Chapter 31

Chapter 31

On a moonlit night, there is a bright light everywhere.

The young man stood in the moonlight, his eyes containing a faint light, and the reflection of that light was her.

Everything was silent. Zhang Jusong met the gaze and it was as if he heard a Schubert nocturne.

Nothing was said, yet it seemed as if everything had been said.

Her heart and thoughts were in a mess. She stood there blankly, as if she was in a dream.

Xia Zhiheng lowered his voice very low: "Sister, is it okay?"

Zhang Jusong took a deep breath: "You... do you know what you are saying?"

"I know." Xia Zhiheng looked at her deeply, "I have never been so clear-headed."

Zhang Jusong avoided his gaze: "But I... I don't know."

"Look at me, okay?"

The boy's voice was as captivating as the sea song in fairy tales, and the lingering sound was like that in other fairy tales.

"Sister, look at me."

Inevitably, her eyes flicked back to him.

Xia Zhiheng looked a little depressed, like a child who had been wronged: "So, do you hate me?"

Zhang Jusong shook her head subconsciously, and her remaining rationality made her speak with difficulty: "But, this... this is not appropriate."

"What's wrong?"

"I... I'm just your neighbor's sister. This is not okay..."

Before he finished speaking, Xia Zhiheng leaned towards her.

The young man's handsome eyebrows and eyes suddenly widened in front of my eyes, their foreheads touched, their breaths intertwined, and the faint scent of orange shampoo wafted on my cheeks.

"Do you think this is the way to treat your sister?"

She fluttered her eyelashes like a frightened bird.

“No… no…”

There is a gentle laughter in the night wind.

"Well, let's give it a try, okay?"

So close, she could even see her own reflection in his eyes.

Looking at those puppy eyes, Zhang Jusong couldn't say "no".

"Ten seconds, I'll give you ten seconds. If you don't object, I'll take that as your consent."

"Ten, nine, eight, seven..."

Every countdown was like a hammer hitting a drum, making her heart beat fast. What should she do? The time was too short and the questions were too difficult. She couldn't figure out the answer.

"Three, two, one."

A warm hug fell towards her, with the refreshing scent of orange.

"Sister, it's agreed that I will be tamed by you."

Xia Zhiheng's voice was filled with laughter, a joy that was about to overflow.

Slightly warm weather, the Mid-Autumn moon, the lake light, the willows, the breeze, the whole world embraces the moonlight.

Her heart was as soft and gentle as the night breeze.

So, is this what domestication is?

It doesn’t seem bad.

She buried her face in his shirt and thought, if this was a dream, please let it last longer and longer.

The next morning, Zhang Jusong opened his eyes and still saw sunlight all over the ground.

The dormitory was still quiet.

It seems like nothing has changed.

She sat on the upper bunk, her hands wrapped around her knees, staring blankly at the floating dust in the sunlight, suspecting that yesterday's confession under the moonlight was just a dream.

When she opens her phone, will the calendar clearly show that today is the Mid-Autumn Festival?

She was a little disappointed because of this. The phone was lying quietly beside her pillow, but she deliberately ignored it. At this moment, she was a little afraid to look at her phone.

I sat there quietly for a while, when suddenly my cell phone vibrated.

The quiet air was broken by the vibration of the cell phone, like a stone falling into a deep valley - such a loud echo.

She shuddered all over, frowned and closed her eyes.

The phone still continued to vibrate stubbornly.

Why is it so annoying?

She curled her lips and reached for her phone helplessly.

"Good morning!" Xia Zhiheng's voice sounded like the rising sun leaping over the horizon, "Are you awake?"

Holding the phone, Zhang Jusong suddenly opened her eyes. Before she could sort out her thoughts, she blurted out a nonsensical question: "Is today Mid-Autumn Festival?"

Xia Zhiheng on the other end of the phone laughed.

"It seems that he is not awake, sister. Today is the sixteenth day of the lunar calendar, and yesterday was the Mid-Autumn Festival. You promised..."

"Don't say that!" Zhang Jusong interrupted him with a red face.

"...You're not going to cheat, are you?" His tone dropped noticeably.

She muttered, "No, I...always keep my word."

"I was scared to death," Xia Zhiheng breathed a sigh of relief, "I thought you were going to default on your debt. There are rewards for those who keep their word."

His voice was full of laughter: "Come downstairs, your exclusive delivery man has arrived, please check it."

Time is too tight!

Zhang Jusong held onto the iron railing, landed in a panic, brushed his teeth and washed his face, then opened the closet with a snap and rummaged through the mountain of clothes. T-shirts, sweatpants, T-shirts, shirts... Where did the skirt go?

After finally digging out a dress, she put it on and hurried out the door.

Walking in the dormitory corridor, each glass window was filled with sunlight. She stepped on the sunlight, her steps becoming faster and faster, and finally, as if she was back in her childhood, she childishly jumped down the last two steps.

She walked through the long corridor in one breath and saw him in the dim dormitory lobby.

There were always boys waiting downstairs in the girls' dormitory, so it was not unusual. But this guy, whether it was the female students coming in and out or the dormitory manager in the lobby, could not help but turn their heads to look at him.

In the bright sunshine, the boy was wearing a blue and white sports short-sleeved shirt, and his bangs on his forehead were slightly wet with sweat, but he had a different kind of handsomeness and indescribable youthfulness.

As soon as he saw her, his puppy eyes curved into a smile.

"I'm here."

He walked towards her in two steps, with a bounce in his step.

"I was jogging in the morning just now, passing by a steamed bun shop, and saw a lot of people. I thought it must taste good, so I bought some for you." Xia Zhiheng stretched out the food packaging bag, "And a cup of iced soy milk. I ran here, so it should still be cold."

Zhang Jusong was still smiling, but he caught a glimpse of other people out of the corner of his eye - they were looking at this side, and some were even whispering.

It was like a basin of ice water was poured on her face, and the smile on her face suddenly disappeared.

She took the bag and said "thank you".

Noticing the gazes of passers-by, she became very nervous, and even her palms holding the bag were wet.

What were they thinking? Did they think it was weird? Or that her skirt was too wrinkled... Or did they think it was weird for someone like Xia Zhiheng to wait for her to come downstairs?

In just a few seconds, a thousand thoughts flashed through my mind because of the gaze of this person.

She lowered her eyes and stared at her slippers. They were blue cartoon slippers that she had worn for a long time, and then she realized that the trunk of the blue elephant decoration on the slippers had fallen off.

Oops, why did I go downstairs wearing such a pair of slippers? She was upset and secretly hid the slipper behind the other one, saying uncomfortably, "Well, I'll go upstairs first."

Xia Zhiheng raised his hand, as if he wanted to touch the loose hair hanging on the side of her face, but for some reason, he changed his mind halfway and withdrew his hand as if nothing had happened.

He just smiled at her.

"Okay, if you go out, can you take me with you?"

Zhang Jusong raised his eyelids and glanced at him quickly: "Okay."

Although I wanted to look at him more, a voice in my heart urged me to go, "Hurry up, others are watching us."

Urged by the voice, she turned and went upstairs at a brisk pace until she reached the dormitory, closed the door, and only felt relieved when she saw that there was no one around.

I should have smiled when I said goodbye to him. After calming down, Zhang Jusong felt a little regretful.

She took out the cup of ice soy milk. Although it had been stored for a while, it was still cool. Putting it on her cheek, it felt cool and was particularly comfortable in this hot morning.

The buns were warm, one with fresh meat, one with red bean paste, and both sweet and salty. Zhang Jusong couldn't help but imagine Xia Zhiheng buying buns. He must have been running in the sunlight and accidentally caught a glimpse of a busy bun shop?

Since it is a very popular store, he must have waited in line for a long time, right? It must have been very tiring to wait in line for such a long time on such a hot day. I will tell him next time that if there are too many people, forget it. Anyway... as long as he bought the breakfast, she shouldn't find it unpalatable.

She took a bite of a bun of a certain flavor and was completely reassured by the delicious taste of the food.

As she was eating, she suddenly laughed.

Although she had experienced laughing for no apparent reason while eating before, Zhang Jusong stubbornly believed that her unstoppable laughter at this moment was related to Xia Zhiheng.
