Chapter 629 Her Progress

(628)

Lin Tingfeng was indeed waiting there. He was smoking when Ye Wenyu walked out of the examination room, saw him, and called out, "Tingfeng—" before running up to him.

Lin Tingfeng immediately threw away his cigarette in a flurry and stood up straight to greet her. He watched her run towards him like a happy little bird, her steps light and graceful. He stared blankly, dumbfounded. Having lived for so many years, standing at the pinnacle of power and wealth, he had never known what happiness was.

But today, at this very moment, he has learned what happiness looks like! His heart is filled with sweetness, and he can't help but smile broadly.

He knew that he had changed from this point on, and would never be the same again.

He felt a deep sense of gratitude toward God.

Ye Wenyu ran up to him and stood there, her face flushed.

Lin Tingfeng smiled at her and asked, "How did the exam go?" Ye Wenyu raised her eyebrows confidently and said to him, "I felt great."

"She's definitely a top student. When will the results be released?"

"It will be about three months later. If I pass the written test, there will be an interview."

"I'll come with you to the interview. You're so pretty, you'll definitely pass the interview easily."

"Nonsense, this is a civil service exam, it has nothing to do with appearance."

"I'm not making this up. The government also considers appearance when selecting people. What do you think?"

Haha, really?

"Of course it's true. Civil servants represent the image of the country, and the best-looking ones are all chosen by the state."

Lin Tingfeng escorted Ye Wenyu back to the university's girls' dormitory. The campus remained the legendary ivory tower, peaceful and tranquil. The camphor tree leaves rustled in the wind, and groups of students, wearing glasses and carrying books, walked together. Lin Tingfeng parked his car outside the campus and asked her, "What are you planning to do next?"

Time flies, this girl has already graduated.

Ye Wenyu thought about it seriously for a moment, then smiled at him and said, "Wait for the results. While waiting, I'll work. Once I find a job and get a salary, I'll find a place to rent and move out. I can't be a fifth-year student anymore. No matter what, I'm graduating now, and I'd be too embarrassed to move out of the university." Looking at the freshmen who had just enrolled in September, their innocent faces full of curiosity about everything, Ye Wenyu felt that this old man had to leave the school as soon as possible. If he didn't leave, he would really bring shame to his alma mater.

In this life, unlike her previous one, she graduated successfully. Although she hasn't found a job yet, she now has a decent degree, which is something to be happy about.

Thinking of this, Ye Wenyu couldn't help but smile.

In her previous life, she received the greatest wealth in the world because Lin Tingfeng died of illness. That wealth would have allowed her to live like a queen or a princess, buying and buying every day—luxury cars, real estate, cruise ships, and so on. But for some reason, despite her extravagant lifestyle and gluttonous eating and drinking, she couldn't find happiness. Her heart was like a broken eggshell, always empty. Sometimes, she would wake up in the middle of the night because of the tearing pain of that emptiness in her heart.

Later, she became an alcoholic and a drug addict. No matter what she did, she couldn't escape the guilt and remorse that caused everyone to die because of her. Eventually, she could no longer live a normal and healthy life, so she dropped out of university, gave up her prestigious degree that everyone in the country envied, and died by jumping off a cliff in her senior year.

So, compared to the tragedy of her previous life, the fact that she successfully lived to graduate from university and obtained a good degree in this life is a huge improvement!

Thinking of this, Ye Wenyu's eyes shone like stars.

Lin Tingfeng nodded approvingly when he heard Ye Wenyu's well-planned arrangements, but he also felt a pang of sympathy for the life she had chosen. A young girl had to face the hardships of life alone. Society is a cruel magician that will use all sorts of methods to brutally beat young people who have just entered society.

He didn't want Ye Wenyu to experience the hardships he suffered in his youth. When a man loves a woman, he always wants to do everything he can to take care of her.

Lin Tingfeng pondered. Although he now only had one-third of the shares in the Lin Group and was no longer the powerful president of the Lin Group, and his future was unknown, he still wanted to do his best to take care of her because he had love in his heart.

Therefore, Lin Tingfeng composed himself and said to Ye Wenyu, "Xiaoyu, I've been divorced for a long time, you know that, right?"

Ye Wenyu nodded, a sense of confusion rising within her as she wondered what Lin Tingfeng meant by suddenly saying such a thing.

Lin Tingfeng then said earnestly, "So if I take care of you, no one will gossip, and therefore, it won't hurt your face or dignity."

Ye Wenyu nodded again. She was beginning to understand what he wanted to say. A warm feeling washed over her, and she looked at him with a smile in her eyes.

Sunlight streamed in through the car windows, and music flowed in like a gentle stream, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere inside the car.

Lin Tingfeng thought for a moment, then forced a smile and said gently in a silken tone, "Although I don't have the same wealth and ability as before, I'm still more than capable of taking care of the girl I love. I'll find you a decent job and buy you a small house, so you won't have to work so hard, okay?" He said all that because he knew she wouldn't agree. He looked at her anxiously, his heart filled with sincerity, which was reflected on his handsome face.
