Chapter 44 My Heart Is Melting

Chapter 44 My Heart Is Melting

Hua Cheng did not gain any advantage in his first meeting with his younger self.

But it doesn't matter; a mature man never argues for the sake of a momentary verbal spar, after all...

Yun Jin didn't cheat, hehe. Yun Jin only has him in her heart, hehe. Yun Jin just loves him too much, hehe, that's why she secretly did so many things, hehe ...

Ah, thinking about how much she had worried about him during this time, Hua Cheng felt both sweet and painful, wishing he could present the whole world to her.

Of course, this is just an exaggerated rhetorical device; after all, he wasn't rich enough to buy the whole world.

Even if I can't really give her the whole world, I still have to give her the gifts she deserves.

After sneaking back to his own ward from Hua Yu's, Hua Cheng began to think about what he should give Yun Jin as a gift.

She's already received a lot of jewelry and luxury watches; besides having a full safe at home, she also has a huge collection stored in the bank, but she rarely uses them.

There's no need for a mansion or sports cars. Yun Jin isn't a fat guy; she doesn't like those flashy things. There are still seven or eight supercars lying in the garage collecting dust at home.

There's no need to deal with assets and cash anymore. What's his is hers. Even if you go through the proper gifting procedures, it's just going from one pocket to another, which is meaningless.

Thinking about it that way, all I can give her is...

As soon as Yun Jin entered the room, she saw him staring intently at her.

She turned and left.

"Wife!" Hua Cheng called to her.

Yun Jin turned back, stood in front of the hospital bed with her arms crossed, and asked, "What are you up to now?"

"What can I do?" Hua Cheng smiled, knelt on the hospital bed and put his arm around her. "Wife, what did you have for dinner?"

"sandwich."

"Are you full?"

I'm full.

"Is it tasty?"

It's full of nonsense.

Yun Jin smiled: "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"I want to say..."

Hua Cheng let out a laugh. Although his eyes were no longer as clear and bright as when he was 20, they still possessed a mature charm.

He smiled and looked at Yun Jin: "Let me try some."

Yun Jin remained noncommittal, simply watching him quietly.

The ward was brightly lit, and the fresh air system kept the temperature at 26 degrees Celsius year-round, ensuring excellent air quality with neither too hot nor too cold temperatures. Yet, Hua Cheng felt a bit restless at this moment.

He lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on her lips, a smile playing on his lips as he slowly reached for her breath...

When there was only a fraction of a second between their lips and teeth, Yun Jin suddenly spoke up: "When I went out to eat, you didn't go and bother him, did you?"

Hua Cheng paused, his eyes flickering: "No, why would I bother him?"

Yun Jin squinted her eyes.

Hua Cheng pretended nothing was wrong, straightened up, swung his arms a couple of times, and lay back down.

Yun Jin raised an eyebrow slightly: "Not going to kiss me anymore?"

"Your expression just now reminded me of my high school homeroom teacher; I couldn't bring myself to kiss him," Hua Cheng said honestly.

Yun Jin: "..."

"It doesn't feel like that anymore, we can continue kissing." Seeing that he had fobbed off the previous topic, Hua Cheng immediately changed his tune and tried to get up to kiss her.

Yun Jin pressed him back onto the bed: "I'm going home to sleep tonight."

Hua Cheng: "Okay."

Can even a clingy person be this easygoing?

Yun Jin was quite surprised: "Aren't you going to ask why?"

Hua Cheng, ever the unserious one, reached out and stroked the faint dark circles under her eyes, his eyes always brimming with amusement: "Go back and get a good night's sleep."

Yun Jin didn't speak.

Hua Cheng sighed, pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly: "You've had a tough time these past few days, baby."

Yun Jin looked up at him, and Hua Cheng lowered his head to exchange a tender kiss with her.

We've been married for so long, kissed so many times, that we know each other better than we know ourselves. When to open our mouths, when to breathe, and what kind of intensity can make us more affectionate—these are all things that don't need to be said.

Even with such familiar homework, there's still a thrill of encountering new question types every time I do it. My knees rub against each other as I work through the questions, and my hands start to wander.

In the end, Hua Cheng forced the stop, looking at Yun Jin's tired eyes, he breathed heavily, "No, if this continues, you're not going home."

Yun Jin raised her arm to cover her eyes and ignored him.

After her breathing calmed down, she tidied her disheveled hair and looked down at the person on the bed: "You, go to sleep quietly and don't go looking for him."

"Okay." Hua Cheng nodded.

Looking into his sincere eyes, Yun Jin still felt uneasy. She had an important meeting early the next morning, and her appropriate meeting attire was at home. If she stayed overnight at the hospital, she would have to get up very early tomorrow…

Seeing her suddenly fall into deep thought, Hua Cheng immediately got off the bed and pushed her towards the door: "Give me some trust, wife. I've already promised you, how could I go back on my word?"

"I don't……"

"I know you didn't mean that. Be good, go home early, take a hot bath, get a good night's sleep, and go to work hard tomorrow to earn money to support me."

As Hua Cheng spoke, he pushed her along, and they soon reached the door.

Yun Jin brushed his hand away, stopped, and looked at him.

Hua Cheng looked completely innocent. After staring at her for a few seconds, he couldn't help but chuckle and said, "Wife."

“You seem very happy today,” Yun Jin said, looking him over.

Hua Cheng hummed in agreement, readily admitting it.

"Is it because of Hua Yu's appearance that you realized you could be saved?" Yun Jin asked curiously.

Hua Cheng: "It's because I love you."

A serious question, but an unserious answer.

Yun Jin glanced at him, told him to get some rest, and then closed the door for him from the outside.

The door was tightly closed, and Hua Cheng was the only one left in the room. Suddenly, the air seemed a little colder.

“I was thinking of taking you to the garage…” he murmured softly, then chuckled.

Yun Jin stood outside the door, paused for a moment, and then looked into another ward.

After thinking for a few seconds, she found the attending physician and asked about Hua Yu's condition.

"There is indeed an intracranial hematoma, but the bleeding is within a controllable range. The patient is conscious and there is no neurological damage. Surgery is not necessary. The patient is also a little malnourished and anemic, but these are not major problems. As long as the patient cooperates with intravenous infusion and medication during hospitalization, the patient can be discharged in about half a month."

Yun Jin nodded and then asked about his emotional state.

"He's very stable and listens to advice. If we tell him to stay in bed, he'll stay in bed all afternoon. He also ate dinner well. He just doesn't like to talk. Apart from basic communication, he won't say a word..."

Yun Jin listened attentively to the doctor's words and said, "Thank you."

The top floor of the hospital was already spacious and quiet, but it became even more silent after nightfall.

Hua Cheng, who rarely suffers from insomnia, tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. Just as he was thinking about how to pass the time, a soft sound came from the door.

Someone's here?

He immediately perked up his ears.

This cautious movement could not possibly be Yun Jin, so who else could it be?

The hospital's security is top-notch in the entire Pingcheng, not to mention the bodyguards arranged by Yun Jin. Ordinary criminals shouldn't be able to get in, so it can only be...

"Ah!" He suddenly jumped out of bed.

Liu Zhuang, who was sneaking into the house, looked terrified: "Ah!"

Hua Cheng snapped on the light and pointed at the still-shaken Liu Zhuang, laughing.

Liu Zhuang realized what was happening and was so angry that he wanted to teach him a lesson, but when he thought that the man didn't have much time left and would never torment him like this again, he couldn't help but feel a lump in his throat.

Hua Cheng was laughing happily, but when he looked up, he saw that his chubby brother's eyes were red, and his laughter stopped abruptly, like a chicken with its neck snapped.

"No, Fatty, I was just joking," he jumped off the bed, flustered, and cupped his chubby brother's face in his hands. "Don't cry, Fatty, I'm sorry, please don't cry..."

"Who's crying?" Liu Zhuang wiped his face; his eyes were wet.

Hua Cheng panicked even more, and simultaneously reached both hands under his chin to catch his tears.

"Damn it..." Liu Zhuang was amused by his actions.

Hua Cheng dared not laugh, but just stared at him awkwardly.

"I wasn't scared to tears," Liu Zhuang said, feeling a mix of bittersweet emotions at his son's adorable appearance. He patiently explained, "I wasn't angry either. I just suddenly thought about your illness and felt a little uneasy."

"I see..."

Hua Cheng was relieved, turned around and got into bed, crossed her legs and said to him, "Then you don't need to be sad anymore, I'm recovering."

Liu Zhuang: "..."

“Really,” Hua Cheng emphasized.

Liu Zhuang forced a smile: "Yes, you will definitely recover."

After saying that, she couldn't hold it in any longer, rushed into the bathroom, closed the door, and burst into tears.

Hua Cheng: "..."

Three minutes later, Liu Zhuang returned with bloodshot eyes.

Hua Cheng hesitated, then decided against exposing the truth.

Liu Zhuang also felt that he was almost forty years old and it was a bit embarrassing for him to lose control of his emotions so easily, so he pretended that nothing had happened.

"Do you know why I came?" he asked, trying to appear calm.

Hua Cheng: "I don't know."

"I couldn't sleep, so I was smoking in the neighborhood when I saw Yun Jin come back," Liu Zhuang said.

Hua Cheng: "You were worried that I would be alone in the hospital without anyone to keep me company, so you came."

“Yes,” Liu Zhuang nodded. “Yun Jin is busy with the company’s affairs, and your sister-in-law is taking care of Bei Bei. I’m the only one with nothing to do, so I’m coming to keep you company… If you don’t want me to keep you company, I’ll leave now.”

“How could I not want you to come?” Hua Cheng said with a smile, pulling him along. “I usually want you to come when Yun Jin isn’t around.”

"So I'm just a backup option?" Liu Zhuang laughed in exasperation.

Hua Cheng said seriously, "You're the only backup option, be content."

He was just joking to ease the tension, but Liu Zhuang remained silent for a long time before nodding in agreement.

"I'm content, I'm very content. After all, every meeting is one less time we can meet..." Liu Zhuang said, and then he almost cried again.

Hua Cheng quickly reassured him: "Calm down! Calm down, Fatty. I was serious when I told you I was recovering. I wasn't joking."

Liu Zhuang wanted to say how could that be, but when he met his earnest eyes, he was still momentarily dazed: "Really?"

“Really.” Hua Cheng nodded again.

Liu Zhuang's breathing slowed, and he couldn't believe it: "Is...is there some major breakthrough in medicine?"

“It’s me at 20 years old who has traveled to the present. As long as he can heal his head injury, I can also recover,” Hua Cheng said.

Liu Zhuang: "?"

Hua Cheng: "This story begins in June when Yun Jin obtained a time-traveling watch..."

He finished telling the story that had lasted for several months in just twenty minutes, then looked at Liu Zhuang with satisfaction, waiting for his surprised reaction.

Liu Zhuang stared at him blankly for a long time before rushing into the bathroom again and bursting into tears.

Hua Cheng: "..."

Liu Zhuang didn't cry for long this time before coming out, his chubby face wet as if he'd been rinsed in a water tank.

“Chengzi… my Chengzi…” He hugged the emaciated patient tightly, unable to hold back his tears, and cried again, “You were fine yesterday, how come you suddenly started to have a mental breakdown today? What should I do to save you…”

The more he talked, the more heartbroken he became. Liu Zhuang cried and beat his chest, but because Hua Cheng was still being held in his arms, he beat Hua Cheng instead.

Every punch lands squarely.

Hua Cheng's vision blurred from the beating, but he seized the opportunity to escape the man's clutches and scrambled to the corner, loudly explaining, "I'm telling the truth!"

Liu Zhuang was even more grief-stricken and reached out to hug him again: "Chengzi..."

"Stop! I can vouch for you!"

Liu Zhuang stopped in his tracks and looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Hua Yu was in a bad mood.

The person he liked approached him, but not because they liked him. He thought that even without a formal title, there would at least be love, but in the end, he had neither a formal title nor love.

The bed was too soft and uncomfortable, the wound on his head hurt a lot, the dinner was too bland, nothing was going right, and he had to sleep on his stomach to avoid putting pressure on the wound.

He doesn't like sleeping on his stomach at all.

It was almost midnight, and Hua Yu lay on the bed, wide awake. Just as she was wondering whether she should go out for a walk, the door was suddenly pushed open gently.

The sound is actually very small, but in an overly quiet environment, even a small sound can be amplified.

His heart suddenly raced, and his eyes began to sting. But before he could process any more emotions, two furtive figures appeared in his line of sight.

Hua Yu: "..."

"Did you see that?" Hua Cheng asked softly.

Liu Zhuang also whispered, "It's pitch black, what can you see?"

"Why don't you move closer?" Hua Cheng suggested.

Liu Zhuang: "Won't it wake him up?"

"Probably not, young people sleep very soundly." Hua Cheng pushed him forward.

Liu Zhuang thought it made sense, so he held his breath and tiptoed to the bedside.

Then he met a pair of cold, piercing eyes.

Liu Zhuang: "..."

"See that?" Hua Cheng stood behind, his hands cupped to his lips like megaphones, his voice trailing off. "Isn't it exactly like me?"

Liu Zhuang: "..."

Seeing that he didn't move, Hua Cheng raised an eyebrow: "Scared?"

Liu Zhuang: "..."

"You're such a coward. I'm just twenty years old, what's there to be afraid of?" Hua Cheng pushed him away and squatted down, then met Hua Yu's gaze the next second.

He gasped.

Three seconds later, the ward was brightly lit.

Hua Yu stared expressionlessly at the two uninvited guests, but when her gaze fell on Liu Zhuang's face, a faint look of surprise flashed in her eyes.

When he looked at Liu Zhuang, Liu Zhuang was also looking at him. He looked left and right, and finally couldn't resist reaching out to pinch him.

Hua Yu was caught off guard when her cheek was pinched, and she immediately slapped his hand away in displeasure. "Hey," Liu Zhuang laughed, turning to Hua Cheng and saying, "This stubbornness of yours is exactly the same as yours when you were young."

"He is actually me when I was young." Hua Cheng shrugged, seemingly pleased with himself.

Liu Zhuang clicked his tongue twice: "That's amazing, truly amazing. I can't believe such a thing can happen in the world. I have to let your sister-in-law come and see it tomorrow."

"Sister-in-law, just take a look. Let's keep it from Beibei," Hua Cheng reminded her. "She's just a kid, and she can't keep her mouth shut. I'm afraid it will cause unnecessary trouble if she tells anyone."

Upon hearing this, Liu Zhuang immediately asked, "Someone who looks exactly like you suddenly appeared and lives in the apartment two doors down from yours, and none of the doctors reacted?"

“Yun Jin made them sign a confidentiality agreement immediately. This kid’s current identity is my secret younger brother,” Hua Cheng explained. “As long as we don’t say anything, who would guess that he’s me?”

Liu Zhuang nodded: "I trust Yun Jin to handle things, but there's really no need to arrange for you two to be in the same hospital and stay so close. What if we get caught?"

“There’s nothing we can do. All the top neurosurgeons are here, so he has no choice but to stay here,” Hua Cheng sighed.

Liu Zhuang: "That's right. Compared to all the unnecessary troubles, the most important thing is to cure him so that he doesn't get brain cancer at such a young age."

The two chatted as if no one else was around. Hua Yu watched them coldly, already annoyed, now even more annoyed.

Liu Zhuang looked at Hua Yu and couldn't help but chuckle again. He was about to touch him again, but when he met Hua Yu's gaze, his outstretched hand changed direction and pinched Hua Cheng's face instead.

Hua Cheng: "?"

"I want to pinch you," Liu Zhuang said.

Hua Cheng stretched out his face: "Pinch it."

Hua Yu's patience completely ran out, and she grabbed a pillow to chase the two mushy old men out.

Hua Cheng and Liu Zhuang were herded out the door like two sheep, groaning all the way.

The door closed, and I finally had some peace and quiet.

Hua Yu rubbed her eyes haphazardly, then turned off the light with a straight face and went to sleep.

Chen Yueqin arrived early the next morning.

"How beautiful Hua Cheng is!" she exclaimed, cupping Hua Yu's face in her hands.

Hua Yu: "..."

Hua Cheng and Liu Zhuang were also surprised that she would attack them directly. They were terrified and tried to pull her away, but Chen Yueqin glared at them and told them to get out.

“Wife…” Liu Zhuang glanced at Hua Yu with high vigilance, “Don’t touch him, he will bite.”

"How could that be?" Chen Yueqin looked at Hua Yu. "Do you bite?"

Hua Yu: "..."

“Look, he’s not biting,” Chen Yueqin said.

Upon seeing this, Liu Zhuang turned and ran.

Chen Yueqin looked at Hua Cheng.

Hua Cheng said, feeling wronged, "Sister-in-law, I want to leave too."

"Go out quickly, I have something to talk to Xiao Huacheng about. I'll cook you something delicious tonight," Chen Yueqin reassured him.

Hua Cheng: "I don't want baby food."

"Okay, make something spicy." Chen Yueqin patted his butt. "Hurry up and get out of here."

Hua Yu's eyelids twitched, and she subconsciously looked at Hua Cheng's reaction.

Hua Cheng didn't react, rubbed his buttocks, and left.

Hua Yu: "..."

that's all?

Is this how you react when someone pats your butt?

They are definitely not the same person. Even when he is eighty years old, he will never allow anyone to touch his butt!

Hua Yu was stunned for a few seconds, then noticed Chen Yueqin was about to touch him again, so he immediately backed away.

Chen Yueqin was taken aback by his strong reaction.

Hua Yu paused for a moment, then said, "Your hand just patted his butt..."

We can't just slap his face again.

Chen Yueqin understood the subtext, smiled, pulled up a chair and sat down: "You must have been startled by my sudden appearance here?"

Seeing that she wasn't angry, Hua Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said calmly, "It's alright."

"Have you had breakfast?" Chen Yueqin asked again.

Hua Yu: "I've already eaten."

"I bought some fruit when I came, see if there's anything you like..."

“You don’t need to do this,” Hua Yu couldn’t help but interrupt.

Chen Yueqin didn't react immediately: "Huh?"

Hua Yu turned her face away: "I'm not the Hua Cheng you know, you don't need to care about me."

Chen Yueqin chuckled: "In your world, you and Liu Zhuang already know each other, right?"

Hua Yu couldn't help but glance at her.

“I am his wife, and we have a daughter. Aren’t you curious about what your friend’s daughter looks like?” Chen Yueqin asked gently.

Hua Yu's eyes flickered slightly, but she remained silent for a moment.

Chen Yueqin understood, took out her phone, opened the photo album, and swiped to Beibei's photo: "Look, this is what she looks like."

In the photo, Beibei is holding up her certificate, her face beaming with joy.

Hua Yu stared at it for a long time, then whispered, "It doesn't look like him..."

Upon hearing this, Chen Yueqin thought he was disappointed.

The next second, he suddenly breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank goodness."

Chen Yueqin was amused.

After sharing the photos, the atmosphere eased considerably, and Chen Yueqin took the initiative to chat with him about other things.

Hua Yu wasn't good at chatting and didn't know how to get along with elders, but Chen Yueqin was gentle and kind, and always smiled when she spoke to him. Even though he was withdrawn, he still said a few more words.

They also ate lunch together that day.

Humans are social animals, and even the most reclusive person needs social activities. In the 27th hour after Hua Yu appeared in the unfamiliar time and space, she finally showed a slightly relaxed expression.

After lunch, Hua Yu was going to take a nap, so Chen Yueqin helped him draw the curtains and quietly slipped out.

As soon as he closed the door, he immediately called Yun Jin.

Yun Jin was in a meeting and only came back five minutes later: "Sister-in-law, how is he?"

"He seems alright, but he looks a bit haggard, probably because of his injury," Chen Yueqin sighed. "I can tell he still wants to see you. Every time there's a slight noise at the door, he immediately looks over there like a little puppy. When are you going to come and keep him company?"

Yun Jin smiled silently, then looked at the pile of documents on the desk and said helplessly, "I'll probably be sleeping at the company for the next couple of days."

She's been gone for too long, and Hua Cheng was suddenly hospitalized. Too many things have piled up until today, and several projects have been forced to postpone. If this isn't resolved soon, the board of directors might hold a meeting to criticize her.

"Then you go ahead and do your work, I'll keep an eye on things here," Chen Yueqin said hurriedly.

Yun Jin agreed, and then Xiao Zhou knocked on the door. She said a few more words and then hung up.

"What is it?" she asked.

Xiao Zhou: "The project meeting of the expansion department will begin in ten minutes. We would like to invite you to attend."

Yun Jin nodded: "Get ready, come with me."

Xiao Zhou nodded and was about to prepare the materials when he suddenly asked with concern, "You probably won't be taking any more leave recently, right?"

Yun Jin looked up.

Xiao Zhou sighed, pointing to his dark circles: "Since you started taking so many days off, I feel like I've aged at least ten years."

Yun Jin stared at him for a while, then remembered the little kid from 2013 who would secretly wipe his sweat on his grandmother's body, and said, "He does look quite old."

Xiao Zhou: "?"

Knowing that Yun Jin had just returned to the company and would definitely be very busy, Hua Cheng was very considerate. He would only send messages to remind her to eat at mealtimes and to go to bed at night, and kept quiet at other times.

Of course, the main thing is that there are new ways to pass the time—

Douhuayu.

He once came across a quote online that said people often can't empathize with their past selves. He scoffed at it then, but now he regards it as gospel.

How ridiculous is he at 20? He always has a cold face, is easily provoked, and chases people away with a pillow at the drop of a hat.

The funniest thing is that he chases people away with pillows. The soft pillows become lethal weapons in his hands. It's really hilarious.

After being chased out once again, Hua Cheng leaned against the wall and laughed loudly.

Liu Zhuang looked reluctant: "Chengzi, aren't we going a bit too far by making such a fuss about him?"

"Isn't it fun?" Hua Cheng asked back.

Liu Zhuang thought for a moment: "It would be fun."

The two looked at each other and burst into laughter again.

Hua Yu locked the door with a dark expression, vowing that if they dared to come again, she would smother them with a pillow.

Unaware of the chaos in the ward, Yun Jin was busy from morning till night, and even went abroad to participate in an event.

When she finally had a little free time, she realized that it was already the fifth night that Hua Yu had been here. Around nine o'clock the next morning, he would be bounced back to his own time and space.

After pondering for a long time, Yun Jin finally returned to the hospital.

Today is Friday. Liu Zhuang and Chen Yueqin have both gone home to be with Bei Bei. Hua Cheng is all alone and has nothing to do, so he goes to the living room for some fresh air. However, he didn't expect to run into Yun Jin as soon as he stepped out.

"What brings you here?" he greeted with a smile.

Yun Jin looked him up and down and said, "You've gotten fat."

“Just a little bit,” Hua Cheng said, spreading his arms and turning around. “You can still feel my abs. If you don’t believe me, touch them.”

Yun Jin declined his invitation.

Hua Cheng was persistent and insisted that she touch him.

Yun Jin was speechless: "This is outside."

"There's no one here." Hua Cheng said innocently.

Yun Jin squinted her eyes.

"...You can touch it when you get back."

Hua Cheng immediately gave in, took her hands from behind, rested his chin on her head, and walked with her to the ward like a spirit.

When Hua Yu came out of the house, she happened to see the two of them sticking together.

He paused for a moment, then his expression quickly turned cold.

But Hua Cheng still held Yun Jin's hand and greeted her, "Hi."

Yun Jin looked over.

Hua Yu's eyes instantly reddened, and she turned and went back into the house expressionlessly, slamming the door shut with a deafening bang.

"Wife, he has no manners at all," Hua Cheng sighed.

Yun Jin gave him an elbow strike, and Hua Cheng clutched his chest, groaned in pain, and became obedient.

It was already late at night.

Hua Yu couldn't sleep, so she stood in the hallway to get some fresh air.

The windows in the hallway were open, and a cold wind was blowing in. He was only wearing a thin nightgown, but he seemed unaware of the cold, simply gazing quietly into the distance.

2025 doesn't seem to be much different, except there are more high-rise buildings and brighter lights, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

Looking at it this way, a 12-year gap isn't that long.

"You'll catch a cold if you keep doing this."

Hua Yu's eyes have become voice-activated at some point; the moment a familiar voice sounds, he feels like crying.

Before he knew that her husband was himself from 12 years in the future, he already knew that she had a husband. But seeing how intimate they were today, he still found it hard to accept.

Yun Jin didn't know what he was thinking. After walking to his side, she bent down and took his hand.

"It's so cool."

Hua Yu was like a rusty robot; when she turned to look at her, she could almost hear the old, clattering sounds coming from her own bones.

He watched as she took off her coat, stood on tiptoe, and draped it over him. As the warmth of her lingering body heat enveloped him, his flesh softened rapidly, then a tearing pain shot through him.

He tried to take off his clothes, but Yun Jin held his wrist down.

"Don't take it off, you'll get sick."

The wind was too strong, and Hua Yu's nose stung even more, but her voice remained calm: "Are you worried about me, or are you worried that he will be implicated by me?"

After so long apart, Yun Jin no longer wanted to repeat the phrase "you are the same person," so she gave him a more acceptable answer to his question.

"Of course it's because I'm worried about you."

Upon hearing her affirmative answer, Hua Yu indeed let go of her hand and allowed the clothes to be draped over her body.

“I asked the doctor,” Yun Jin followed his gaze to the neon lights in the distance, “You’ve been recovering very well recently. As long as you stay in bed for a while longer, you’ll be fully recovered.”

"I should leave tomorrow." Hua Yu hadn't forgotten the five-day deadline she had mentioned.

Yun Jin smiled silently: "I came here today to talk to you about this."

"Where are we coming from?" Hua Yu looked at her again. "To the hospital, or to the emergency exit?"

Yun Jin: "Come to the hospital."

So... she came here today for him.

It wasn't because of that annoying old man.

Hua Yu felt a little better, but then she remembered how intimate they were, and her expression changed several times.

“Your intracranial hematoma has been brought under control. If you go back to 2013 and stay in the hospital for a while, you should be able to recover completely. However, the medical standards in 2013 are not as good as those in 2025. I suggest that you stay in the hospital here instead.”

As Yun Jin spoke, she took out a black wristwatch from her pocket.

Looking at the tattered watch, Hua Yu's breathing slowed, and after a long while, she asked, "What if I don't come back?"

Yun Jin didn't say anything, but simply put the watch on his wrist.

Hua Yu's eyes instantly reddened: "What do you mean by this? Giving me the watch, are you trying to tell me you won't come looking for me again? If I don't come back, are you planning to never see me again in this lifetime? How can you be so heartless? It seems like you're giving me the choice, but you're actually forcing me..."

Before he could finish speaking, Yun Jin suddenly grabbed his collar and yanked him hard.

Hua Yu lost her balance and bent over.

Their lips and teeth collided, producing a dull pain. Their heartbeats instantly exceeded their safety limits, almost overwhelming all their emotions.

Hua Yu's mind went blank. After a long period of stunned silence, she vaguely saw a figure flash by outside the stairwell.

When he looked up, there was no one there.

After the brief touch ended, Yun Jin took a step back and asked, "You'll come back, won't you?"

Hua Yu stared at her for a long time before hurriedly turning her face away. But because she turned too forcefully, her tears flew out in an arc.

"You've gone too far..." he choked out his accusation.

Yun Jin lowered her eyes and gently squeezed his fingers reassuringly.

It was already 1 a.m. when they finally coaxed the person back to their room.

Hua Cheng was asleep. Yun Jin went into the ward, tucked him in, and sat by his bedside for a while before leaving.

The door opened and closed, blocking out the light. Hua Cheng opened his eyes and stared blankly at the curtains that were not fully drawn.

It was already this late, but Yun Jin didn't go home. Instead, she went into the ward she had previously requisitioned. Hua Cheng was on the left and Hua Yu was on the right in this ward, so she could know immediately if anything happened.

The next day was the day Hua Yu was to leave. Yun Jin went to the company first, and after the meeting, she came to see him off.

After a night of calm, Hua Yu was able to barely control her emotions when facing her, and even had the mood to ask her, "What does it feel like to be bounced out?"

"It feels the same as turning the hands of a clock, like the air suddenly taking shape; it's hard to describe," Yun Jin explained.

Hua Yu nodded.

After a long pause, he said, "I think I can feel it."

Yun Jin looked at him.

Hua Yu was also looking at her, and as his feelings grew stronger, he finally couldn't help but ask, "If... I mean if, if I weren't Hua Cheng, if I weren't your husband, and if you and I met as strangers, would you still like me?"

Yun Jin was silent for a moment, then a slight smile appeared on her lips: "Of course."

"Why..."

Before he could even utter the word "me," he vanished completely.

Looking at the empty hospital bed, Yun Jin thought that he should come back, after all, he hadn't finished asking his questions.

On the morning of November 22, 2013.

Hua Yu stood silently by the deserted suburban roadside for a long time before taking out her phone and calling Liu Zhuangzhuang.

The phone was answered after only one ring, and Liu Zhuangzhuang's furious voice immediately came through: "Where have you been these past few days? Why didn't you answer the phone! Have you been detained again, or been involved in a pyramid scheme...?"

"Fatty," Hua Yu called out to him.

Liu Zhuangzhuang fell silent instantly, and after three seconds asked cautiously, "What really happened?"

“The situation is a bit complicated,” Hua Yu said, casually finding a place to sit down. “Yun Jin’s husband found out about me.”

Liu Zhuangzhuang remained silent for a long time.

"I don't know what to do," Hua Yu said, feeling a little dizzy from the bright sunshine. "Fatty, what do you think I should do?"

"What else can you do? It's all been discovered anyway, and you can't let go of Yun-jie, so why not just go all the way and snatch him away! If he were a good husband, how could Yun-jie have fallen for someone else? Let me tell you..."

He kept babbling on and on. Hua Yu knew he didn't understand the situation, so he said a lot of things wrong, but one thing he said was quite right.

He couldn't let go of Yun Jin.

After pondering for a long time, Hua Yu asked, "Brother Pang, will you help me?"

"certainly."

Will you always stand by my side?

"nonsense."

Hua Yu took a deep breath and made a decision.

2025, hospital ward.

Liu Zhuang peeled an apple and looked up to see Hua Cheng staring blankly.

"Chengzi, Chengzi!"

Hua Cheng snapped out of his daze: "Hmm?"

"Want some oranges?" Liu Zhuang asked.

Hua Cheng: "Eat."

Liu Zhuang handed him the apple, and Hua Cheng took a bite.

"Is it good?" Liu Zhuang asked.

Hua Cheng: "Delicious."

"I also think this apple is delicious."

Hua Cheng paused, then realized what he was holding, and said speechlessly, "Fatty, you're so boring."

Liu Zhuang was both amused and exasperated: "You've seemed preoccupied ever since I came in. What happened?"

Hua Cheng seemed about to say something, but then smiled faintly and said, "It's alright, it's all over."

"Fine, if you don't want to talk about it, that's fine," Liu Zhuang stood up and stretched. "I'm going downstairs to buy a milk tea. What do you want?"

"don't want."

Liu Zhuang nodded and turned to leave. After leaving the ward, he was about to walk towards the elevator when the door of another ward opened.

He instinctively turned around, and froze when he saw Hua Yu: "You...didn't you go back?"

“I’m not going back,” Hua Yu said. “I’m going to stay here to recover.”

“That’s great. Medical conditions in 2013 are definitely not as good as in 2025. It’s wonderful that you’re willing to stay,” Liu Zhuang said with a smile.

Hua Yu stared at him for a few seconds, her brows furrowing slightly, and called him softly, "Fatty."

This was the first time Hua Yu had called 37-year-old Liu Zhuang that.

He called him Fatty.

Young, innocent, and still somewhat childlike, Hua Cheng called him Fatty.

Liu Zhuang silently clutched his chest, wondering if he no longer had a heart.

because.

My heart melted.
