Chapter 8 Shareholders' Meetings
On the morning of July 30, 2025, Yuncheng Technology held a shareholders' meeting.
Half an hour before the meeting started, shareholders of all sizes had already arrived at the venue. Those with scheduling conflicts had also appointed proxies in advance to ensure the attendance for the day.
Wearing sunglasses, Liu Zhuang sat down in a corner with a blank expression after submitting his identification documents. Shareholders who were usually on good terms with him wanted to chat with him, but they were all deterred by his cold demeanor.
Yun Jin sat in another corner, looking down as she flipped through the list of attendees, occasionally chatting with the person next to her to confirm various details of the conference.
As for Hua Cheng and Feng He, they were like two centers, separated by a distance that was neither too close nor too far, each surrounded by a group of people chatting animatedly.
As the time drew near, the shareholders took their seats, including Liu Zhuang and Yun Jin. Feng He glanced at Hua Cheng, who immediately walked over to him.
"Did you get things sorted out with Yun Jin?" Feng He asked casually.
Hua Cheng nodded to his old friend not far away and said, "Yes."
"What's wrong with Liu Zhuang? He seems unhappy," Feng He asked again.
Hua Cheng: "I had a fight with my sister-in-law."
Feng He nodded: "It's not about the vote. Although our votes combined are high, in the end, we still won't amount to much without him and Yun Jin."
Hua Cheng: "I understand."
Feng He glanced at him: "If Yun Jin asks you after the meeting why I voted in favor..."
“Just say we have other benefits to exchange,” Hua Cheng said with a smile. “Don’t worry, Uncle Feng, I can handle this.”
"Hey kid, don't get too cocky," Feng He half-jokingly punched his shoulder. "Even if the voter turnout exceeds 60% today, it doesn't guarantee success. Any problem in the subsequent announcements, regulations, integration, or the exchange could lead to all our efforts being wasted. To be on the safe side, you should stay put for now and not contact Wanwan anymore."
"But……"
"No buts. I'll take care of Wanwan, there won't be any problems. Or do you not even trust me?" Feng He deliberately put on a stern face.
Hua Cheng laughed, his voice tinged with laziness: "What should I do, Uncle Feng? I'm so touched, I don't know how to repay you."
Feng He sighed, "Your kindness to Wanwan is the greatest reward you can give me."
Hua Cheng was about to say something when Liu Zhuang suddenly spoke up: "What are you two doing? Why aren't you here for the meeting? Are you on your honeymoon?"
His loud voice instantly made him the center of attention in the quiet conference room, drawing countless inquiring glances at Hua Cheng and Feng He.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Feng He laughed and cursed, then took his seat first.
Hua Cheng, with a smile, walked across the long table and finally sat down next to Yun Jin. Under the cover of the table, he used the tip of his leather shoe to kick Yun Jin's chair leg.
Like an immature elementary school student.
Yun Jin stepped on his mischievous shoe tip and ground it without changing her expression.
Today she wore a pair of eight-centimeter red-soled high heels, which were both dignified and sharp, and could be used as weapons if necessary.
Hua Cheng's neck veins throbbed slightly, and he silently withdrew his foot: "We can begin."
Wu En: "Okay, Mr. Hua."
The shareholders' meeting officially began. Before the voting, there was a lengthy qualification review process, which was handled by Wu En, while Hua Cheng presided over the meeting.
The process of selecting vote supervisors, deliberation, Q&A, and announcing the voting rules takes a considerable amount of time.
When the meeting was two-thirds over, Hua Cheng's forehead was beaded with sweat. In front of everyone, he took out a box of vitamins and ate two pills. Yun Jin was looking down at the documents, and Liu Zhuang was wearing sunglasses and staring blankly. In the end, Feng He asked someone to pour him a glass of water.
The shareholders' meeting lasted until 1 p.m. before voting finally began. Hua Cheng, as the chairman of the board, was the first to vote, followed by Feng He and others.
The voting results came out quickly: 79.3%.
A very high number of votes.
Many people were surprised, and even Feng He glanced at Hua Cheng in surprise.
Hua Cheng simply smiled and calmly accepted everyone's congratulations.
After it was over, Feng He retired successfully, and Yun Jin also left, leaving only Liu Zhuang sitting in his seat wearing sunglasses.
The directors present were all shrewd individuals. They could tell from the atmosphere that he and Hua Cheng had something to talk about, so they declined Hua Cheng's lunch invitation and made excuses to leave.
Soon, only Liu Zhuang and Hua Cheng remained in the large conference room.
Hua Cheng's social smile vanished, and he turned to Liu Zhuang, asking, "Are you blind? You didn't take off your sunglasses the entire time during such an important meeting?"
"What's it to you?" Liu Zhuang retorted.
Hua Cheng raised an eyebrow: "Still angry? Where did you get such a temper?"
“Mind your own business,” Liu Zhuang pulled out a chair, walked up to him, and said with his chin raised, “I voted against it.”
Hua Cheng nodded: "I know."
If he had voted in favor, the number of votes would have been more than 79%.
"Even if I voted against it, it wouldn't have affected the final result at all. Aren't you particularly smug?" Liu Zhuang questioned expressionlessly, looking like a gangster boss in sunglasses.
Hua Cheng replied politely, "How could that be?"
Liu Zhuang sneered: "Stop pretending, you look like you're about to die of smugness."
Hua Cheng held back for a few seconds, but couldn't help laughing.
Liu Zhuang immediately punched him in the stomach.
His punches were much more solid than Yun Jin's. Hua Cheng had been acting somewhat before, but this time he was really in so much pain that he bent over. By the time he finally recovered a bit, Liu Zhuang was already almost at the door of the conference room.
"Where are we going?" Hua Cheng asked, raising his voice.
Liu Zhuang: "Airport!"
"Isn't your flight at 2 PM? Let's grab a bite to eat together."
"Eat my ass! I don't want to talk to you right now!"
After Liu Zhuang finished speaking, he left without looking back.
Director Liu is a kind person, so we didn't let him treat us to a meal for fear of him spending too much money, but we still had to take care of the meals for the other directors.
Since the process was not yet complete, things could change at any time, so Hua Cheng didn't want to be too high-profile. He simply asked Wu En to book a table at a nearby hotel.
Yun Jin was too lazy to attend this kind of dinner that was neither purely business nor purely private, so Hua Cheng came alone to socialize, holding a wine glass and chatting with everyone with a smile. By the end of the dinner, his face was almost stiff from smiling.
After Wu En finished making arrangements for all the shareholders, he hurriedly returned to the hotel lobby and saw Hua Cheng sitting alone on a sofa in the corner, his eyes lowered, seemingly lost in thought.
Unlike his gentle and approachable demeanor in public, he was cold and aloof at this moment, exuding an indescribable sense of dejection.
But this expression lasted less than ten seconds before his razor-sharp gaze came straight at him.
Wu En felt a shiver run down her spine when he looked at her, and quickly stepped forward: "President Hua, let me take you home."
“No need,” Hua Cheng unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt and picked up his suit jacket, which was placed to the side. “I can go back by myself. You can go back too.”
"But……"
Before he could finish, Hua Cheng had already left.
After standing there for a moment, Wu Enjing had no choice but to go to the underground parking lot alone.
The night was deep, and the already quiet five-star hotel became even more silent. Hua Cheng walked out listlessly, and when he reached the connecting corridor outside the main entrance, he suddenly revealed a completely unguarded smile.
Yun Jin sat in the car, one hand casually resting on the steering wheel. Seeing him standing there grinning like an idiot, she impatiently rolled down the window: "Aren't you going?"
“Let’s go.” Hua Cheng responded immediately.
As soon as he got into the car, Yun Jin smelled a strong odor of alcohol, and her brows gradually furrowed.
Hua Cheng proactively explained, "I didn't drink alcohol; the smell on my body was intentional."
"oh."
Hua Cheng silently raised the corners of his lips and leaned back in his chair, relaxing: "I'm so tired, honey, I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up when we get home."
Yun Jin didn't say anything this time, she just drove quietly.
Hua Cheng quickly fell asleep, and the streetlights rushing past the car window cast wave after wave of light and shadow on his face, as if time had suddenly become tangible at that moment.
When Yun Jin parked the car in the underground garage, the person was still not awake. He was curled up in the passenger seat, looking as if he were dead.
Yun Jin stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly slapped him.
Hua Cheng woke up instantly: "Huh?"
Yun Jin remained calm and said, "It's nothing."
Hua Cheng: "..."
After the shareholders' meeting, there were countless procedures to go through. Huacheng was busy with this matter all day long, and all the decision-making work was handed over to Yunjin.
Yun Jin has been traveling all over the country lately, often so busy that she doesn't even have time to eat. Only after Hua Cheng's process was completely finished did she have a chance to get a good night's sleep.
She slept for nearly twenty hours that day, and when she opened her eyes, she was alone in the room.
An intense sense of loneliness overwhelmed her like a surging tide, and just as she was about to suffocate, she suddenly saw the electronic perpetual calendar on the wall.
[September 3, 2025, 2:43:23 PM]
She calmed down instantly.
"woke up?"
Hua Cheng's voice rang out, and Yun Jin looked up to see him standing at the door with a smile, holding a glass of juice.
The juice was freshly squeezed, very clear and sweet. Yun Jin drank a whole glass, which finally eased the unease of oversleeping.
She changed her clothes, intending to go out for some fresh air, but when she walked into the living room, she saw the invitation on the table.
“I found Feng He’s birthday invitation in your car,” Hua Cheng explained.
Yun Jin then remembered Feng He's birthday.
She was too busy recently, so after receiving the invitation, she casually tossed it in her car and went to a meeting, and then never thought about it again.
Luckily, Hua Cheng retrieved the invitation, otherwise it would have been very impolite.
Yun Jin, who had originally planned to go out for a casual stroll, looked at Hua Cheng and said, "Let's go, come with me to pick out a dress, and we can also choose a gift for Feng He."
Hua Cheng readily agreed.
Feng He's birthday is three days from now, at noon, at his home.
The birthday party wasn't a large event; the guests were either business partners or longtime friends.
Because it was a luncheon, Yun Jin got up early in the morning and sat in her dressing room while the styling team worked on her.
This process was quite long for Yun Jin. She originally wanted to casually read some news to pass the time, but as soon as she opened her phone, messages started popping up everywhere.
"Sister, you haven't replied to my messages lately, I'm angry!"
"Sister, when are you coming? I'll come pick you up!"
"Sister, I miss you so much! Come here quickly, come here quickly, come here quickly~"
"Sister, sister, sister~~~"
Yun Jin decisively exited WeChat, but a new message came immediately after she exited, so she had to open it again.
"Sister, it's getting chilly, remember to put on a coat."
Yun Jin replied with '1', and the phone went completely silent.
It was almost ten o'clock when they finished getting ready. Hua Cheng had been waiting downstairs for a long time. When he heard the sound of high heels, he immediately looked up and saw Yun Jin wearing a beige haute couture dress, slowly walking downstairs.
He chose this dress; it complements her skin tone and curves perfectly, and it's lightweight enough not to hinder her movements.
"How is it?" Yun Jin asked.
Hua Cheng whistled in approval: "Very beautiful."
Upon hearing this, Yun Jin smiled faintly.
Hua Cheng looked into her eyes and suddenly remembered when they first met.
She was only nineteen years old at the time, having just come out of the mountains. She had no money in her pocket and was homeless with nowhere to go. But even in such a miserable state, her eyes remained bright and resolute, as if no difficulty could defeat her.
Eleven years have passed. They've been through thick and thin together, from nothing to something. His temperament has changed a lot, but her eyes have never changed.
"What are you looking at?" Yun Jin asked.
“Look at you,” Hua Cheng smiled, raising his hand to stroke her coat, “How can you be so obedient, even knowing to put on a coat.”
Yun Jin glanced at him but offered no explanation.
Because of traffic, it was an hour later when the two arrived at Feng's house. As soon as they got to the parking lot, Hua Cheng received a call from the overseas branch, so he had to hold an emergency online meeting in the car.
Yun Jin got out of the car alone and was about to find a staff member to lead the way when she saw a familiar figure ahead.
"Fatty," she called out.
Liu Zhuang turned around upon hearing the voice, and waved to her when he saw her: "You're here."
As he spoke, he glanced behind her.
"He's in a meeting in his car, and we don't know when it will end. Let's go over there first." Yun Jin stepped forward and, following social etiquette, took his arm. "Didn't you say you weren't coming?"
When he received the invitation, he said he couldn't come in front of a bunch of people.
Liu Zhuang sneered, "If there's a show to watch, why don't you come?"
