Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Being woken up by the vibrating ringtone of a mobile phone is not a pleasant experience, especially during an already short lunch break.

The buzzing sound continued incessantly. Zhang Jusong, too lazy to open his eyes, reached for the phone beside his pillow in a daze.

"Hello?"

"Is this Zhang Jusong? This is XX Hospital. Do you know Xia Zhiheng?"

She woke up from her sleepiness. She sat up straight and asked, "Where...where are you from?"

Without even having time to change her clothes, she was still wearing her wrinkled white cotton nightgown. She grabbed her schoolbag and hurried out the door.

After taking two steps, he suddenly remembered that he needed to bring his wallet, so he quickly turned back, took his wallet out from the desk, and hurried out.

No matter what time it was, the hospital was always crowded with people, cars jammed outside the door, people jammed inside. After finally squeezing through the crowd of people registering, Zhang Jusong, with messy hair draped over his shoulders, rushed through the hospital lobby.

The inpatient department is on the eleventh floor, but the elevators were very busy. After three minutes, not a single elevator went down to the first floor.

Zhang Jusong checked the time on his phone, then looked at the floor display on the elevator, gritted his teeth, and climbed directly up the stairs.

When I arrived, I was sweating all over.

Fortunately, this was a hospital, and the doctors and nurses were well-informed, so they didn't think there was anything wrong with her appearance. A nurse was about to change shifts, so she kindly led her to the door of the ward: "It's right here."

In the triple room, the innermost light blue curtain was opened, and Xia Zhiheng was lying on the bed.

He looked at her sideways, aggrieved like a child: "Sister, you are here."

Zhang Jusong leaned on the bed with one hand and looked at him again and again: "What are you doing..."

The nurse laughed and said, "It's something I ate. I'm allergic to alcohol and seafood at the same time, so the attack is quite severe. Hey, little handsome boy, don't you know that you are allergic to these two things? It's a good thing you came in time, otherwise it would be no joke if the attack happened."

Xia Zhiheng lowered his eyes and said helplessly: "I can't help it. I don't want to do it either."

"Are you going to a party to drink?" The nurse said as she checked the flow rate of the infusion bottle. "Don't be shy. An allergy is an allergy. Tell them clearly. If that doesn't work, bring the allergy report with you next time you go to a social gathering. I'm really fed up with people who urge me to drink."

"The doctor has taken care of it, and the condition is much more stable now." The nurse said to Zhang Jusong, "Remember to ring the bell when you need to change the dressing. Okay, have a good rest."

The light blue curtain was closed, creating a small partition in the space, but the sound continued, buzzing.

Zhang Jusong held the hem of her nightgown and sat down on the plastic stool, her eyes full of worry: "Are you still feeling uncomfortable?"

Xia Zhiheng didn't say anything, just nodded, looking pitiful.

"No drinking and no seafood next time." Zhang Jusong sighed and asked, "Are you thirsty? It seems that intravenous drips can easily make people thirsty. Let me buy you a bottle of water. And some watermelon?"

Having said that, she stood up.

"Wait." Xia Zhiheng struggled to grab the hem of her skirt with one hand, staring at her with wet puppy eyes.

"I don't want any of it. I..." The boy's ears turned red. "I just want you to stay with me, okay?"

A cautious tone, fearing rejection.

After two seconds of confrontation, Zhang Jusong gave up and sat back on the plastic chair.

Xia Zhiheng smiled and moved towards her to be closer to her.

"That's great," he said.

"What's good about that?" Zhang Jusong glared at him. "You're already in the hospital, are you okay?"

Xia Zhiheng blinked his right eye: "A blessing in disguise, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to see my sister."

Zhang Jusong pursed his lips: "What kind of words are you talking about?"

The boy actually sighed. "Actually... sister, don't you want to see me?"

Her heart tightened and she cleared her throat: "Ahem...nothing."

"Really?" Xia Zhiheng's eyes followed her relentlessly, "But I feel like you seem to be avoiding me lately."

"Did I do something wrong?" His voice was trembling slightly.

Zhang Jusong turned his face to the side and stared at the wall of the ward: "...No."

"Really?"

She didn't dare look at him: "No."

Xia Zhiheng let out a soft hiss. She immediately turned around and asked nervously, "What's wrong? Where does it hurt?"

"My arm hurts a little." Xia Zhiheng stretched out the hand that was not receiving the IV. "Can you roll up your sleeve for me to take a look?"

She nodded and gently rolled up her sleeves. The boy's originally fair and delicate skin was dotted with red marks, which were even more conspicuous because of the white background.

"Does it hurt? Or is it itchy?" Zhang Jusong breathed softly at the red mark, his tone distressed, "No more drinking! No more seafood!"

The wound was slightly itchy, and his heart... was also a little itchy. Xia Zhiheng lowered his eyelids, and his Adam's apple moved slightly.

Keeping himself calm, he continued his attack.

"Okay, I heard everything sister said, as long... as long as you don't ignore me."

"I'm not ignoring you!" Zhang Jusong said angrily, "It's just that I recently accepted the teacher's invitation and went out with my seniors to do research, so I'm busy! What are you thinking?"

"Why am I ignoring you?"

The more guilty she felt, the louder her voice became. She seemed to be frightened by the volume, and her tone suddenly lowered. "Um... I really didn't ignore you on purpose."

Xia Zhiheng looked at her quietly, raised his lips, and greeted her with his little tiger teeth: "Then I feel relieved."

He complained, "I came here to study alone, and I'm not used to it. If my sister ignores me, I don't know what to do."

Zhang Jusong squinted at him and snorted softly, "It's not as pitiful as you say. Others are lining up to confess to you."

As soon as she said this she realized something was wrong, but unfortunately Xia Zhiheng had already heard it.

The boy's eyes suddenly lit up: "Is this what makes you angry?"

"No!"

Zhang Jusong stood up suddenly, with a stern face: "I'll go buy some water--"

"Wait a minute." Xia Zhiheng said seriously, "It's my fault. I... attracted many men and didn't follow male ethics..."

She couldn't help but burst out laughing: "What!"

Xia Zhiheng also laughed: "I'm serious, sister, you must not think that I'm a promiscuous person."

"Who are you and what does it have to do with me?"

Zhang Jusong scolded him with a smile, then walked out.

"elder sister--"

"Okay, okay." She looked back and said angrily and amusedly, "I'm really thirsty! Master Xia, please allow me to go out for a while, okay?"

Why didn't I find him so clingy before?

There are many convenience stores and fruit stores next to the hospital.

Zhang Jusong picked up several bottles of water, both iced and cold. The weather was hot, and he rushed all the way from school, let alone drink water, and he didn't even bring a water bottle, so he was already very thirsty.

She looked through the ingredient list carefully, picked out a few bags of bread and snacks with clean ingredients, and when she walked to the cold drink cabinet to get herself an iced soda, she saw Sprite and hesitated.

Xia Zhiheng is sick now, can he drink Sprite?

Unable to make up her mind, she simply took out her cell phone and searched for the answer on the search engine.

If you are not allergic to it, you should be able to drink it. Forget it, just take one bottle each of iced and non-ice.

Zhang Jusong stopped when he returned to the ward carrying two shopping bags.

The innermost light blue curtain was drawn open. Xia Zhiheng sat upright against the head of the bed, his handsome eyebrows furrowed. A man in a polo shirt was facing the door with his back, mumbling:

"Student Xia, since you are allergic to seafood and alcohol, don't touch these things in the future. When I received a call from the hospital at the college, I was scared..."

Seeing Zhang Jusong's figure, Xia Zhiheng turned his gaze to her, with a look of "save me" written all over his face.

His demeanor made Zhang Jusong smile. Someone who could speak in such a tone must be a school counselor, or perhaps a college leader.

She pondered in her mind, walked over slowly, and put the shopping bag on the bedside table: "Zhiheng, are you still feeling uncomfortable?"

One sentence interrupted the man's endless chatter.

Xia Zhiheng was obviously relieved and introduced her: "This is my counselor, the last name is Yuan."

"Hello, Counselor Yuan."

Counselor Yuan nodded: "Who are you?"

Zhang Jusong: "Fellow countryman."

Xia Zhiheng: "Friends."

The two of them spoke at the same time, but the words they used were completely different.

Counselor Yuan was a little confused: "Well, they are acquaintances anyway, right?"

Xia Zhiheng glanced at Zhang Jusong and saw that she lowered her head and had no intention of speaking, so he said, "Yes."

"That's good." Counselor Yuan said, "I asked the doctor, and he said you're doing fine now. You can go back to school after one night of observation. This..."

Zhang Jusong replied, "Ah, my last name is Zhang, the Zhang as in article, Zhang Jusong."

She pinched the hem of her skirt with her hand and said softly, "Don't worry, I...I will take care of him."

Out of the corner of his eye, Xia Zhiheng suddenly laughed.

Zhang Jusong glanced away slightly and pretended not to see it.

"Excuse me, Zhang." Counselor Yuan took out his cell phone. "Can I add your contact information? If there is anything, you can also contact me."

"OK."

After scanning the QR code with each other, counselor Yuan fiddled with his mobile phone and typed with his head down.

Xia Zhiheng quietly waved to Zhang Jusong.

She glanced at counselor Yuan who was concentrating on playing with his mobile phone, and moved closer without saying a word.

"Thank you for accompanying me." He smiled shyly, "If I really let him accompany me, it would be boring to death."

Zhang Jusong looked at him and smiled: "I know."

Seeing that counselor Yuan was about to raise her head, Zhang Jusong immediately shrank back and kept a distance from Xia Zhiheng. Her heart was beating a little faster, as if she was talking in the classroom and suddenly noticed the head teacher peeping at her from outside the glass window.

Counselor Yuan took a quick look and didn't think anything was wrong. He turned to Xia Zhiheng on the bed and said, "I just sent a message to your mother to explain the situation."

Xia Zhiheng's face turned pale: "Have you contacted my mother?"

"Of course." Counselor Yuan said as a matter of course, "Now that we're at the hospital, we must let your parents know."
