Chapter 28: Enemy Attacks Kiara's Sad Past
When a chameleon covered in angry red peeked out from the entrance of the shopping street, Youan knew that the enemy would be arriving soon.
The residents of the shopping street were fully prepared, especially the mealworm man, who had been picking spicy rock fruits all night and cooking a large iron pot full of spicy red chili sauce.
When the first batch of ugly frogs croaked and ran to the entrance of the shopping street, the pot of hot sauce was poured right on their heads.
"Quack, quack, it's so spicy!" The frogs were so spicy that they ran around in all directions and then fled without looking back. The chameleon trembled in his voice but failed to call them back. He could only glare at the residents fiercely: "Just wait!"
The residents burst into laughter and warm applause that echoed in the alley.
The second wave of stuffed bears was also driven away effortlessly.
All that's left are the legendary evil-looking doll and the robot with lasers shooting out of its chest.
But no one in the shopping street was panicking. Many warriors were still in the shopping street, especially Kiara. She was a very kind person and said that any warrior who helped would get a share of the thirty monsters she hunted.
After all, she didn't come to the dungeon for monsters.
Except for the "Lion" Berlin who felt that he was being ridiculed, the other warriors thought this was a good deal and immediately agreed to help them protect this small shopping street.
So when the tall robot with red eyes and the doll really arrived with a bunch of off-line stuffed bears, the warriors each took up their weapons and clamored to fight forward.
"Lion" Berlin held his breath, determined to kill the robot before Kiara, so he was the first to rush up with a big axe.
"Charge!" He roared and ran forward, but someone unexpectedly grabbed his cloak and he fell face down on the ground.
"Who is it?" He wiped the mud off his face angrily, turned around and saw Kiara tugging at his cloak, and became even angrier: "Are you looking for trouble?"
The latter didn't want to pay any attention to him. She just looked at the robot with red eyes in confusion, revealing a rare fragile expression, and even her lips trembled: "Big iron block?"
The robot opposite ignored her.
Kiara Duncan, from a small town on the northern border.
The town is not big and the environment is harsh, with yellow sand everywhere. Little Kiara lost her mother when she was just born, and her father, as an adventurer, rarely came home.
She lived alone, looking out the window at the rolling yellow sand outside every day. She was taken care of by some neighbors from time to time and grew up tenaciously.
When I was five years old, my adventurer father came home for a rare visit. He secretly brought back a giant robot from another world and said, "This is the control area. You can make requests to the robot. It will take care of your daily life from now on."
Kiara typed a few requests into the console: "Gentle, tough, tolerant, loving."
It was the mother she dreamed of.
A blue light emanated from the robot's chest: "Infant life signs detected, Guardian No. 1 activated."
So the robot was activated and named Big Iron Block. From then on, it became both father and mother to Kiara. Her real father left a large sum of money and went to another world, never to return.
Big Iron was very kind to her and made delicious food for her in different ways every day.
On a sunny summer day, the big iron block wore a sun hat and happily planted a lot of trees outside her house. Her face made of iron sheets was tanned by the sun like a fried egg. Passersby would whisper to each other for a long time when passing by her house, as if they were saying that this robot was crazy.
But when the tree grew up, the surging yellow sand could no longer disturb Kiara's house.
The only drawback is that Big Iron likes to nag. When Kiara is lying on the sofa watching TV, it will run over to adjust her posture to prevent her from leaning. It also controls the time she watches TV, saying that TV will hurt her eyes.
Kiara was a little impatient.
At the age of 10, Kiara entered the only local church school. She was tall and strong, in stark contrast to other thin and small children.
No one wants to play with her.
"That strange Duncan can pull a cow by himself."
"I heard that she has no parents and only has a strange tin figure at home."
"Huh... sounds like a monster."
Kiara heard it.
"Don't say that the big piece of iron is a monster." Kiara was very angry. She was indeed gifted and as strong as an ox. She overturned her classmate's desk with one hand.
The thin classmates were scared and ran around.
Big Iron didn't even have time to change his apron and hurried to the church school to pick her up. Kiara cried out "wow" and ran over to hug his waist.
"You can't do that. Your friends will be scared." The big iron block said after comforting her.
"None of them are my friends. My only friend is the big piece of iron," said Kiara.
In the end, she received the strawberry cake made by Big Iron Block with tears in her eyes, and Big Iron Block sang Happy Birthday to her.
The North is a remote place, the strawberries are small and sour, and sugar is expensive. Kiara gritted her teeth and ate them, saying, "Delicious."
She pushed the cake to the big iron block and said, "Try it too."
It spread the cream on the corners of its mouth and imitated the human mouth by pulling up the corners, like a vivid smile.
When Kiara grew up, she took the big piece of iron and took a green train to leave the borderland full of yellow sand and their warm little house where they planted green trees and strawberries.
She was already a famous warrior, who could carry a hundred-pound iron sword with one hand and kill a troll in an instant. All major associations extended olive branches to her.
The royal capital of Calmet was extremely prosperous. She was welcomed into the elaborate castle as a guest of honor by the Count. The Count personally toasted her and asked her to take care of his son as he entered the dungeon.
She was dazzled by the box full of jewels and gold and agreed immediately.
The big iron block was worried: "It is said that the underground city is very dangerous."
Kiara confidently put an emerald necklace around its neck and said, "Don't worry. The North is more dangerous. I've dealt with many monsters that sneaked in from the other side. Don't worry."
Wealth and status are right before her eyes. Kiara Duncan is about to become the most famous warrior in the capital. When the news is passed back to the North through newspapers, those classmates who spoke ill of her will definitely regret it.
She thought.
She went to the dungeon once a year. Trolls, the Minotaur, and all the A-level monsters fell under her sword. Reporters from various newspapers rushed to interview her. Nobles lined up in front of her house with large sums of money. Her classmates from her hometown sent various letters to her by owl, expressing their warm greetings and admiration for her.
Everything was going as Kiara expected.
There was only a big piece of iron, which was obviously worried, but it could not stop the ambition of a warrior.
But what does the saying go, "Every gift from fate has a price tag on it."
After entering the dungeon for the tenth time, she met the evil, snake-like Melusin, who was born in a forbidden marriage.
It had the stunning beauty of a daffodil, elf wings, tempted Kiara forward, and then revealed its double-tailed snake body and sharp fangs.
When Kiara reluctantly swung her sword, Melusin decided to drag her down to hell with her, and the entire negative 24th floor collapsed under its curse.
The big iron block's robotic arm held Kiara tightly. In the process of entering the dungeon again and again, it had already planned the escape route from the dungeon in its mind.
However, Kiara's leg was bitten by Melusin, and the venom surged up rapidly, and she no longer had the strength to escape.
"I'm sorry." This was the only useless thing she could say.
The big iron block's other mechanical arm cleared the fallen debris from her head, and then said softly and soothingly, "We will definitely get out. Keep moving at this pace."
Countless rocks fell from the cave ceiling and smashed into the giant iron block, making holes in its head and body. It seemed as if these rocks were determined to pile up the twenty-four underground floors into a cemetery.
Kiara's mind began to become confused. Melusin's venom was deadly, but before, it could cause hallucinations and bring people into the best time of their lives. This is why many warriors who died at Melusin's hands had strange smiles on their faces in the end.
Kiara's mind began to flash forward through the pages of her life, with scenes of a large iron block carrying her on its shoulders and running through the woods in front of her home. It turned out that this was the happiest time of her life, not standing on the podium of the city hall or on the jeweled chair of the Earl's Castle.
Kiara regretted it very much.
Finally, when they were about to escape from the 24th floor, a huge rock rolled down from the ceiling and hit them.
Before the big iron block hit her, it pushed her out with force.
She was caught steadily by two nurses from the Healer Alliance. At the end of her memory, she only remembered the nurses screaming as they searched for snake venom serum in the medical box, and the sight of a large iron block being buried by a stone.
Kiara Duncan lost a leg, along with all her reputation and status.
The Mercenary Association no longer wanted a cripple, and the nobles went looking for new warriors to take their disappointing children into the dungeon to seek glory. There were no more letters from home.
Kiara lost everything.
But she only cares about the big piece of iron she lost, which was her mother, best friend and life mentor.
Everyone was telling her that the twenty-fourth floor was filled to the brim with collapsed rocks and was sealed off.
But the following year, when Kiara dragged her prosthetic limbs into the dungeon again, she went straight to the negative twenty-fourth floor and dug through the rubble bit by bit. She dug for three days and three nights, blood oozing from her fingers, but she still couldn't find the big iron block, or any fragments of it.
She even went to the Misty Sea. It was rumored that the deep-sea sirens could fulfill people's wishes as long as they could exchange them for the most precious things.
The deep-sea banshee fell in love with Kiara's left eye, an eye as clear and beautiful as a sapphire, full of courage and sadness.
Kiara nodded and said yes.
A few kind-hearted mermaids passing by exposed the Siren's tricks: "She is a liar and has no power to grant wishes."
The story of "The Mermaid" is fake. Mermaids cannot fall in love with humans, and the deep-sea siren cannot fulfill wishes. She is just using the story to deceive people.
Kiara was very disappointed, but she still covered her left eye. In case someone was kind enough to take her eye away, she could adapt to living with one eye in advance.
Now her wish has come true. The big iron block is standing opposite her, and the pair of electronic screen eyes that always show two smiling arcs are now emitting a gloomy red light.
It's like I don't know her anymore and I don't love her anymore.
