Chapter 171 Taking the Initiative

(171)

Ye Wenyu blushed slightly, thinking to himself that perhaps this was why he had gone to such lengths to get her—because she could bring him happiness. And happiness, for him, was as rare and precious as a pearl in the desert.

Why could she bring him happiness? She continued to ponder this, and the only reason was that he loved her very much! Because when you love someone, even if you don't do or say anything, just seeing them fills you with joy. She understood this principle deeply, because she loved him. When she saw him, even if he was just standing there in the distance, even if he wasn't looking at her, just knowing he was there made her happy.

A joy that fills the sky and the earth, beyond words.

While Ye Wenyu was lost in thought, Lin Tingfeng stood up and said to her wearily, "It's late, you should go to sleep early, you have school tomorrow." Then he turned and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

Ye Wenyu was somewhat dazed. Hearing the "swish" of water coming from the bathroom, her heart pounded. She wondered if his words implied that he didn't intend to sleep in the same room as her? There were two bedrooms in the room. She slept in the master bedroom, and he slept in the guest bedroom last night. Did he plan to sleep in the guest bedroom again tonight?

How can this be considered cohabitation?

She lives with him and no longer cares what outsiders think of her, but he seems to still adhere to some kind of strict rule. Could it be, as he said yesterday, that he hopes she will be willing, both physically and emotionally?

Her body—well, she'd admit it—had an insatiable desire for his body, so intense that she didn't even care whether she willingly gave up her virginity.

But she honestly admitted that she was unwilling to accept it. She didn't know how much of his affection for her was genuine and how much was feigned. She didn't know if he loved her or not. All along, Lin Tingfeng had been like an unfathomable mystery to her.

So she always thought that one day she would definitely leave.

Perhaps he realized it, so he was waiting for the right moment, waiting for her to fall completely in love with him and trust him completely?

Ye Wenyu silently cleared away the dishes, washed them in the kitchen, mopped the floor, and tidied the kitchen spotlessly before leaving.

As she passed through the living room, she noticed that the light was on in the guest bedroom. Sure enough, he had gone to the guest bedroom after taking a shower, but the fact that the light was on meant that he hadn't gone to sleep yet.

She couldn't help but stop and turn around. Just a few steps away was the door to the guest room. The door was ajar, and a sliver of light shone through. It should be easy to push the door open and enter. Should she go in or not?

Her heart was pounding, and her body felt like it was on fire. Okay, she admitted it, her body was thinking about him again. She just loved it when he held her tightly.

But it seems too undignified to beg him for warmth and care like this?

Ye Wenyu gritted her teeth, took a shower, hurriedly returned to the master bedroom, closed the door, and prepared to sleep.

However, lying in bed with the lights off, she lay awake in the darkness, tossing and turning like a pancake, unable to fall asleep.

My body felt like it was on fire, with countless tiny flames dancing and leaping around me.

Finally, I jumped out of bed, turned on the light, and walked out barefoot with a determined heart.

The living room was dark, and the wooden floor felt cold to the touch when I walked barefoot. A cool summer night breeze blew in through the open balcony window, carrying a slight chill. The guest bedroom was still lit, its light seeping out like water through the half-open door.

The room was quiet, and she could hear her heart pounding suddenly.

Ye Wenyu checked the time; it was already one in the morning, and he was still awake. She couldn't sleep, and it turned out he couldn't sleep either!

She held her breath and tiptoed toward the guest room like a nimble cat, wanting to see through the half-open door what he was doing—whether he had fallen asleep and forgotten to turn off the light, or was still reading.

She blushed and thought to herself that she had no evil intentions; she was just unable to sleep and was simply curious.

As I approached the guest room door, I nervously held my breath and peeked through the crack in the door. I saw that he wasn't asleep; he was wearing a black bathrobe, sitting half-upright on the edge of the bed, reading a book.

She couldn't help but swallow hard. Yes, she was spying on him, because he was so handsome!

The warm, crab-shell-yellow light, the handsome, charming man, the high-end, gleaming furniture—Ye Wenyu was somewhat mesmerized. She remembered the protagonist in *Green Book* writing a letter to his wife, in which he said, "When I think of you, I think of a beautiful, warm house, brightly lit—"

She thought to herself that she would remember this scene forever.

"What are you doing?" His voice rang out, startling Ye Wenyu. She quickly took a few steps back, her face instantly turning red. It turned out he knew she was outside the door.

But he was still holding a book, the large book blocking his view. How did he know she was outside the door?

"Come in." He was still speaking to her through the book, his tone commanding. Ye Wenyu had no choice but to muster her courage and push open the door, her face flushed.

However, she remained standing at the doorway as a small act of defiance against his orders.

Although she really wanted to go in, she refused.

Lin Tingfeng was still reading, as if the book possessed the greatest magic in the world, making him unable to put it down.

Ye Wenyu leaned against the door frame and mustered her courage to say to him, "Um, could I... sleep with you?" Her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz, and her pretty face was flushed.

Hahaha, hahaha, she could almost hear him laughing wildly behind the book.

Okay, she admits that the reason she couldn't sleep was because she wanted him to hold her. The reason she got up in the middle of the night and sneaked into the guest room to peek at him was also because she wanted to hold him.

She admitted that her body had always had an insatiable desire for his body.

Lin Tingfeng didn't say anything, but Ye Wenyu felt him shake the book he was holding. Was he really laughing? Her face flushed red, and she wanted to turn around and run back to her room with pride, but in fact, she shamelessly remained standing there without moving.

She wouldn't leave until he gave her an answer.

As if explaining, she said softly, "I...can't sleep—"

She sensed his silent, maniacal laughter behind the book, because the book seemed to be trembling.

"Hey—" she brazenly stomped her foot and raised her voice, "Give me an answer."

Lin Tingfeng finally put down his book. Ye Wenyu looked at his face with trepidation. If he was laughing at her, she would immediately dig a hole and hide. But he didn't laugh or anything. Seeing that he wasn't mocking her, she finally felt less embarrassed.

Lin Tingfeng said to her expressionlessly, "The answer is no."

"Why?" she asked, annoyed and unwilling to accept it.
