Chapter 18 The Generals Who Were So Tempted

Chapter 18 The Generals Who Were So Tempted

"Yes, General, Lieutenant Zhang is right. Are you mistaken? Or did you hear wrong?"

"Yes, yes, yes, people from later generations? Or even a thousand years from now? That's too far-fetched."

"But if that's true, with such high yields of grain, we wouldn't have to worry about it anymore!"

The generals echoed each other, saying they didn't believe it, but in their hearts they already believed it.

Seeing their constantly changing expressions, Guo Xin understood their concerns. He smiled, looked at the few people inside the tent who had received rewards, and said with a determined expression:

"Don't worry, it's absolutely true. Would I joke about something like this? And these things on the table, didn't you see them? These are things we don't have here!"

Upon hearing this, everyone present turned their gaze to the table.

When they came in, they certainly saw them, but they thought they were some novelties that the general had collected from somewhere. They never expected that these items were actually from the future.

"General, is this what we've seen since then? What is this? And what's that over there? They all look so strange!"

Deputy General Zhang glanced at it for a moment, picked up the potato on the table, examined it carefully for a while, but still couldn't figure out what it was.

This yellowish, oval-shaped thing, if he guessed correctly, should be one of the three high-yield grains the general had just mentioned.

As soon as he finished speaking, the other generals in the tent all gathered around.

After examining the items in his hands, he turned his gaze to the other items on the table, his eyes filled with curiosity and confusion.

These were indeed things they had never seen before, and they all looked strange, as were the brightly colored boxes, with no idea what was inside.

Seeing their current expressions, Guo Xin couldn't help but feel a surge of amusement. He had been just as shocked. He then picked up a sweet potato from the table and said to everyone:

"What I have in my hand is the grain I just told you about, which can yield up to a thousand catties per mu (unit of land area), called sweet potato."

In Deputy General Zhang's hands were potatoes, and in another bag was corn. These bags contained what would later become the finest grains; according to Miss Gu, they were called hybrid rice.

The yield can reach around 2000 jin per mu, but it cannot be used for seed saving. However, the soil here is barren, so the yield may not be as high.

But Miss Gu still has fertilizers and methods to fertilize the land, so I believe the yield will be quite high, at least more than what we have now.

And these are instant noodles, and these individual sausages, or you could say meat sausages. They taste delicious. There are a few packs left; you can try some.

After Guo Xin finished speaking, he looked at the five rough men in front of him, then at the three remaining buckets of instant noodles on the table. After thinking for a moment, he asked someone to bring in a large bowl.

After all, there's only so much instant noodles, and it's definitely not enough for all of them. It's impossible for them to be full, but it's still okay for everyone to have a taste.

If they like to eat it, then let them go to Miss Gu to buy it themselves.

After all, he bought these with his jade pendant. If it weren't for wanting them to try them, he would definitely have hidden them away.

Now that he's given them some, he can only wait until Miss Gu's shop opens later to buy some more.

Guo Xin's series of actions made the generals, who were initially shocked by the high grain yield, curious about what their general was doing.

But the moment Guo Xin lifted the lid of the instant noodle container, the others finally saw what was inside: it was noodles.

It looked quite delicious, and the group couldn't help but look at each other, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Before she could ask, Guo Xin had already opened a small packet from the bucket and poured it into the instant noodles.

Then he poured in more hot water until he had filled a large bowl, then stopped and covered it with a wooden board.

"General, what are you doing? Aren't these flatbreads meant to be eaten directly? Why are you soaking them in hot water?" Deputy General Zhang couldn't help but ask.

Hearing this, Guo Xin glanced at the group of men, who were all looking at him with gossipy expressions, and then explained with a smile:

"This is instant noodles, so it's definitely meant to be soaked in water. But Miss Gu said it's okay to eat it dry too, but it's even more delicious when soaked. Just wait a little while, and then the five of you can share it."

Guo Xin's words made the five grown men look forward to it.

As time went by, a rich fragrance filled the entire tent, a powerful scent they had never smelled before.

"It smells so good! General, can we eat this?" Deputy General Zhang couldn't help but swallow hard; the aroma was simply too tempting.

"Yes, yes, General, is this instant noodle ready to eat? The smell is making me hungry!"

"Hey! You know what, I didn't dare eat my fill at lunch. I was fine at first, but now that I smell this, my stomach is rumbling!"

Several generals were talking at once. When Deputy General Zhang heard this, he thought for a moment, winked at Guo Xin, and said:

"The food in the camp is almost gone, so there's no way we can eat as much as we want. It's good enough if everyone gets a little bit!"

"Oh dear, now that Miss Gu has arrived, we have hope! Maybe we'll be able to have a good meal tonight, General, don't you think?"

"Look at you all, I just asked Miss Gu to use this fresh grain to give the soldiers in the camp an extra meal tonight."

However, if you wish to eat anything else, you will have to buy it from Miss Gu yourself. I have only bought enough food for tonight.

After Guo Xin finished speaking, she glanced at him with amusement, and seeing that it was almost time, she lifted the wooden board covering the large bowl.

Instantly, a wave of heat swept in, filling the entire tent with a domineering and rich aroma that made everyone present drool, their eyes following Guo Xin's every move.

Under the watchful eyes of the others, Guo Xin picked up the chopsticks placed to the side and gently stirred the instant noodles in the large bowl until the three noodle cakes were broken up.

"Alright, you five can share this! I've already eaten, this bowl is all yours, try some first."

Miss Gu said this stuff keeps well, so we can buy more so we can have a hot bowl of noodles whenever we're traveling!

After Guo Xin finished speaking, he put down his chopsticks. Although he was also hungry, he had just eaten several buckets and was not very hungry yet.
