Chapter 81 Fried Rice Noodles
"Xiaoyu, we're having a big meal tonight," Tang Yiyi said with a smile.
"Yay!" The little brother smiled happily, revealing his two little tiger teeth, which was very cute.
Upon returning home, Tang Yiyi immediately began preparing the mutton.
Because she was making hot pot, she bought lamb with the skin on. She blanched the lamb in water, added oil, then ginger and several spices, stir-fried them together, and finally added an appropriate amount of water.
After simmering for a while, the lamb will visibly become tender. When it's done, sprinkle with garlic leaves and pour it into the hot pot broth to cook.
To make hot pot, Tang Yiyi bought some baby bok choy, radish, and glass noodles as side dishes.
At six o'clock, she pressed the hot pot switch.
The rich, pale yellow broth soaks up tempting chunks of lamb, their surface glistening with an alluring sheen. Wisps of white steam rise from the pot, filling the air with an irresistible aroma.
Xiaoyu took a deep sniff and thought it smelled wonderful.
Tang Yiyi brought over bowls and chopsticks. "Xiaoyu, go wash your hands. Time to eat."
"Uh-huh."
Xiao Yu sat down, and Tang Yiyi lifted the pot lid. Steam rushed out, and she used a soup spoon to stir the ingredients before adding the side dishes.
Then he picked up his chopsticks, glanced at Xiaoyu, and said, "You can eat now."
Xiaoyu has been eating and drinking well and resting well lately, and his face has become noticeably fairer and rounder, with a touch of handsomeness amidst his youthful appearance.
He picked up his chopsticks and reached for the radish inside.
The radish wasn't spicy at all, and it was very soft, smooth, and didn't have any strange taste that he disliked. It was delicious!
The lamb also has a layer of skin on the surface, which is very chewy, while the lean meat is firm and leaves a lingering aftertaste. Especially after being dipped in the broth, it's incredibly fragrant.
Xiaoyu clearly enjoyed the food, eating heartily with his mouth constantly moving.
After dinner, Xiaoyu helped clear the dishes as usual.
After washing the dishes, Tang Yiyi said to Xiaoyu, "Xiaoyu, shall we go for a walk?"
Upon hearing this, Xiaoyu quickly turned off the TV and ran over, "Sister, let's go!"
After meals, Tang Yiyi always walks around for a while to help digestion.
As dusk settles and the bright moon shines high in the sky.
Tang Yiyi and Xiaoyu were tall and short, one in front and the other behind.
On the way, a golden retriever came towards them, seemingly heading straight for them.
No, they're here for them!
Tang Yiyi lowered her eyes and looked at the huge creature at her feet, which was wagging its tail at her.
Xiaoyu was a little scared and hid behind her.
She crouched down and stroked the golden retriever; its fur was very soft and comfortable. "Where is your owner?"
The golden retriever stuck out its tongue and turned its head, as if it could understand what she was saying.
"Nuomi, come here," the man's deep voice rang out.
Tang Yiyi looked over and saw that the man under the streetlight was none other than Senior Ji Ze.
The golden retriever rushed towards its owner with a gentle and obedient posture, arching its massive body.
She blinked. "Senior, is this your dog?"
Jize led the golden retriever over on a leash. "Yes, it's three years and six months old."
"Oh no, is the senior hinting at something?" Tang Yiyi was slightly taken aback, wondering why he was saying this to her.
"Hello, brother," Xiao Yu said, stepping out from behind her to greet Jize.
Ji Ze: "Your younger brother is very cute."
Tang Yiyi suddenly felt that his eyes were very gentle, so she could only smile and say, "He is usually very sensible and often helps with chores."
"Shall we find a place to discuss the management simulation game in detail?" he asked.
"Can."
Xiaoyu is playing with a golden retriever named Nuomi, which means Xiaoyu has overcome his fear.
"Senior, how did you come up with the idea of making a management simulation game?" The two chatted for a long time, from the past to the present. Tang Yiyi felt that they hit it off and that they had met too late.
"It was probably a small shop near the university entrance when I was a student. It wasn't big, but the ingredients were clean and fresh, so customers felt very reassured."
Tang Yiyi remembered that shop, a dessert shop. Ji Ze knew about it because of the original owner's strong recommendation.
It seems that this store left a deep impression on Senior Ji Ze.
"That dessert shop was pretty good," Tang Yiyi commented. At the time, it was considered a dream shop by many college students.
Ji Ze suddenly said, "To be honest, it's quite a coincidence that the name of that store has the character '伊' in it."
When Tang Yiyi heard that Yi was still the same, she almost felt a chill run down her spine.
"The 'Yi' of 'Yi'," Ji Ze added, almost as if possessed.
Tang Yiyi's eyes darted away, unsure where to look. Could it be that Senior Ji Ze...?
She could only pretend to be clueless and chuckled, "What a coincidence, my name also has the character 'Yi' in it."
Then, somewhat flustered, he said, "Senior, it's getting late, we should head back now."
Seeing that he was about to get up, Tang Yiyi quickly said, "I've already hailed a car, no need to see me off."
To everyone's surprise, Ji Ze smiled and said, "See you next time."
"Okay, bye-bye, senior."
On the way back, Xiaoyu was clearly sleepy and leaned on her shoulder.
"Sister, that brother..."
Tang Yiyi heard half of it, but Xiao Yu stopped talking.
Looking down, I saw that Xiaoyu was asleep, and I could hear his soft breathing.
Why does that golden retriever named Nuomi look so familiar?
Before opening the door, Tang Yiyi patted her forehead.
The dog named Nuomi was clearly the same stray dog the original owner had seen. It had been born not long before, and no one was feeding it in the freezing cold. The original owner felt sorry for it and would secretly feed it every time after class.
Later, for some reason, the puppy disappeared from the campus, and the original owner became extremely anxious.
Until someone told her that someone had adopted the newborn puppy.
Now everything makes sense.
Tang Yiyi sat on the sofa and clicked on Ji Ze's profile picture.
This profile picture is clearly a photo of Nuomi.
It was tiny, with wet eyes looking at the camera, making it incredibly endearing.
Unexpectedly, it has grown into a behemoth in just a few years.
"Senior, can I see your dog?"
It wasn't until Tang Yiyi realized what had happened that the message had been sent.
Ji Ze replied quickly, "Okay, wait a moment."
Immediately afterwards, Tang Yiyi received a video. A large, shiny dog was lying at the man's feet with its body slightly arched. The man was stroking the dog, his fingers moving over it, showing an indescribable affection.
Tang Yiyi watched the video several times, a smile playing on her lips.
"Ahem, thank you, senior. Nuomi is very well-behaved." I never imagined that the poor little dog from back then would grow up so big.
"Do you really like dogs?" Jize asked.
Tang Yiyi: "I like dogs, but I probably wouldn't be very good at raising them."
The next second, Jize sent a picture of a golden retriever.
Tang Yiyi turned off her phone and didn't look at it anymore.
If we keep talking, I won't be able to sleep tonight.
The next day, Tang Yiyi unusually slept in late; she was woken up by her alarm clock.
Why did I have that dream last night?
Tang Yiyi took Xiaoyu to the market. On the way, Xiaoyu said, "It seems like my sister didn't get enough rest."
"Is it because of that older brother from last night?"
Tang Yiyi's eyes widened. "Xiaoyu, don't talk nonsense. I just haven't had enough rest."
Xiaoyu stopped talking, and it was unclear whether he believed her or not.
A stall selling various kinds of noodles caught her eye.
The rice noodles were really good; they were white and flawless, wide and flat, and had a faint aroma of rice.
Tang Yiyi selected some rice noodles, had the owner weigh and pack them, and then she paid.
She wanted to stir-fry the rice noodles with beef and kale, so Tang Yiyi bought some kale and fresh beef.
When they got back to the restaurant, it was a little past seven. Tang Yiyi had written today's menu, her handwriting with chalk was quite elegant.
When I came back after taking out the trash, I found that customers had come to the store.
"Boss, you're finally opening your shop and doing business today!" Wang Juan was almost crying with joy.
I came here yesterday and found it was closed. I looked at the notice on the door and found out that the owner was not open for business.
I came early today, and thankfully I didn't let her come up empty-handed.
"Boss, you don't know, I waited for a long time yesterday morning," Wang Juan finally perked up.
Tang Yiyi had a deep impression of her; she was a regular customer. "Are you here to buy tea eggs?"
Wang Juan thought for a moment, "I'll have one tea egg, and something else."
She'd had plenty of tea eggs and wanted to try something different.
Looking at the menu, the font size was just right. "Another order of stir-fried rice noodles, please."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
Tang Yiyi first served the guests tea eggs, packed them up, and handed them over.
Back in the kitchen, I turned on the stove and started cooking. I stir-fried the beef over high heat, sautéed the garlic and ginger until fragrant, and then added the kale.
Outside, Wang Juan took a picture and sent it to her husband; it was a picture of a tea egg.
Husband: Oh no, your tea eggs are making my mouth water!
The tea eggs smelled delicious. After peeling off the shells, Wang Juan couldn't bear to waste a single drop of the marinade on the egg whites.
Soon, Tang Yiyi brought over a plate of stir-fried rice noodles.
The rice noodles glistened with an enticing sheen, steaming hot, and their aroma wafted into the nose.
Wang Juan couldn't help but swallow, then picked up her chopsticks and started eating.
The rice noodles were very soft and smooth, and very chewy, not the kind that are limp and lifeless. As soon as Wang Juan put them in her mouth, she found them very fragrant. Her mouth was filled with a mixture of aromas, the fragrance of soy sauce and rice intertwined, making it irresistible.
I picked up another piece of beef; it was both crispy and tender—so delicious!
And this vegetable, isn't it called kale? Wang Juan only remembered later.
After being stir-fried, it becomes crisp and tender with no bitterness. It pairs well with beef, cuts through the greasiness, and has a very refreshing taste.
Wang Juan ate heartily, thoroughly enjoying herself, and felt incredibly happy.
Before leaving, Wang Juan packed two servings of stir-fried rice noodles to take with her.
I also complimented the owner on how nice and delicious the stir-fried rice noodles were.
Another wave of customers came to the shop; the little restaurant finally opened for business today.
Customers who had made a wasted trip yesterday rushed over to dine.
Some local residents rarely eat fried rice noodles, so they asked what's in it.
Tang Yiyi explained, "Stir-fried rice noodles are made by stir-frying rice noodles, beef, and kale together."
The restaurant was filled with an enticing aroma, attracting many passersby to come in.
One customer gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, give me a plate of stir-fried rice noodles, I'll eat at the restaurant."
To make delicious stir-fried rice noodles, the heat and cooking time are key. Delicious rice noodles won't be dry or greasy.
When Gu Jia arrived, the customers in the store were all having breakfast.
“They look like they’re eating rice noodles…” Su Yue said beside her.
Gu Jia was worried about having to wait in line, so she quickly went to order food.
I glanced at the menu and saw a stir-fried rice noodle dish. "Sister, two servings of stir-fried rice noodles, to go."
They're going to the library later, so they're packing up to take with them.
In the kitchen, Tang Yiyi was stir-frying rice noodles, and the sizzling sound constantly drew the attention of the customers.
