Chapter 595 A Witness

(594)

Ye Wenyu felt a little relieved, her heart settling into her chest. She looked at Lin Tingfeng and smiled brightly. She held Lin Tingfeng's hand tightly and nestled her cold face against his arm. She thought to herself, perhaps all of this was just a misunderstanding, just Lin Tingyue's provocation, just her own wild imagination.

In fact, whether her mother committed suicide by jumping off a building or was murdered, it was not Lin Tingfeng's fault; the murderer was someone else.

Seeing Ye Wenyu's complete trust in him, Lin Tingfeng relaxed completely. He loosened his tense back, leaned back on the sofa, and slowly closed his eyes. He could finally relax and get some sleep.

That night, Ye Wenyu acted as if nothing had happened, cooking with Lin Tingfeng, eating together, and finally taking a shower and going to bed.

Only when Lin Tingfeng began snoring and drifted into a sweet dream did Ye Wenyu open her eyes. By the soft moonlight, she looked at the man beside her and thought about how deeply she had loved him. Even now, she still felt love for him. If he really was the murderer of her mother, she estimated that she would have a mental breakdown and go crazy.

How she wished he wasn't!

It won't just be Lin Tingfeng who dies; she will die too. It will be a tragedy for everyone.

Thinking of this, Ye Wenyu's eyes reddened, and tears were about to fall. If Lin Tingfeng really did kill her mother, yet she had shared a bed with her enemy for so many years, she truly felt she had let down her unjustly murdered mother!

That night, Ye Wenyu just stared at Lin Tingfeng beside her, unable to sleep.

The next morning, guessing that Lin Tingfeng was about to wake up, she pretended to be asleep beside him. Lin Tingfeng woke up, gently kissed her on the cheek, and then went to the company with renewed energy. Ye Wenyu stayed by the bedside for a while, thinking that she knew everything about his gentle kiss and his quiet way of getting up, even though her eyes were closed. He seemed to really love her. Perhaps, he hadn't killed her mother. After all, loving someone would extend to loving everything connected to them, and someone who truly loved another would never do such a thing.

Therefore, Ye Wenyu felt much more at ease. Sunlight streamed in through the window, casting dappled patterns on the floor, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Ye Wenyu rallied her spirits and headed to school. Walking in the bright sunlight, she felt like a fish in a river of sunshine. She thought that to avoid further trouble, she should throw away the flowerpot on her way home that day. It was all just her wild speculation. However, just as she was making this decision, Lin Tingyue appeared.

The moment Ye Wenyu saw Lin Tingyue, she turned away, intending to take another path. She wanted to keep her distance; this devil, once she appeared, would throw her life into chaos. She had already decided to trust Lin Tingfeng; her current happy life hadn't come easily, and she didn't want to watch it be destroyed by someone else.

Therefore, it is important to keep your distance from female demons like Lin Tingyue.

However, just as she was about to leave, Lin Tingyue stood in front of Ye Wenyu like a wall, moving faster than she had ever imagined. She lowered her voice and asked, "Don't you want to know the truth about your mother's death?"

It's that again! The bright sunshine has disappeared, and the sky has become gloomy, as if a huge lead plate is pressing down on it.

Ye Wenyu raised her head, looked coldly at Lin Tingyue, and said indifferently to her, "Lin Tingyue, if you harass me again, I'll tell your brother!"

She knew Lin Tingyue was most afraid of Lin Tingfeng; it was a case of one thing subduing another. Because she couldn't directly confront Lin Tingfeng, she targeted her. She should have known all along that this was a scheme by Lin Tingyue, using her mother's death to lure her into a trap. She almost fell for it; thank goodness!

Lin Tingyue was stunned. She knew that if Lin Tingfeng knew what she had done over the past month, she would probably be in grave danger.

A layer of cold sweat seeped out from her back like rain.

While Lin Tingyue was still in a daze, Ye Wenyu had already walked past her. By the time Lin Tingyue came to her senses, Ye Wenyu was already far away. Lin Tingyue cried out that something was wrong and chased after him in three steps.

"Ye Wenyu, I didn't lie to you, I have proof!" Lin Tingyue shouted at Ye Wenyu's back.

Upon hearing this, Ye Wenyu's shoulders trembled, and she suddenly turned around. Evidence? Lin Tingyue really had evidence?

At this moment, she was tormenting herself in the abyss of suspicion because she had no evidence. She knew that if she continued to live with Lin Tingfeng with such suspicion, she would have to constantly work on her mental preparations for the rest of her life and would never be happy.

If Lin Tingyue wasn't lying, and if she really had evidence, then the matter would eventually come to a conclusion.

Ye Wenyu's emotions told her to leave this place of trouble and this witch Lin Tingyue immediately, but her reason told her that she couldn't leave. Therefore, her feet seemed to be rooted to the ground, and she didn't move an inch.

Lin Tingyue seemed to see a glimmer of hope, and she rushed towards Ye Wenyu. Fear filled her large eyes, and she nervously looked around. A gust of wind blew by, and the camphor trees on both sides swayed their canopies, making a rustling sound, which made her feel a little scared. She had a feeling that Lin Tingfeng's people were watching her from some unknown place.

Lin Tingyue kept encouraging herself, then calmed herself down and said to Ye Wenyu in a low voice, "If you trust me, come with me, I'll take you to see someone."

For her future, she had to fight to the death. Besides, she was telling the truth; she had only done one good thing—revealing the truth to the public.

Seeing someone? Who? Ye Wenyu's curiosity was greatly piqued. Lin Tingyue turned around and hurriedly walked towards a corner. Ye Wenyu was so curious about who had killed her mother that, like iron filings attracted by a magnet, she couldn't help but follow Lin Tingyue forward.

The two stopped in front of Lin Tingyue's red sports car. At this moment, a strong northeast wind was blowing, whipping their long hair and clothes. The air pressure around them was frighteningly low. Ye Wenyu's heart was pounding like a drum, and she was experiencing extreme cold and heat. Then Lin Tingyue opened the car door, and Ye Wenyu got in. There was a person in the car, a man in his thirties, dressed in black, thin, with a murderous look in his eyes!

Ye Wenyu was startled and lowered her head. The person in front of her looked too frightening, and she dared not think too much about it. She wondered, could this be the person Lin Tingyue was taking her to see? What was this person's connection to her mother's death?
