Chapter 104: Deep into the Underground Maze Giant Scorpion Fried Meat

Chapter 104: Deep into the Underground Maze Giant Scorpion Fried Meat

The supplies were very complete: lanterns, eternal cold light stones, compasses, some antidotes, strong ropes, hooks and so on.

"Don't forget to bring some dry food. There's nothing to eat down there." Ye Wan reminded.

"Oh, actually the giant scorpion stew there is quite delicious." The Great Witch said without hesitation.

"Giant scorpion?"

"And milk pudding made from slime gelatin."

Ye Wan hesitated for a moment: "I think I should prepare some high-energy compressed food."

She stuffed her bag with concentrated meat jerky, energy bars, and other things. Youan took out a thick woolen cloak and put it on her. "It must be very cold in that place. Wrap yourself in the cloak."

Little Youan sneezed nearby.

Ye Wan lowered his head and helped him button his shirt: "Don't catch a cold."

Little Youan looked at her with bright eyes and nodded vigorously.

Youan clenched his hands and coughed loudly. She turned her head and glared at him warningly: "Okay, we can go to the post office and see what the underground treasure vault looks like."

Entering the underground treasury requires the king's handwritten order. Obviously, the king who will be in a coma and waiting to die in two years will not hand over the handwritten order.

So they finally discussed it and decided to disguise themselves as ordinary people sending letters during the day and find an opportunity to sneak into the underground warehouse.

Stepping into the post office again, Ye Wan suddenly realized that the cheerful atmosphere here was gone. People had sad faces, and even the owls on the take-off stand were not as lively as before. The sorters mechanically sorted the letters and various packages into different categories.

“The atmosphere is so solemn…”

Ye Wan found the guide, who this time was a cold-looking white fox. "I remember the post office has a temporary storage service. I have a diamond bracelet that I need to store."

"Please give me the goods you've stored." The fox looked cold, but its attitude was quite friendly. After running the bracelet through the machine, it said, "I suggest you store the emeralds in the basement, where they're safe."

This bracelet was taken out from the palace. It was a gift from the Oasis Alliance. It was clean and transparent like blue-green lake water, and it looked very valuable at first glance.

Anyway, the three of them followed the white fox to the basement, and the white fox asked, "Do you need a warehouse to store your treasures? This service will be a bit expensive."

This was exactly what Ye Wan wanted: "I need it, I absolutely need it!"

Taking the elevator down to the basement, the white fox took out a complicated key from his arms and opened the door to the basement. While it was taking the diamond bracelet, Ye Wan and the two Youans put on masks and took out the mist flower from their bags.

It was a gift from the elves. The pollen spread in the flower could temporarily put people into a deep sleep.

The white fox was tricked and fell asleep immediately.

Ye Wan whispered an apology, then immediately carried his big bag and went deep into the underground warehouse with You An. The three of them walked along a narrow, downward-sloping stone staircase for a long time. The temperature was getting lower and lower. Ye Wan smelled a strong smell of dust. The only source of light was the ever-bright cold light stones in the hands of the three people.

"Why haven't we arrived yet? We've been walking for a long time." Little Youan complained.

His voice stopped abruptly. A huge abyss stood in front of them, blocking their way. Looking down, there was only endless darkness. Youan picked up a stone and threw it down, but there was no sound.

"How do we get through this?" Ye Wan asked.

He held up the Changming Stone and shone it forward. There was a long metal track, like a narrow, lonely bridge. Walking along the edge of the track, at the end was a rusty rail car. It had no roof but had seat belts. The car body had no power device, but had a handbrake lever.

You An asked Ye Wan to hold up the light and inspected the rail car in detail: "It has an ancient magical power protection system. It can be ridden."

He motioned for everyone to sit on it, and then began to pull the handbrake lever hard. It seemed that it had not been used for a long time, and the brake lever made a "clicking" sound.

What a teeth-grinding sound, Ye Wan thought.

Ye Wan checked the seat belts for himself and little Youan several times, but he was still worried. After all, the car looked extremely unreliable. When the handbrake lever was almost pulled to the end, Youan hurriedly jumped into the car and fastened his own seat belt.

The car began to slide slowly on the track, and then there was a huge sound of a mechanism snap, and the rail car was ejected like a rocket, and then accelerated forward along the track.

Muffin had been fast asleep in Ye Wan's pocket. He woke up when he heard the noise and poked his head out to look. He screamed like a groundhog, so Ye Wan quickly stuffed his head back in: "Don't look."

She thought that the rail car would at least pass smoothly, but she didn't expect that the track was not a smooth straight line, but was full of sharp turns, steep climbs and dives. Ye Wan heard the harsh sound of the car rubbing against the metal, as if the car would fall apart soon.

When it was almost at the end, Youan gripped the brake lever again and yelled, "Hold on tight!" The rail car suddenly made a huge turn and finally stopped on a simple platform.

Ye Wan felt her stomach churning and she staggered out of the car.

The muffin jumped out of her pocket and jumped onto the ground. It floated on the ground for a while as if it was drunk, and then fell down like a fallen sack.

"Muffin!" Ye Wan exclaimed and looked at it. Muffin was blowing out many bubbles from its nose and looked like it had fainted from fright. Ye Wan quickly took out a cooling potion from his pocket and stuffed it into its mouth.

"Let's take a break before we go." Ye Wan suggested.

They had reached a deep underground cave, where the smell of mineral dust was much stronger.

"We're already here. Do you think people from the post office or the palace will come to arrest us?" Ye Wan asked as he filled his stomach with a pancake.

"It looks like he won't dare to come." Youan said.

"Why?"

A strong smell of shells filled the air; some monster had crushed some pebbles.

The three men stood up instantly, and Youan suddenly turned the lantern towards the source of the sound.

The light flashed by, and a giant scorpion waved its pincers towards this side.

Its size was beyond imagination, almost as big as a small carriage, and its body was covered with a thick, shiny black shell. The most frightening thing was its high-raised, segmented tail, which ended in a huge stinger. Just looking at it, Ye Wan felt as if his blood was frozen.

She remembered the Great Witch's words: "Giant scorpions can be used to make soup."

This thing can be used to make soup???

It rushed towards Ye Wan, and Youan drew his sword.

In less than five minutes, the giant scorpion fell into the cave, and Youan sat aside to wipe the blue blood off the sword.

Little Youan's eyes finally lit up when he looked at him: "I didn't realize you were quite capable."

Just now, Youan accurately inserted the sword into the vulnerable part of the giant scorpion's abdomen, and dark blue blood spurted out.

Youan paused while polishing his sword and said, "If you're not so averse to sword fighting lessons, you can do the same in the future."

Little Youan's face flushed red: "How do you know I reject swordsmanship lessons?"

Ye Wanzheng walked around the scorpion several times. Her eyes were no longer filled with fear when facing a monster, but instead exuded an extremely focused look like a professional chef examining ingredients.

She first carefully touched the scorpion's shiny black shell with her fingers, then leaned in to smell it, and there seemed to be no special smell.

Then Ye Wan took out a knife from his bag and slowly peeled open the scorpion shell like peeling a crab shell.

"What are you doing?" Little Youan's face showed a rare look of fear.

Ye Wan's eyes lit up, and he was as excited as if he had discovered a treasure: "It's obvious that I'm processing the ingredients."

"Wha...what?!" Little Youan was stunned, almost thinking he had misheard. This monster had just wanted to eat them, and now they wanted to eat this scorpion.

"What are you standing there for? Come and help me."

She began giving orders, fully entering chef mode. "Your Highness, please light a big fire! And don't be idle either. See if you can cut through the soft shell at the joint. The meat inside should be the most tender. Remember the king crab we ate at the beach this summer? It might not be as tender as that."

Seeing her sudden burst of enthusiasm and professionalism, Little Youan and Big Youan exchanged bewilderment, ultimately choosing to trust her. Little Youan obediently went to gather some dry roots from nearby shrubs to start a fire. Big Youan, drawing his sword, with much effort, finally pried open the hardened shell at several joints, revealing the snow-white, firm scorpion flesh beneath.

Ye Wan was busy setting up a wok, heating the wok and adding cold oil. When the ginger slices were sautéed, he poured the snow-white scorpion meat into the wok and stir-fried it, adding some freshly picked onion-like ferns. The scorpion meat was a bit like squid, and when it was heated, it immediately became firm and elastic, making an enticing "sizzling" sound.

At this time, scoop a spoonful of oyster sauce and pour it in. The salty and fresh taste of soy sauce mixed with the sweetness of oyster juice will immediately penetrate into the mouth.

"What a nice smell!" Little Youan couldn't help but sniff. It was a scent he had never smelled before, like the freshness of the ocean.

In order to prevent the pan from getting sticky, you need to keep stirring the spoon to coat each piece of scorpion meat with sauce. Finally, sprinkle some chopped green onions.

The scorpion broth is slow-cooked in a clay pot. The scorpions are blanched and then thrown into the pot with ginger slices and scallions. Simmer until the soup turns milky white with a slightly gelatinous texture. At this point, sprinkle some salt and white pepper.

Little Youan likes to eat this fried scorpion meat very much. With every bite, the fresh oyster sauce juice comes out, and the scorpion meat is firm and sweet; the soup is also very mellow and delicious.

"I can't believe I can eat such delicious food in a place like this." He said cheerfully.

You An was looking at the underground map, and Ye Wan asked, "Where are we now?"

"It's still early." He put away the map and continued eating. "This scorpion meat is good. I just fought a monster, but I feel like the strength in my body has increased instead of decreased."

"There are such benefits, so you should eat more." She picked up some food for Youan.

Soon the delicious meal was finished, and Youan looked at his pocket watch: "It's late at night."

"Have we been walking for so long?" Ye Wan was surprised.

"It's quite deep down here." He poked the fire. "We'll take turns on duty. I'll go first. You guys go to sleep."

Little Youan quickly squeezed next to Ye Wan: "Sister Alice, I'm cold."

"Then let's huddle together and keep warm."

Youan sat on the other side of her and squeezed her with his shoulder.

"What?"

"I'm cold." He said confidently.
