The next day, Qianqian told Ye Wenyu early in the morning, "There's an elective class taught by the school's most handsome professor tonight. I'll go early to reserve a seat, Wenyu, dress up nicely!" Ying'er added with a grin, "That way you can win over the professor!"
Ye Wenyu smiled. Her phone beeped with a WeChat message. She opened it and saw it was from her brother Wen: "I'm back in China today. I'd like to invite you to dinner tonight. I'll probably be free around nine o'clock."
Ye Wenyu saw the WeChat message and smiled foolishly. Na moved her fingers and sweetly replied in a private message, "Okay."
Brother Wen sent another private message, saying considerately, "Isn't nine o'clock too late? Why don't you eat something to fill your stomach first?"
Even through the phone screen, I could feel his gentleness.
Ye Wenyu smiled sweetly and replied, "Okay, I also have class tonight, nine o'clock would be best."
A smiley face appeared on the other end of the line. Ye Wenyu happily put away her phone and went to class. She felt as good as if she were floating on a colorful cloud.
As evening approached, the three roommates returned to their dorm early and began to carefully dress up, taking showers, washing their hair, changing clothes, and putting on makeup, as if they were attending a grand ball.
Ye Wenyu was still wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, with a mask on her face. In October, as the weather gradually cooled down, she added a beige sweater over her white T-shirt. She wasn't wearing makeup, and her hair had grown longer, cascading down her sides like a waterfall. She looked very simple, quiet, gentle, and well-behaved.
While her roommates were getting ready, she was preparing her lessons. Saturday was in two days, and she would be going to teach a private tutoring class. Since she had taken their money, she had to do her job properly.
Qianqian, dressed in her finest attire, noticed Ye Wenyu still wearing black-rimmed glasses and scribbling at her desk like a bookworm. She reminded her, "Hey, this is the class taught by the school heartthrob."
Ying'er said with disdain and sarcasm, "Haven't you studied enough in your senior year of high school, you top student?"
Ye Wenyu shook her head and continued preparing her lesson while slowly saying, "Don't even mention the school's most handsome professor, I wouldn't be interested even if a prince came."
She knew she couldn't be exactly like her three roommates because, in reality, her mental age was completely different from theirs. Although she forced herself to participate in their activities, due to her unique family circumstances and her goals in this life, it was impossible for her to always keep pace with them. This was unavoidable, and she could only hope that her roommates could understand and let her quietly pursue her life goals in this life.
Qianqian walked up to her with a grin, snatched her pen from her hand, and said, "So, you must have a boyfriend, right?"
Ye Wenyu was stunned. She thought of Brother Wen. Was he her boyfriend? No way. She hadn't confessed her feelings to Brother Wen, and he hadn't confessed to her either. At most, they could only be considered to like each other.
She'd been in university for over a month now, busy with military training, part-time jobs, and studying. Wen-gege seemed quite busy too; he'd mentioned on WeChat that he'd just returned from abroad, most likely after their last meeting. Ye Wen-yu remembered her mother saying the Cai family had prospered, and she figured her mother was probably telling the truth, otherwise why would Wen-gege suddenly go abroad? She thought that if she wanted to be worthy of Wen-gege, she had to work hard; otherwise, Aunt Cai might look down on her.
Ye Wenyu's mind wandered, feeling both sweet and somewhat flustered.
Qianqian patted her face and said to her, "Hey, beautiful, what are you daydreaming about? If it's not your boyfriend, then you must have someone you like?"
Ye Wenyu smiled, didn't say anything, but nodded slightly, which was taken as acknowledgment. Yes, Brother Wen was the one she loved.
Qianqian blinked and asked her, "Was it the man who came to see you on the day of freshman registration? He was also wearing a mask and looked somewhat familiar. Oh, maybe he was too tall and wearing a mask, so he looked like a male celebrity."
Ying'er, now all dressed, asked Ye Wenyu curiously, "Your sweetheart is also wearing a mask. Does he also have a birthmark? You two are a perfect match."
Ye Wenyu was stunned for a moment, and Ying'er realized that she had said the wrong thing. She immediately stuck out her tongue and said to Wenyu, "Pah, I misspoke. I'm sorry."
Ye Wenyu smiled and said without any objection, "No, he doesn't have a birthmark. He's the most handsome man I've ever seen, definitely more handsome than your school's heartthrob professor!"
Qianqian retorted, unconvinced, "Impossible! We'll see each other soon, let's have a competition, hmph."
The four girls chatted and laughed as they went to their elective class. As they walked, Ye Wenyu walked quickly and took the lead. She was used to walking briskly to save time, while her three roommates were used to being more relaxed and walked slowly, quickly falling behind.
She heard Ying'er's voice: "What a pity. With such a great figure, such fair skin, such thick hair, and such beautiful eyes, she has such a big birthmark on her face. If Wen Yu didn't have the birthmark on her face, she would definitely be the campus belle of our Q University."
Ye Wenyu was stunned for a moment.
Qianqian slapped Ying'er and whispered to her, "What nonsense are you talking about? Be careful she hears you."
Ye Wenyu smiled, stopped, and waited for her roommates to catch up. She said to them, "I'll walk with you." The other three roommates were naturally happy to see her willing to approach them and, thinking of the ugly birthmark on her face, felt sympathy for her.
The four girls arrived at the large classroom for their elective class. They thought they were early, but many girls had arrived even earlier, and the classroom was packed. The first six rows were filled with girls, all dressed beautifully, as if they were participating in a beauty contest. The back was full of boys. Ye Wenyu thought to herself that the school's most handsome professor was indeed incredibly charming. She whispered to Qianqian beside her, "Why are there boys here?"
