Chapter 1 The Tower

Chapter 1 The Tower

Where is this?

Fang Yu, wearing only slippers, a vest and sweatpants, fell into a mess.

I was clearly leaning on the soft Vispring mattress playing with a Rubik's Cube, how did I suddenly end up in this place?

There is no sun or stars in the sky, but it does not affect the vision at all, and it is impossible to find where the light source is.

Looking around, there were ruins all around. There was no sound of wind or water in the air, and it was eerily quiet.

Broken walls and scattered stones are scattered in every corner of the field of vision. Everything seems empty and desolate, as if it is the aftermath of a catastrophe.

The only thing standing between heaven and earth is a strange giant pillar in the distance.

The giant pillar reaches straight into the sky and pierces the clouds in the sky. It is impossible to tell how high it is.

Every few meters on the giant pillar, there is a round bead with a diameter several times that of the pillar strung on it, like a very sparsely strung candied haws.

After counting carefully, Fang Yu found that there were seven round beads in the part he could see.

What the hell is this place? How can I get back? In other words, can I even go back?

Fang Yu tried hard to recall what happened tonight. What on earth did he do to end up in such a place?

I first taught Sister Zhou two classes at the gym. This older sister was too purposeful and kept staring at me...

Stop, stop, think about the business first, what comes next?

By the way, Cheng Yuxin and Liu Xinyan insisted on dragging me out for midnight snacks. These two girls are so peaceful...

Stop, stop, think about business, yes, think about business.

After having supper, I received a call from Wang Xiaoya, saying that there were cockroaches at home... Well, then I went to Wang Xiaoya's house and swatted the cockroaches. After swatting the cockroaches... Well, Sister Xiaoya is really great...

Stop, stop, let’s get down to business.

After finishing the work, I found a Rubik’s Cube at Sister Xiaoya’s house… Oh, right! A Rubik’s Cube!

Fang Yu remembered that it was a 20-sided Rubik's Cube.

It's golden and very well made. I don't know what metal it's made of, but it's very light.

There are some messy lines on each side of the Rubik's Cube. Only when the Rubik's Cube is restored can these lines form strange symbols.

In addition to fitness, socializing and showing off, Fang Yu's biggest hobby is playing with the Rubik's Cube. When he saw this 20-sided Rubik's Cube at Wang Xiaoya's house, he was naturally very excited. He worked on it until three in the morning and it took him more than an hour to restore the Rubik's Cube.

The moment the Rubik's Cube was restored, I seemed to appear in this strange place.

Damn! I already knew you weren't a proper Rubik's Cube. An icosahedron structure like that can't be used to solve a Rubik's Cube!

Why didn't I think of it then? Fang Yu lamented to himself.

Where's that Rubik's Cube? It was in my hand just now.

Fang Yu turned around twice. Needless to say, he was wearing only a pair of boxer shorts. He had hidden other things in other places where he could hide things, so there was definitely no way to hide anything else.

Look at the ground, there's nothing there.

The place was full of ruins. Fang Yu walked around twice but didn't find any clues to help him go back.

Looking at the giant candied haws standing between heaven and earth in the distance, if there is a clue that can lead him back to the past, it can only be there.

Fang Yu was a man of action, and he walked towards the giant pillar with his legs spread out.

Now the only thing Fang Yu was thankful for was that he was wearing a pair of slippers when he was solving the Rubik's Cube. Otherwise, if he walked barefoot, his feet would have been worn out before he even finished the task.

——

Today, Fang Yu finally understood the saying "a horse will die if it runs too fast".

This giant pillar doesn't seem far away because it is so huge.

Just like you can see the slender waist of Yuezhou Prefecture in Huang Feihong’s hometown thirty kilometers away, only when you actually walk there do you realize that the distance is really too far.

As a part-time fitness trainer, his physical fitness was naturally no problem. Even so, Fang Yu felt like he had walked nearly 20 kilometers, until he was exhausted, his mouth dry and his eyes dizzy, and finally arrived under this giant pillar.

Only when he actually stood under this giant pillar did Fang Yu realize how huge it was.

No, this is not a pillar at all, but a huge tower.

The thinnest part of the tower has a diameter of at least 500 meters, and those beads that look like candied haws have a diameter of 3,000 to 4,000 meters, which can almost accommodate a small city.

Standing under the tower and looking up, you can only see a giant bead strung on the tower high in the sky. The rest of the tower is blocked by this giant bead, whose height from the ground is unknown.

The towering tower reaches as high as the sky and stretches as far as the eye can see, but there is no seam between the building materials. Such a huge building seems to be formed as a whole.

The tower body was covered with the same huge and dim strange symbols. Fang Yu felt that these symbols seemed somewhat similar to the symbols on the Rubik's Cube.

What kind of building is this!? Who built it? A god? Could this be the legendary Tower of Babel?

Fang Yu, who does not believe in any religion, couldn't help but doubt his worldview of the past twenty years when he saw such a huge tower.

It cannot be seen from a distance, but when you get to the bottom of the tower, you can see where the bottom of the tower connects to the ground. There is also a, no, it should be half a huge bead, like a giant bowl, placed on the ruins.

Surrounding this giant bowl with a diameter of three or four kilometers is a canyon with a width of nearly one thousand meters.

Black clouds were spreading and rolling below the canyon, and no one knew how deep it was. Fang Yu picked up a random stone and threw it down, but he never heard any echo.

After walking less than a quarter of the way around the ravine, we saw a magnificent suspension bridge spanning the ravine.

Fang Yu cheered up, and the fatigue in his body seemed to disappear a lot. He jogged over.

This... seems to be a tower gate? Standing in front of the suspension bridge, Fang Yu carefully observed this magnificent suspension bridge, which was as wide as several football fields.

Dozens of black chains several meters thick connected the suspension bridge to the tower, and right in front of the suspension bridge was the entrance to the entire tower.

If this suspension bridge is also the tower gate, Fang Yu really can't imagine how big a creature would need such a huge portal.

Fang Yu looked hard, but could only see the wide entrance shrouded in a white mist, and could not see what was inside.

Walking onto the suspension bridge, feeling the solid touch under his feet, Fang Yu took big strides and ran towards the entrance of the giant tower.

More than ten minutes later, Fang Yu stopped in front of the white fog.

There won't be any huge monsters in there, right? As he got closer, Fang Yu felt uneasy. Should he go in or not?

Licking his dry lips, Fang Yu gritted his teeth.

If I can't go back and can't find water, I will definitely die. Since I'm going to die anyway, what is there to be afraid of?

Fang Yu tentatively touched the white mist with his hand. As soon as it touched, the white mist rolled violently as if it was boiling. Fang Yu was startled and retracted his hand to take a look. There was nothing wrong with his fingers, so he felt relieved.

Fang Yu made up his mind, took a deep breath, and stepped into the white fog.

The white fog rolled violently around again, as if avoiding Fang Yu. With every step Fang Yu took, a hole the size of a person would appear in the white fog, and the hole that originally appeared behind him would be filled again by the rolling fog.

"Four hundred and fifty-three, four hundred and fifty-four, four hundred and fifty-five..." Fang Yu counted silently in his heart. He had walked almost five hundred steps, but was still in the white fog.

If Fang Yu had not been walking in a straight line along the square blue bricks on the ground, he would have wondered if he was going in circles.

A blindfolded person can't walk in a straight line; they always walk in circles. Although Fang Yu wasn't blindfolded, walking in the white fog was no different from being blindfolded.

"Eight hundred and eighty-six, eight hundred and eighty-seven..." Just as he took the eight hundred and eighty-eighth step, Fang Yu found that he had walked out of the thick white fog.

"This! This is..." Fang Yu was dumbfounded when he saw the scene in front of him.

There were a few white clouds floating in the blue sky, and the sun shone through the clouds, illuminating the entire city below.

The city roads are empty and quiet.

The wide streets were paved with neatly cut stone slabs, on which strange runes faintly appeared.

The city is dotted with countless pointed-roof buildings of varying heights. Its architectural style is different from anywhere else on the blue planet, and is more similar to the futuristic cities seen in some science fiction blockbusters.

A city!? Had he traveled through time again? Fang Yu looked back, and saw the white mist still behind him. Looking more closely, he could vaguely see a black wall beyond the kilometer-wide mist, similar in material to the exterior of the giant tower he had just seen.

A giant cylindrical tower stands in the center of the city, piercing through the sky of the city, and its top disappears into the clouds.

It was the pillar of the giant tower we just saw outside!

This is a city inside a tower!? The sky and the sun are fake!?

Fang Yu suppressed his surprise and confusion. The most urgent thing was to find water first.

If I don’t drink some water, I’ll probably die of thirst before I find a way back.

Fang Yu looked around and his eyes lit up.

Not far away is a square. In the center of the square, an exquisitely carved fountain is flowing. The spring water gushing out from the nozzle at the top splashes out clouds of mist, which turns into a gorgeous rainbow under the sunlight.

Water! Fang Yu trotted all the way to the fountain, scooped up a handful of water, and licked it with the tip of his tongue.

It has no taste, but it should be drinkable, right?

Fang Yu didn't care about all that. Since he couldn't tell whether it was poisonous or not, he would just drink it and see what happened next.

Fang Yu leaned down impatiently and drank the spring water gushing out of the fountain in big gulps by the pool.

After a long time, Fang Yu burped with a sound of "burp" and sat in the square gasping for breath.

Although I was still hungry, at least I wasn't dying of thirst.

Only then did he finally calm down and observe the city inside the giant tower.

What a strange city, but I can’t figure out what’s strange about it.

What's so strange about it?

Fang Yu stood up, walked around the square, and finally figured out why he felt strange.

No one!

Like the ruins outside, this is also a deserted city.
