Chapter 35

Chapter 35

In the afternoon when all his roommates had no classes, Zhang Jusong was dragged to go shopping for clothes.

There is a large shopping mall two subway stops away. There are not many customers on a weekday afternoon. When you walk into any store, you will be greeted warmly by the staff.

"Welcome, come in and take a look."

Despite the warm greeting, Zhang Jusong felt a little reserved.

To be honest, if Annie and Manman hadn't held her on either side, she would have wanted to turn around and leave. She had basically never bought clothes in a physical store since she went to college. Even if she did, it was the kind of open-style fast-selling store where the guides rarely greeted customers.

She had a problem. After receiving attentive and considerate service from the shopping guide, she felt embarrassed to refuse to buy clothes even if she was not completely satisfied with them. If she bought them, it would hurt her wallet. After realizing this, she simply solved the problem from the source, that is, not going to physical stores to buy clothes.

Anne beside him advised: "Give it a try, it's okay if you don't like it."

Manman excitedly took off a skirt and gestured in front of her.

The two of them were as excited as dressing up lifelike dolls. Zhang Jusong didn't even want to spoil the fun of strangers, let alone them, who were obediently moving between the fitting rooms and the dressing mirrors.

When changing clothes, she secretly glanced at the tag. It was okay and the price was not particularly outrageous, so she felt relieved and tried on the clothes carefully.

Finally, she chose a pure white long dress with lace on the hem.

She pushed open the door of the fitting room and Manman exclaimed "Wow".

"This skirt suits you so well!"

Annie looked up and down, let her hair down, and took off her rubber band: "I think it would look better if I tied it into a bun."

Compared with a carefully tied hairstyle, a casually tied bun has a lazy and relaxed feeling.

Zhang Jusong stared at herself in the mirror. The girl in the mirror had her slender neck and shoulders fully displayed, like a white swan with her neck slightly lowered.

It feels...not bad.

"It's really beautiful!" Manman came over to her and pulled her arm, "It looks like it was tailor-made for me!"

Zhang Jusong slightly turned sideways, and her skirt swayed, which was indeed beautiful.

"Isn't it a bit too grand?" Anne interrupted.

This dress is beautiful and suitable for Zhang Jusong, but it looks a bit too formal. With a veil, it can be turned into a simple short wedding dress.

Manman said, "Ah, a first date is supposed to be a very grand occasion. Don't worry, if word gets out about your outfit, Xia Zhiheng will be unable to stop dreaming about you."

Glancing at the faint smile on Zhang Jusong's face, Annie tactfully dropped the topic.

Who cares? Just be happy.

After buying the clothes, the three girls went to the milk tea shop again. When they came out, one of them was holding a milk tea cup in one hand and the other was leaning on another. They walked forward side by side in a dance of the Four Little Swans, occupying half of the aisle.

We chatted about all sorts of random topics and had a lot of fun.

Manman suddenly thought of something and said to Zhang Jusong mysteriously, "Um... have you ever done that?"

She raised her hands with difficulty and quickly kissed her right thumb with her left thumb.

Realizing what Manman's hand shape meant, Zhang Jusong's face immediately became angry. She pretended to be calm and controlled her expression so as not to be too exaggerated: "We just got together!"

"That's true. That's perfect." Manman nodded as if confirming something.

Anne looked at her funny and said, "What do you want to do?"

Manman chuckled and said, "Jusong, I'll tell you a secret. There's a Ferris wheel in that amusement park. You must go ride it when the lights come on at night."

She lowered her voice and said mysteriously, "It is said that if you kiss someone when the Ferris wheel reaches the top on a starry night, you will be blessed!"

Annie laughed out loud: "Hahahahaha."

This time it was Manman who glared at her: "What are you laughing at?"

"Are you serious?"

"Oh, who cares!" Manman muttered, "It's just for good luck! And this kind of scene is so romantic!"

Seeing that she was gradually going crazy, Annie quickly suppressed her smile and said, "Ahem, you are right, it is indeed very romantic. Ju Song, did you hear me? The military advisor has offered a suggestion, please think about it carefully."

Zhang Jusong just smiled.

After returning to the dormitory and washing up, she was the first one to climb into bed - she was always the first one to go to bed in the dormitory.

The mosquito net has not been removed to prevent mosquitoes from coming back in the fall. The white mosquito net encloses a small world, and through the fine mesh, the yellowish desk lamp on my roommate's desk is dim.

She closed her eyes in the dim light, but couldn't fall asleep for a long time.

The night dutifully walked towards the dawn. She heard Manman go to rest, and after an unknown amount of time, she felt the dim light go out. That was the proof that Annie had gone to sleep.

It must be three o'clock, she thought vaguely.

I turned over once, but couldn't fall asleep. I turned over again, but still couldn't fall asleep. The wooden board on the upper bunk creaked once or twice as I turned over, and the sound was magnified by the night, which scared Zhang Jusong, who was afraid of waking up his roommate.

She opened her eyes. Outside the mosquito net was the gloomy night. She could hear her roommate breathing softly. In the distance, unknown insects were chirping stubbornly. The moonlight in the middle of the night sprinkled on the iron railings at the head of the bed.

Looking at the moonlight, she inexplicably thought of an ancient poem she had memorized in junior high school: "The lover complains about the long night, and misses his lover all night long."

This poem flashed through her mind, she pursed her lips and ordered herself not to think about it. In order to restrain herself, she simply recited "The Memorial to the Emperor on Leaving the Capital" silently.

After reciting "The late emperor died before he could complete his career" for the third time, I fell asleep completely.

On the appointed day, the entire dormitory was on high alert.

As the first single person in the dormitory, Zhang Jusong was treated like a national treasure. Annie put on her makeup herself, and Manman read the guide to the amusement park on her phone.

"It happens to be the weekend, so there must be a lot of people. You guys rush in when the time comes, buy fast tickets, ride the roller coaster first, and then take the shortcut from the right..."

Manman read out the guide in a rhythmic manner, explaining what special dishes were near that restaurant, and which place had the best scenery for taking photos. She described every detail very clearly.

"…Finally, when the lights come on, you can go and line up for the Ferris wheel together!"

Manman smiled and said, "How is it, is my arrangement perfect?"

Zhang Jusong smiled and nodded: "Of course it's perfect, thank you."

"Hey, don't look down," Annie said, "Let me see what color contact lenses are suitable for you."

"Ah, don't bring that." Zhang Jusong begged for mercy.

"Try it on." Annie coaxed her, "How about this one with a little light blue? It's very comfortable for me to wear normally, and it doesn't make me uncomfortable."

After Zhang Jusong put it on, Annie proudly showed it off to Manman: "How is it?"

"Wow!" Manman came closer and stared at Zhang Jusong's eyes. "Jusong, I find that this blue color is particularly suitable for you. It feels like your eyes are brighter all of a sudden."

Anne said: "It's also due to the eye makeup."

"Actually, you want to talk about your contribution." Manman exposed her.

The three of them laughed at the same time, and Zhang Jusong thanked them again and again: "Annie, Manman, thank you so much for troubling you."

"No way."

"It's no trouble." Annie put down the makeup brush in her hand. "I'm actually quite happy. It seems that our dormitory has become... a little closer."

"Yes!" Manman clapped her hands. "Before, I saw you were all very polite, which made me unconsciously polite too. But being too polite seemed to be missing something. Now I like it very much!"

Zhang Jusong said apologetically: "I'm sorry, I didn't say much before..."

"Oh, it's not just your problem. So sometimes, when we are in trouble, we become good sisters, haha." Annie laughed, "Okay, forget about the past, and focus on the present. Should we go downstairs?"

Manman glanced at her phone and spoke faster: "Indeed, we have to get ready to go."

Annie quickly picked up a few straws from the desk and stuffed them into Zhang Jusong's bag: "Use straws when you drink, otherwise your lipstick will be smudged... Forget it, I'll put the whole tube in for you, and remember to touch up your makeup with a sanitary napkin when the time comes."

The two of them checked the door from head to toe again before unlocking the door of the dormitory and letting Zhang Jusong out.

Annie and Manman stood at the door, one on each side, watching Zhang Jusong go away.

Manman: "Why do I always feel that this atmosphere seems weird, and a little familiar."

Anne silently complained, "There's no better way to marry off a daughter than this."
