The weather was getting colder and colder, and the wind swirled around Ye Wenyu's hair. But because of the new clothes she was holding in her arms, and the fact that they were a gift from her brother Wen, Ye Wenyu felt as if she were warmed by a fire.
Back in the dorm, her roommates had all returned from get out of class. Ye Wenyu, in a cheerful mood, greeted them happily, placed the clothing bag on her chair, and picked up her phone to check if her brother Wen had sent her a WeChat message. The image of him retrieving the gift from his office earlier flashed through her mind, and his words echoed in her ears: "I bought it on my first day abroad, cut off the tags, threw away the receipt, can't return it," and so on. She couldn't help but smile, her heart filled with a sweet, candy-like joy.
Brother Wen was probably too busy and hadn't sent her a message. Ye Wenyu recalled how a bunch of girls had surrounded him after class, adding him on WeChat under the pretext of studying. She couldn't help but chuckle. Oh dear, she thought, as soon as Brother Wen opens WeChat, he'll probably have a ton of girls' private messages waiting for him to reply. He probably won't have time to send her a message right away. However, thinking that he only has her in his heart and that he only bought her a gift, Wenyu felt incredibly sweet inside.
"Wow, a Canada Goose! The weather's just starting to get cool, winter's still a long way off, and someone's already giving me such an expensive down jacket?!" My roommate Qianqian leaned over, looking at Wenyu's new jacket on the chair, her voice full of envy. Qianqian came from a well-off family and naturally knew what she was getting into, but she herself had never owned a Canada Goose jacket—they were just too expensive, and her parents wouldn't allow her to buy one. She couldn't believe that the poor girl she'd always looked down on in the dorm had actually received one as a gift. A mix of envy, jealousy, and suspicion welled up inside her. Someone willing to give such an expensive gift couldn't be just anyone; their relationship must be special, and their status probably even higher. A sour feeling welled up inside Qianqian.
She asked Ye Wenyu gossipily, "Who gave it to you? Your boyfriend, right? Is he super rich?"
Ye Wenyu glanced at her, smiled slightly, and remained silent. Although she looked only nineteen years old, she was in fact an adult who had experienced the vicissitudes of life and seen through the fleeting nature of fame and death. She had accumulated rich experience from her past life and knew long ago when to speak and when not to speak. When you don't want to answer, just smile silently.
She continued scrolling through WeChat. All three of her roommates had updated their Moments, posting photos they'd secretly taken of the school's most handsome professor in class that day, captioned, "Look, our school's most handsome professor!" And you know what? These days, thanks to WeChat Moments, young girls take photos like professional photographers, complete with filters and editing. Wen-gege looked incredibly handsome and charming in their Moments, making Ye Wen-yu drool. The thought that such a charming Wen-gege only had her in his heart, loving her with all his heart, filled Ye Wen-yu with indescribable happiness.
I once read a saying that if a man has a thousand dollars and gives you nine hundred, and another man has ten thousand dollars and gives you a thousand, then the first man loves you more because he has given you his all. Wen Yu thought sweetly to herself that although her brother Wen was just an ordinary professor who received a salary, he loved her with all his heart and soul, and that was more than enough.
She secretly saved many photos of the handsome professor her roommate posted on her WeChat Moments, and then liked all three of her roommates' posts.
Although her roommate told others about the large birthmark on her face, she is an adult and doesn't hold grudges against children, so she is still very kind to her roommate.
The most important thing in life is to have a good heart and to keep your mouth shut.
Qianqian became a little unhappy when she saw that Ye Wenyu did not answer her question. She gently pushed her and asked, "Hey, what are you doing?"
Wen Yu could only say, "I saw your WeChat Moments. The photos you took of Professor Cai are really good. I liked them."
Qianqian laughed and immediately said proudly, "Oh dear, it's a pity I didn't take a picture with him. Next time in class, I'll find an excuse to take a picture with him. That way, it'll be cool to post it on my WeChat Moments."
Wen Yu sighed and thought to herself, "Girl, are you here to study or to flirt with guys?" Besides, she was also a little nervous. Her Wen-gege was so handsome and charming, and young and beautiful college girls surrounded him every day, flirting with him one after another. How long could he love her? Would he change his mind?
Wen Yu was still somewhat worried.
At this moment, Ying'er stood up and said to them, "Let's go eat." The other two roommates patted their stomachs and said, "Yeah, yeah, we're starving! We're so hungry, let's go eat! Wenyu, come on!"
As Wenjia spoke, she tried to pull Wenyu along.
Ye Wenyu took a step back, somewhat embarrassed, and after a moment said with a smile, "I have some other things to attend to, you can go first."
The other three girls exchanged knowing glances. From the first day of school, Ye Wenyu had never eaten in the cafeteria with them. Even though they were in the same dormitory, she always went alone, which seemed very strange!
Qianqian's face darkened as she said, "We're in the same dorm, and you're always acting differently. It's not a good idea." Her tone was clearly angry.
A seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl's face is like an open book, revealing all her emotions.
Ye Wenyu had no choice but to say, "Qianqian, you've misunderstood me. I really have something to do and don't want to keep you waiting. You should go quickly, or there won't be any good dishes left."
The three roommates then left.
Once the surroundings quieted down, Ye Wenyu slowly sat down in the chair. She carefully put away the Canada Goose bag Cai Wenchuan had given her, and then began to review the lessons she had learned that day. After studying for half an hour, guessing that her roommates and other classmates had finished eating and left the cafeteria, she packed up her books and went to the cafeteria to eat alone.
