Summary of the first month on the shelf and some small thoughts
After finishing the update last night and lying in bed, I saw that many great writers updated a chapter of monthly summary and reflections last night.
I thought, since all the great masters do this, maybe this is also a rule, so I thought about writing an article.
But after thinking for a long time, I really couldn’t think of what to write.
What about the results? The average subscription of 1200 doesn’t seem to be anything to write home about, and 200 of them are due to the trend-setting recommendation yesterday.
Writing feedback for book friends? This involves two issues: first, book friends, and second, feedback.
I can see that several readers have been supporting me in the chapter review section, leaving comments on every chapter. I am really grateful. You are actually my biggest motivation to persevere and continue writing this book.
I have said before that I wrote a book 7 years ago. Although it was 404'd more than a year later, I am not a complete newcomer. The book performed well at the time, making me a level 4 author.
When I started writing this book, I prepared for two months and felt that I was quite well prepared. But after I really started writing it, I found that I had overlooked a very important thing, which is that Qidian’s recommendation mechanism has changed.
Qidian's previous recommendation mechanism relied heavily on editors, who would strive to recommend a product if they saw potential. But now, every recommendation position relies on data; without it, nothing counts.
Moreover, since I hadn't written for so many years, the previous editor may have left and could not be found, so I submitted it directly. It was not signed until it had 70,000 words, wasting the recommendation period of more than 40,000 words, which also laid hidden dangers for the future.
At the beginning, the data was actually pretty good. After one, two or three rounds of competition for new book recommendations, the highest number of follow-up readers reached 2,500. If this result had been put on the shelves at that time, the first order should have been around 1,500.
But at that time, I was determined to create Sanjiang, so the editor gave me a four-round promotion. As a result, I didn’t understand the rules, and on the first day of the fourth round, I exceeded the word count and was removed from the new book list. So the ten consecutive days of no exposure made me lose 1,400 readers in ten days.
This time it is even further away from Sanjiang, so it was put on the shelves in a hurry. The first order after the listing was 642. The average order in this month also increased from less than 500 to 1000. Yesterday, it changed its direction and increased to 1200.
I'm not saying this to vent my frustration. In fact, I strongly agree with Qidian's current recommendation and review mechanisms. I just regret that if I had known more about the changes in the industry, my results might have been much better.
But that's the thing. If you don't experience it yourself, and only rely on information online or what your friends say, you will never have a personal experience.
The way authors write books today is indeed different from many years ago. There are more things to consider, so I won’t go into details about this aspect.
Let’s talk about the future plot.
This book now has almost 160 chapters and 450,000 words. Starting from yesterday, this book officially entered the career line.
My old book friends should know that my last book was about investment. Until now, I still think that my book "Rebirth" is the most professional and best-looking book about investment written on Qidian.
In my previous book, my writing was actually very dry. There was only a storyline but no characters. The reason why I wrote so many female supporting characters in this book was actually to practice the characters, but it does not mean that my ability to write career lines has declined.
Therefore, I am quite optimistic about the future development of my career.
Having said so much, I would like to ask for monthly tickets and recommendation tickets.
Thank you all for your support along the way, and wish you all a happy Children's Day!
