Chapter 2: Market Shopping Welcome to Cinderella Market...

Chapter 2: Market Shopping Welcome to Cinderella Market...

After Ye Wan finished speaking, he was about to leave, but his eyes were suddenly drawn to the upper right corner, where there was a map engraved on parchment. Although the map was very old and stained with some sticky substance similar to pink bubble gum, it looked a bit disgusting.

But it was indeed a map, which was what Ye Wan needed most at the moment.

"Auntie, how much is that?"

The lady wrapped in black veil was angry for some reason, and her voice was filled with anger as she answered: "Ten silver coins."

It was so expensive, Ye Wan was reluctant to give up this urgent need, but also reluctant to spend the money: "How about 5?"

"no."

Ye Wan had no other choice but to start talking nonsense: "Auntie, although you are covered in black gauze, I can still vaguely see your stunning beauty through the gauze."

The lady's mood seemed to have eased.

"Just sell me five."

With a map, Ye Wan easily arrived at the red telephone booth Dorothy mentioned. There was a fruit shop and bakery nearby, but he couldn't find the entrance to the underground tunnel.

An old lady came over and asked: "What's wrong, dear? Are you lost?"

Ye Wan nodded embarrassedly: "Excuse me, I want to go to Cinderella Plaza, how should I get there?"

The old lady pointed to the phone booth and said, "Line 3, just press 3 when you get in."

The kind old lady pointed at the map in Ye Wan's hand and said, "This map is too dirty. Why don't you go to the Adventurer's Guild across the square to get a new one?"

Ye Wan had a bad feeling in his heart: "Get a new one? Can I get a new one? How much does it cost?"

"It's for adventurers and tourists from all over the world. It's right next to the front desk. It's free."

My 5 silver coins...Ye Wan was very sad.

But she still politely thanked the old lady, entered the phone booth, put in two copper coins according to the instructions on the map, and then pressed 3.

The phone booth remained motionless, and Ye Wan began to consider the possibility of a phone booth scam.

Unexpectedly, the phone booth began to descend rapidly, just like an elevator. Ye Wan hurriedly grabbed the handrail. She took a last quick look at the scenery outside through the glass of the phone booth, and then quickly descended.

Before she could get dizzy, a platform appeared in front of Ye Wan.

This platform is full of old London style, with red bricks all around, a low roof, dim lights, and fog all around.

"This is so cool!" Ye Wan exclaimed in surprise. A train roared towards her, and she quickly got on.

The doors of this train were made of chocolate bars, and the seats resembled white marshmallows, also emitting bursts of sweet fragrance. Ye Wan swallowed his saliva.

"Don't try to eat any of the candy and chocolate during this special period, or you'll be taken to the Tooth Fairy for a lecture."

The person who spoke was a salesman who was pushing a food cart and selling things. He had blond hair and when he smiled he showed eight standard white teeth.

Ye Wan noticed that the name Jack was written on the name card in front of him.

"What a beautiful girl! Look at your silky black hair. You must be from the distant Shangdu." Jack pushed the food cart and stopped in front of Ye Wan.

Ye Wan didn't know where Shangdu was.

"Today's Aladdin's Lamp Latte is perfect for you. Would you like one? It only costs 20 copper coins."

Ye Wan didn't know why Aladdin's Latte was so suitable for her, but she was determined not to spend 20 copper coins on a cup of coffee on the train.

Jack was not angry when he was rejected. He just shrugged and went on to sell to others.

An old man in a striped three-piece suit bought a cup. He took a sip, and a little genie emerged from the cup: "Master, I can fulfill your wish."

Ye Wan was startled and jumped up from her seat. Jack asked, "What's wrong, girl?

"Can I make a wish to the genie?" Ye Wan asked, with some fanaticism in her eyes.

"Of course!" Jack replied.

She quickly pulled out 20 copper coins from her wallet, and Jack handed her a latte shaped like a magic lamp. "Thank you for your patronage."

Ye Wan took it excitedly and rubbed his hand on the cup. A little lamp spirit emerged from the cup: "Do you have any wishes, Master?"

"Please send me back to my world."

The lamp spirit did not move.

Ye Wan didn't give up and repeated it again.

The lamp spirit remained motionless.

Jack glanced at Ye Wan, who was full of disappointment:

"You can't make weird wishes. Wishes are limited to buy one get one free, second cup half price, etc., and there's only a chance they'll come true."

Ye Wan felt sad that you hadn't told me earlier. She unscrewed the lid of the magic lamp and took a sip of the latte. It tasted okay, similar to Nestle's instant velvet dark chocolate latte, with the aroma of dark chocolate and rich milk flavor, but the milk foam was not dense enough.

"Magic lamp, can I get a half-price discount on the second cup?" Ye Wan asked, picking the smallest wish.

"The wish failed." The lamp spirit said, flashed, and then disappeared.

Jack shrugged. "Unfortunately, I didn't win."

Ye Wan sighed.

A female voice with a metallic accent rang out: "Cinderella Plaza has arrived."

Ye Wan stood up, threw the magic lamp cup into the trash can, and then got off the bus.

Cinderella Plaza is a large circular plaza with several prosperous shopping streets extending outward. A limited-time market is being held in the center of the square. There are many people and stalls. Ye Wan saw people of different skin colors bargaining.

This market is a bit like the Christmas market in Dresden, with a pink carousel at the door, the air is mixed with the aroma of roasted nuts and mulled wine, and fireworks explode in the sky from time to time.

Ye Wan walked on the street, with colorful lights flickering on both sides. An old man in a leather apron was baking bread in a stone kiln, a wine girl was selling amber honey wine, and there was also a witch who was fortune-telling.

Ye Wan stopped in front of a broom shop. The brooms looked very delicate, and the bristles underneath were light and dusty, so they should be very suitable for cleaning.

The shopkeeper was a blonde girl with blue eyes, a slightly plump figure, and some freckles on her face, which made her look very friendly. Ye Wan asked her, "Excuse me, how much is this broom?"

The blonde looked enthusiastic. "Only 20 gold coins."

Ye Wan couldn't believe his ears: "How much?"

The blonde girl took the broom and showed it to her. "This is the official broom of the Witch Guild. The wooden handle is made of metal and painted with a paint that imitates wood grain. It will be more sturdy and will not break no matter how hard you drop it."

The blonde girl sat on the broom as she spoke, and in a split second, the broom carried her away like a rocket, leaving behind a lot of white smoke.

It turns out to be a broom used as a means of transportation. I thought it was a cleaning tool for sweeping the floor. Thinking so, Ye Wan waited for the blonde girl for a long time. Seeing that she didn't come back, he had to leave first.

Ye Wan walked past the silver-blue fountain in the central square, passed a few students wearing wizard hats, and finally stopped in front of a seasoning shop. It seemed that there were all kinds of seasonings here, whether it was soy sauce and vinegar from the East or garlic powder, parsley, and thyme from the West.

The stall owner was very proud: "This is all soy sauce. They are all shipped from Shangdu in the east. There is not much in stock, so buy it as soon as possible."

She was haggling with the stall owner when the blonde finally came back on her broom, flying and screaming, "Please move aside! I can't stop aa ...

All the stall owners hurriedly moved their stalls away, but Ye Wan, who was bargaining, was unable to avoid it and bumped into the blonde girl. The two of them tangled together and rolled several times before the broom finally stopped.

"It hurts so much..." Ye Wan struggled to stand up and brushed off the dust on his body.

The blonde apologized profusely.

Ye Wan wasn't seriously injured, just some dust on his pants, so he just said it was okay.

A loud laugh came from the corner of the room. Ye Wan looked in the direction of the sound and saw a little orange guinea pig in the cage laughing so hard that it fell backwards. Ye Wan removed the leaves stuck on its head and stared at it closely.

The little guinea pig immediately stopped laughing and looked at her nervously.

The pet vendor took the opportunity to promote his pets: "Snowy owls and black cats are all the rage right now. Guinea pigs are on sale! Only 50 copper coins each, and they come with a bag of alfalfa."

The guinea pig's fur was a mixture of orange and milky white, like a ball of fluffy marshmallow. Its eyes were round and sparkling as it looked at Ye Wan. It also had a pair of big ears, with a small hole in its left ear.

"No... no thanks." Ye Wan couldn't even raise a guinea pig herself, so how could she raise one? She politely declined the stall owner and turned away.

The guinea pig scratched the cage with its paws and watched her walk away in disappointment.

Ye Wan quickly bought a full set of cleaning tools, bought a bucket of milk and some raspberries at a family farm stall, and bought some meat at a butcher stall.

All these things were easily stuffed into Ye Wan's small wallet, and it was not heavy to carry. However, when she accidentally dropped the wallet on the ground, the bag made a loud noise.

She picked up the wallet with a blushing face.

Before I knew it, it was dusk, and the sky over the royal capital melted into sweet orange juice with pulpy fruit.

The market was packed with people, and many vendors were pushing their covered carts, their wheels creaking as they rolled over the cracks in the stone slabs. Many families came to the market to browse, shop, and have dinner, and children were pestering the clowns in their bizarre costumes, trying to grab the colorful balloons in their hands.

Ye Wan walked among them and suddenly felt a little lonely.

She was a little homesick. If she went home at this time, the local weather forecast would already be broadcasting on TV, and her parents would have prepared a table of home-cooked meals for her to have dinner when she got home.

Ye Wan felt her eyes and nose tingling. She ran to find the pet vendor.

Ye Wan had to admit that her heart melted when the little guinea pig looked at her with its big moist eyes across the cage.

The stall owner was already packing up his stall. When he heard her intention, he said, "That guinea pig was bought by someone dressed as a witch."

Ye Wan was very disappointed and a little sad.

"But I know her. She often hides in the purple tent in the corner to tell fortunes. If you really like her, you can stay there for a few days. Maybe she is willing to give up the stall to you." The stall owner was a middle-aged man. Seeing the girl's lost face, he felt a little uncomfortable and said quickly.

"Thank you." Ye Wan thanked her solemnly: "I will talk to her."

It was getting dark, and Ye Wan returned home the same way he came.

Even Barbara in the picture frame went out for a trip with her suitcase. Ye Wan took the newly bought cleaning tools and cleaned the kitchen first.

After all, the sink and kitchenware were brand new, so she didn't need to spend much effort on them.

All kinds of seasonings are also arranged, fruits are placed in the fruit basket, and vegetables are placed in the vegetable basket.

Ye Wan glanced at the toast in his hand.

She noticed at the market today that most people were selling raw agricultural and sideline products, and there were no meals like sandwiches that could be eaten immediately. As a result, many stall owners helped each other to look after their stalls and then went to the shopping street to eat.

If she sold sandwiches at the market, maybe she would get some business. Besides, Ye Wan also wanted to try out the food she cooked to see if it would suit the tastes of the people of Osenna.

The toast was ready, and she frying it in butter, its rich aroma filling the air. When the toast was crispy, she turned off the heat and stir-fried the smoked bacon and mushrooms, seasoning with salt and black pepper. She cracked an egg into the bell pepper rings, frying it until the yolk in the middle was runny and perfect.

Ye Wan placed the toast on the table, topped it with bacon, mushrooms, and bell pepper rings, then placed the egg on top and covered it with another slice of toast, cut diagonally. This wasn't the end of the process; the bacon, mushroom, and bell pepper egg sandwich needed to be placed in the oven for a dozen seconds to allow the cheese to fully melt.

Ye Wan was busy all afternoon and hadn't eaten. He squatted on a small stool and finished his sandwich in one go.

The toast is crispy and you can hear a "crunch" sound when you bite it. The aroma of wheat and butter penetrates your nose. The egg yolk inside remains runny, flowing like smooth lava, wrapping the sweet bell peppers and shiitake mushrooms in it. The melted and stringy milky cheese is a perfect match with the smoked bacon. The fried fat also mixes well with the crisp bell peppers and is not greasy at all.

Ye Wan ate the food in big mouthfuls, his mouth bulging like a squirrel's.

I have three major plans for tomorrow. The first is to sell sandwiches, the second is to promote my own restaurant, and the last one is to buy back the guinea pig.

She swallowed the last bite of toast, patted her palms, and then went upstairs to bed with a satisfied heart.
