to Jinshan Villa without a second's hesitation.

Liu Lei was stunned. Since Miss Gu started her summer vacation, the president no longer needed to pick her up from school. This was the first time he had skipped work and gone home so decisively, and it was even in the middle of the day.

Meanwhile, Gu Zhaodi and Gu Fang wandered aimlessly through the food court. Gu Fang was actually trying to find something to talk about, but he didn't know what to say.

After thinking for a moment, the boy found a relatively safe and familiar topic, "I only recently found out that Gu Xiaoxiao is also in Nan'an City. I ran into her at the mall last time."

Upon suddenly hearing the name of her junior high school classmate, the girl was momentarily dazed.

The girl and Gu Xiaoxiao were not only classmates, but also lived in the same village. In the past, she would sometimes walk home from school with Gu Xiaoxiao, and the two had a fairly good relationship.

The last time she went back to her hometown for the Chinese New Year, she only stayed for a few days and didn't run into Gu Xiaoxiao.

"How is she now?" Gu Zhaodi asked, pursing her lips.

She wasn't quite sure about Gu Xiaoxiao's current situation, but she could guess that she was most likely working in Nan'an City.

The preference for sons over daughters in her family was not as severe as in her own, but the elders in her family also felt that it was useless for girls to study and that it was better for them to get married early.

Gu Fang didn't notice the girl's expression. He was happy that he had found a topic to keep the conversation going. "She's working now. She's a saleswoman in a shopping mall."

The girl sighed inwardly. She was quite lucky to have been sponsored to go to school by Uncle Dan, to have met him, and now to have become his family.

"It seems she also has a boyfriend," Gu Fang said after thinking for a moment.

The girl was slightly surprised, then understood. It was like an O. Henry ending—unexpected yet perfectly logical.

In Gujia Village, many girls start working to support their families, date boyfriends, get married, and have children right after graduating from junior high school. Their lives seem to have an endless road ahead of them.

Seeing that the girl had fallen silent again, Gu Fang realized that the topic had veered a bit too far into gossip and quickly salvaged the situation, saying, "Gu Xiaoxiao also talked to me about you and asked about your situation."

"So what did you say?" The girl raised her eyes slightly, her tone calm.

Without thinking, Gu Fang said, "I told her about your current situation, and she said she hopes to have the opportunity to meet you in the future."

Boys are not as thoughtful as girls.

If Gu Xiaoxiao really wanted to contact Gu Zhaodi, the easiest way would be to ask Gu Fang for her contact information.

Because Gu Xiaoxiao knew very well that from the moment the girl went to Nan'an Middle School, the two of them were no longer from the same world.

Gu Zhaodi didn't say much; some friends will eventually disappear from a person's life.

The two then found a restaurant that offered good food at reasonable prices. During the meal, Gu Fang talked about interesting things that happened at their school, and the girl would occasionally chime in. The atmosphere was fairly harmonious.

"Then I'll head back now," the girl at the entrance of the food court said to Gu Fang.

Gu Fang felt that time had passed too quickly. "Okay, see you next time."

Watching the girl's departing figure, Gu Fang stood there grinning foolishly, lost in thought for several minutes.

When Gu Zhaodi returned to Jinshan Villa, she immediately sensed something was off about the atmosphere at home. Why wasn't Guoguo as lively as usual?

When I got to the living room, I saw Uncle Dan sitting on the sofa, staring intently at the TV which wasn't on. He looked really strange.

"Uncle Dan, why are you back at noon?" The girl's clear voice pulled the man back to reality.

Men generally don't go back to Jinshan Villa for lunch.

Dan Anwen pursed his thin lips slightly and said in a light tone, "There wasn't much going on at the company today, so I came back early. Aunt Zhang said you didn't have lunch at home?"

The girl placed her crossbody bag on the sofa, poured herself a glass of water, and said, "I went to see a former junior high school classmate and had dinner with him."

Dan Anwen raised her eyes slightly, her tone hesitant, "You mean a classmate from junior high?"

"Yes, that's right. He helped me before, and now that we've reconnected, I treated him to a meal." The girl didn't realize the meaning behind the man's words and simply thought that Uncle Dan was concerned about her whereabouts.

For some reason, after the girl finished speaking, the man, who had been depressed all afternoon, suddenly felt a little better. His tightly pursed lips curled into a faint smile, and there was a glint in his eyes.

"Let's go back to Danyuan for lunch this afternoon," the man said cheerfully, peeling a juicy, tender lychee in his hand.

"Okay." The girl put the lychee in her mouth, puffed out her cheeks, and mumbled her reply.
