Chapter 93 I like girls like little kids
"Knock Knock".
A deep voice came from inside the room, "Come in."
Gu Zhaodi hesitated for a moment at the door, but finally mustered up the courage to push open the study door.
The golden sunset shone through the French windows of the study and landed on the heavy, richly colored bookshelves, adding a touch of tranquility and peace to the golden halo.
The man wore gold-rimmed glasses on his high, straight nose. His eyes were slightly lowered, his features were sharp and distinct, and his thin, pale lips were tightly pursed. He was meticulous in his work.
"Uncle Dan, do you have time now? I have something I want to talk to you about." Gu Zhaodi stood in front of the black desk and asked, pursing her lips.
Dan An only slightly raised his deep eyes when he heard her voice, his gaze still holding a sharp edge that hadn't yet faded.
The man closed the file, stood up, and walked over to her.
"What's wrong?" Dan An asked, noticing the girl's serious expression. He thought something terrible had happened.
As he spoke, he gently patted the girl's soft hair with his large, well-defined hand.
Gu Zhaodi really didn't know how to ask, and her expression was full of difficulty.
Dan Anwen's narrow eyes twitched slightly upwards, and her tone softened again, as if afraid of frightening the child, "Is there anything I can't say?"
Gu Zhaodi mentally prepared her answer, then stammered, "Uncle Dan, do you... do you have a girl you like right now?"
After asking the question, she looked annoyed and wished she could bite off her tongue. What kind of question was that?
Shouldn't you just ask if they're willing to go on blind dates?
However, the girl kept her eyes fixed on the man's expression, as if afraid of missing even the slightest change in his demeanor.
A dark glint flashed across Dan Anwen's eyes. Her upturned lips were tightly pursed, and her eyes were fixed on the girl, filled with emotions that Dan Anwen couldn't understand.
After a long pause, the man spoke in a low voice: "Why would you ask that question?"
Gu Zhaodi looked conflicted and spoke slowly, "Grandma just asked me to ask you how your love life is going lately, and whether you have any plans to go on blind dates."
As they talked, Dan Anwen's helpless expression became more and more obvious. He said, "When did this kid become so gossipy? He's even starting to care about my love life."
However, when the child asked the question just now, he didn't feel the slightest bit of aversion; on the contrary, he felt a sense of pleasure.
"Tell your grandma that I don't have any such thoughts right now, and I don't have a woman I like." Dan Anwen poured himself a glass of water, took a sip, and continued, "Tell her not to worry about me anymore."
Gu Zhaodi felt a huge weight lifted from her shoulders the moment the man said those words.
She subconsciously took this feeling as a way to relax after completing the question-and-answer task, without paying much attention to it.
The girl, having received the answer, smiled slightly, her tone becoming a little more relaxed, even revealing a hint of gossip, "So, Uncle Dan, what kind of girl do you like?"
Seeing the gossipy look in the girl's eyes, the man gently rubbed his fingertips together.
Dan Anwen's alluring eyes slightly upturned as she laughed freely, jokingly saying, "I like girls like little kids."
As he spoke, the man's dry, warm fingers affectionately pinched the girl's cheekbone.
"Huh?" The girl pretended to be angry. "Uncle Dan, you don't have a girl you like, so you can't just talk nonsense."
The man chuckled, his chest heaving, clearly amused by the girl's words; a closer look revealed a hint of tears in the corners of his eyes.
"Uncle Dan, if you keep making fun of me, I'll go tell Grandma." During her stay at Dan Garden these past few days, Gu Zhaodi has also learned to complain to her elders.
It took Dan Anwen a long time to calm down and suppress his laughter, but the upturned corners of his mouth still couldn't hide his good mood.
Gu Zhaodi sighed deeply. She felt that Uncle Dan was becoming more and more like a child, always making fun of her.
But Uncle Dan doesn't have a girl he likes, so it can't be...
As the girl was thinking, her mind suddenly wandered, and she remembered something Guan Xiang had once said.
How can you prove that Uncle Dan's sexual orientation is normal?
Dan An glanced at her watch and realized it was lunchtime. She was about to go downstairs to eat with the child when she noticed something strange in her eyes, as if she were investigating some unknown creature.
"What are you looking at, little boy?" The man looked at his clothes with some suspicion.
A wool turtleneck sweater paired with black casual suit pants is a fairly normal outfit, right?
Gu Zhaodi swallowed hard, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and suspicion. "Uncle Dan, can I ask you one more question?"
On the surface, he appeared calm and collected, but inwardly he was already agonizing over how to express his meaning tactfully.
Dan Anwen raised an eyebrow slightly, glanced at the girl with his narrow eyes, and nodded slightly. "What do you want to ask?"
He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt that the atmosphere around him was somewhat dangerous and uncontrollable.
"Uncle Dan, do you like boys?" The girl stared at the man with sincere eyes.
This time, Dan Anwen wasn't simply stunned; a clear look of astonishment flashed in his eyes, as if the girl had uttered something outrageous.
Where did the child get this misconception from?
Seeing the man's face so dark it looked like ink could drip out at any moment, the girl's throat bobbed involuntarily, and the surrounding environment felt chilly.
Dan Anwen lowered his voice, like the last note of a cello, low and magnetic, "My sexual orientation is perfectly normal, little kid, don't make wild guesses at such a young age."
Gu Zhaodi nodded hastily, afraid that if she hesitated even a second, the man might do something.
Whether it was her imagination or not, she felt as if she sensed Guan Xiang's deep-seated awe for Uncle Dan the moment his expression changed.
"Yes, I believe Uncle Dan, your sexual orientation is normal."
After saying that, the girl felt something was off. It seemed like she was trying to cover something up.
As expected, the man's expression, which had just begun to warm up, darkened again, his thin lips pressed tightly together, and he remained silent.
"Um, um, I, I'll go downstairs first. Grandma just called me for dinner." Gu Zhaodi said, trying to slip away, but the man suddenly lifted her up, her feet leaving the ground instantly.
The man had lost his usual composure and gentleness, and gained a hint of roguishness from a spoiled brat. His voice was alluring, enough to make a girl's ears pregnant, and his warm breath gently brushed against the girl's earlobe, causing a slight tickle.
"Children will pay the price for talking nonsense."
Gu Zhaodi was now on the verge of tears. She should have known better than to be so curious. This was the first time she had seen Uncle Dan reveal his true self beneath his gentle mask, and he was both alluring and terrifying.
"Uncle Dan, I really know I was wrong." The girl raised her eyes slightly, staring at the man expectantly, trying to get him to put her down. Her feet were still dangling in the air.
"Where did you go wrong?" Dan Anwen didn't let the girl off easily, and continued to ask in his deep, magnetic voice.
Gu Zhaodi didn't even dare to struggle anymore, and pitifully replied, "I shouldn't have questioned your sexual orientation."
The more she talked, the lower her head drooped. Could there be anything more embarrassing than this?
Questioning a straight man's preferences.
Unexpectedly, the man still didn't put her down; instead, he turned her around so that she was facing him.
The girl has given up struggling and is now like a dead fish being dragged along by the man for a long time without moving.
However, Uncle Dan's arm strength is really strong; he can easily lift her body, which weighs over 80 pounds.
"Anything else?" Dan Anwen looked at the girl's lifeless expression, suppressed the upward curve of her lips, and asked in a low voice with a hint of a smile in her eyes.
"There's more?" Gu Zhaodi stared wide-eyed at the man in disbelief. Wasn't this the only thing?
Dan Anwen didn't respond; he was just teasing the child out of mischief, but unexpectedly, the well-behaved girl actually started thinking about it.
Before the girl could answer, there was a knock on the study door, and the next second Dan Shu pushed the door open.
To be honest, Dan Shu was truly shocked by what he saw.
The man and the girl were extremely close; from her angle, their faces were almost touching. To steady herself, the girl placed her slender hands on the man's broad shoulders.
Although the man's large, bony hand was gripping the girl's neck, it didn't change their intimate posture.
"Uh, sorry to bother you, please continue." With that, Dan Shu bowed and left the study, thoughtfully closing the door behind her.
Dan Shu, standing at the door, looked shaken and patted her heart nervously.
The scene she just witnessed was so impactful that she forgot her purpose in going upstairs to the study.
However, thinking about her uncle and Zhao Zhao in the study, she felt it was okay not to eat dinner, since Zhao Zhao was enough for her uncle.
Dan Shu hurried downstairs, her mind wandering with all sorts of thoughts.
Inside the study, Dan Anwen and Gu Zhaodi looked at the closed door, exchanged a glance, and then the man released the girl and put her on the ground, coughing lightly.
This was so embarrassing. The girl silently wept inside. What was all this about? Dan Shu would definitely misunderstand.
"Little friend, let's go downstairs for dinner." The man's voice also carried a hint of embarrassment.
The girl nodded blankly and fled the study first.
The man behind her had a suspicious red tinge on his pale skin, but no one noticed.
